Comment:
It functions! I have this factor hooked up to One more ADAPTER (IDE to laptop CD ROM IDE) and it operates. I was seriously concerned but it's fine. Bright red LED for the duration of operation. Not actually much of a con even though, looks kinda cool. Installed in a nettop with a Zotac Ion board (only SATA ports D:) and generic 200W psu.

Syba appears to be responding to client complaints. That's excellent and all, but offered we're speaking about six bucks shipping back 11 dollar units ... I'm not positive at the finish of the day that that truly implies something. Syba, seriously. Save your time on mine. I've already dumped sufficient time down the drain trying to get this to work on ANY Thought unit.Did not destroy any of the drives I tested the two units on. Tried on roughly 7 IDE devices on 3 motherboards. Under no circumstances worked a single time. Read the micro manual until my eyes bled -- needing to rule out that I had carried out some thing incorrectly. In no way recognized a device as soon as. Ever. On my 3 a variety of ASUS boards. At some point got so frustrated I began setting the switch "wrong" and giving the devices Just about every possibility of operating. Never As soon as did EITHER of my two adapaters recognize A SINGLE drive in bios (or certainly, anyplace else). Found my old vantech adapter. Not certain the egg sells that model any longer. Uncomplicated, 4 pin power connector. That factor in no way DIDN'T work. Positive enough, when I wasn't lazy, and identified the vantech, Every single 1 of the drives that NEITHER of the Syba adapters would recognize was recocnized quickly. No hint of drama. Just perfect. Then would perform perfectly.I'm kicking myself for not researching what device I had employed in the past to see if newegg nevertheless carried it.Syba's 3 year warranty is "cute" and all, but they could as nicely make it 105 year warranty, understanding darn well none of us are ever going to go to the trouble to RMA a thing for almost as a lot as the unit cost ... and then getting no guarantee the replacement functions. This is NOT user error. NEITHER device worked for me, in ANY attainable permutation, let alone the right one particular. Search newegg and purchase whatever 1) physically is not as well major; and two) is highest rated. There ARE units out there that perform.

Mainly because it didn't function none. I followed the directions which had been pretty clear; (which seem to be upgraded from what earlier evaluations described) but no luck. I tired just about every doable configuration I could believe of sata to ide, ide to sata, cd-rom drive, harddrive, dvd drive in all configurations but nada. I will attempt and RMA and hope I just got a poor a single. but when I attached my sata drive straight to my sata controller card it worked. When I attached my pata drive straight to the motherboard it worked i.e. whenever I attached the storage unit straight to its native connector w/o making use of the adapter it worked fine. I concluded the adapter was bad. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for buying our goods. Please make positive that the LED light on the adapter is on. If you want to connect an IDE DVD drive to SATA port on your motherboard, you need to set the jumper on the DVD drive to master or cable select. Also, please make sure the switch on adapter is turn towards SATA->IDE. All of our merchandise come with at least 3 years warranty. Tiny, straightforward, dummy-proof setup, not as well high priced, does what I want it to do (old IDE cd-rom to SATA) and it functions both techniques if you want it to. Just a valuable adapter. It fits fine in the back of my IDE device, but it's not super-secure or anything, it's a little wobbly. Not a enormous difficulty simply because it's not excessively huge or something, just make certain other cables aren't pulling it down. The simplest, least expensive, most straightforward IDE/SATA adapter I could come across on newegg, and it functions well so far.

Purchased two. One particular for a IDE difficult drive and one particular for a IDE DVD-ROM drive. Got the unit to work on the challenging drive with jumper in CS position and switch set to SATA==>IDE. Couldn't get the other to work with the DVD drive no matter how I set the drives jumpers or switch on the unit. Ended up working with each on challenging drives. No manual in the package and none on their web web site even believed they have a link for a single.Must have just bought a PCI IDE card.

Operates with all of my Western Digital EIDE difficult drives and my LiteOn DVD-DL burner.Drives appear to be operating at full speed. I have both ripped CDs and burned DVDs working with this adapter. There's not a lot of area in the computer system's case for these adapters sticking off the back of the EIDE drives when utilized as an EIDE device to SATA controller. Such would not be case when employed as SATA device to EIDE controller given that the adapter would then plug straight into the motherboard.Power connector seems to have been designed for a device with a deeper socket. It operates fine, just looks like it doesn't fit correctly. The EIDE connector side of the adapter does not fit as tightly as I would like, but I don't actually move the computer system case too significantly, so this isn't critical to me. Nonetheless, if you will be continuously subjecting your laptop or computer case to movement, this device could slip out of the back of an EIDE drive.I purchased this at a nearby merchant <F*y's> for substantially additional than I would have paid Newegg, but I required it now, and the high price tag and sales tax had been offset somewhat (but not absolutely) by not having to spend shipping charges. If you are employing this for EIDE device to SATA controller, regardless of what device you are working with, be confident to place a jumper on the "CS" pair of pins on the device, not "MA" or "SL". ONLY the "CS" pins need to be jumpered.Power has to be applied to the dongle as properly as the device to which it is attached. My greatest results were achieved plugging in the power and SATA cables to the device and then plugging the device into my EIDE drives.I've also utilised the SIIG EIDE to SATA adapter...this one is faster, and expenses much less.

Using this for the Program disk, WD 80GB Sata 2 7200RPM HD, connecting to an IDE port on a L4VXA2 MB. Fastest OS install I've ever done. Purchased this adapter from NewEgg, because the earlier adapter I bought from them for my Server Data Disk is nonetheless operating great. For some cause, it does not assistance the IDE controller activity indicator connected to the front panel. I even moved it to the Secondary IDE Controller, no Activity light when accessing the disk, but activity light when accessing the DVD drive on other controller. I just like to see the "Blinkin Activity Light". At initially it didn't function, so I moved the switch back and forth (new switch, never ever employed), it began operating and has continued to operate flawlessly. This does excellent for OLD MB upgrades, just make positive your MB BIOS is updated or it might not function for you. Be good if they had a 2 drive controller, just a believed.

None apparent. Could not get it to work for me. I bought it to get an older IDE cd/dvd combo drive (Samsung TS-H492A) to perform with my new motherboard (Asus M4A785TD-V EVO) which only has one IDE connector that I have hooked up to my difficult drives. I tried to aforementioned suggestions in regard to setting the switch towards the power plug as well as the opposite. I also tried setting the jumper on my cd drive to both cable choose and master, neither of which worked. This appears to have been a complete waste of income. Obtain one that operates instead of this one particular. I uncover it a shame that the page needed me to give this product at least 1 egg. I don't really feel it deserves even that.

Simply connects PATA hard drive to a SATA motherboard when the switch is in the correct position. It gets energy from the laptop or computer's energy supply rather than a separate adapter. The directions are a little fuzzy on particulars, but are created clear with the photographs. I can't get a SATA tough drive to connect to the PATA connector on the motherboard even soon after following the directions step by step. It works for what I originally wanted to connect a PATA hard drive to my SATA mobo, but now I ran out of SATA ports and believed this would no cost up 1 and use the PATA connection on my mobo. Looks like I have a half-dead item.In an 'egg'shell: -two eggs for the bi-directional function not working and the directions becoming unclear

I got this to perform both ways:* Mounting a new SATA disk in an old Dell Precision 410 Workstation (Windows XP)* Mounting an older IDE/ATA렝 HD in a new Dell Studio XPS (Vista) pc I spent a lengthy time before I figured out that the small red LED not getting ON meant the adapter was not acquiring power. After I fixed the negative cable that came with the adapter, everything worked correctly.Tip for others:* When the personal computer powers on, the red LED must glow. * When the adapter is transferring information, the LED blinks. This is not described in the (very thin) user's manual. As noted by other people, this does NOT come with a SATA style female power adapter (only male SATA, and male and female IDE style). You will will need a female to female adapter like the "StarTech GCSATAFF SATA Power Cable Adapter Female to Female" in order to put an IDE drive in personal computer which has only SATA style power connectors. The adapter was handy to do a high speed transfer from my old drive to a new one, but the hassle with the bad cable canceled out the low-cost cost of the adapter.

Nice design - handy that it's bi-directional... Won't function with PATA optical drives at all!! I purchased these to use two parallel IDE DVD writers connected to SATA ports on my new motherboard. Won't function! Fortunately I identified some old PATA-to-SATA adapters lying around my office and they worked fine. May perform in other configurations, I just had neither the time nor the inclination to locate out. Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer, if you will need to connect an IDE DVD drive to SATA port on your motherboard, you will need to set the jumper on the DVD drive to master or cable pick. Also, please make sure the switch on adapter is turn towards SATA->IDE. All of our items come with at least 3 years warranty. Has worked since the day I plugged it in - without issue.Allowed use of an older IDE drive on new motherboard that has several SATA ports and only one PATA or IDE channel.Speed seems as superior or far better than any IDE drive can be. Has lasted under everyday use for over a year now. No concerns at all period. The SATA==>IDE switch factor is confusing and the slim manual, if you can call it that, gives small explanation. I did not have a issue with the power connector but I agree with other people on right here that a molex may have been better. Just be sure the power led is on! I use this to connect a drive that I often back up to. I back up pictures and documents and some file archives but not the entire drive. I have had no problems writing to or reading from this old WD drive. This adapter has given my old drive a new life on my new motherboard. I believed a evaluation on a product nevertheless available after a year in use would be far better than one of the 'just installed' critiques that are a lot more frequent. I don't write several reviews because several solutions are not out long enough to give a long term evaluation. This 1 passes my approval. - CAUTION - Despite the fact that NewEgg is nonetheless a good dealer, I recently found they would not honor warranty on an item that I removed the UPC to send in for a rebate. Price me 1 way shipping to locate this out.

Functions wonderful to run a SATA hard drive on a motherboard with a PATA controller. For some cause it didn't want to work with an old 80GB Hitachi drive. I tried altering just about every setting on the adaptor and on the drive that I could think of. That's teh cause I gave it four stars. It did function with a 74GB Raptor.

Worked perfectly. It even had easy to adhere to instructions explicitly explaining what position the IDE/SATA switch should be in (I've seen critiques where which setting to use was rather cryptic). Was a tad resistant to plug into the IDE slot on motherboard, but fit securely once plugged in. Worked so effectively I'm getting another to transition SATA drives into my IDE fake-RAID array to ease into later upgrades.

Manual does explain switch greater than switch label. Go by drive kind --> bus sort. For me it was switched towards the power connector for use with an IDE drive and a SATA controller on the motherboard. Did not have any dilemma with power plug looseness but it does look like it ought to plug in deeper than it does. System detected drive right away and have not had any problems writing or reading. Speed seems as excellent as any IDE drive can be. none but Am not utilizing this drive to boot from, just additional storage. I may possibly in the future acquire a second adapter to use on an ATAPI CD/DVD burner.

It isn't a enormous loss... I didn't have any luck with it... I followed the brief manual faithfully, switched my jumpers, and tried it on different challenging drives and optical drives. I guess I can't entirely escape the IDE cables other than by replacing all my IDE devices. It was worth the attempt plus the cables can be put to greater use.

Got the job completed! Comes with a serial-ata cable! Even worked when I used it to hook up SATA drive to PATA external USB enclosure. I didn't notice any issues with the power cable being loose, like some others. Sure the manual is sparse, but whatever, you should be able to figure it out. The cables only fit 1 way!

When it works it does. Speeds are excellent depending the drive but over all speed improvements are discernible. Additional typically than not, it fails. Meaning that the drives will not be observed. I have tried the a lot of unique permutations of the switch, connector (to on board IDE to back of drive) to no avail. I have had a lot more successes with this Item http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186078&cm_re=sata_to_ide-_-12-186-078-_-ItemI had purchased a few of the items reviewed and still haven't tried them all. If they work with my old machines then so be it. But I know that I will no longer invest my income on them.
