SYBA SY-VIA6421-3S1P PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card
Comment:
None This card was constructed on pcb board that was as well thick for my pci slots. Wouldn't fit into my pci slot. At very first, I had to squint at the card and the pci slot, then I ran about hunting for the box this came in to confirm that it was in reality a pci card. Then I believed, perhaps my pc had "narrow pci slots" if that is even doable, so I attempted my wife's pc, similar issue. I forced and forced till my palm hurt, with no results. I think I could have flexed my motherboard so much that I need to have decreased the lifespan of my new computer system substantially. There was certainly no way this card was put via any sort of top quality assurance. I will never ever get any SYBA products for myself or the clientele for which I develop machines. Now it's not worth the shipping for an RMA. Thanks for nothing at all.

Functions well with most XP machines, 32MHz operation, Supports PCI 2X mode, Not as well pricey. Can\'t support a lot more than 150Mbps transfer rate per channel This is the S-ATA/U-ATA card you want if you are flashing your xbox 360 drive. It functions superb for that matter.

- It works for flashing the Xbox 360 Optical Drive, which is what I purchased it for. - It was a large pain to install the drivers for it. Finally just re-seated the card and reinstalled the drivers, that seemed to do the trick.

Literally, I mean, absolute Nothing. I promise you there was absolutely nothing about this that was pleasant whatsoever. Doesn't perform on my technique..apparently. I plug it into my PCI slot and the computer system won't even commence up. I've built numerous a system prior to and there's no indication that this shouldn't function. Here's my e-mail thread to the SYBA support and what they mentioned. I feel it's very pathetic:"Hello,I not too long ago purchased a SYBA SY-VIA6421-3S1P PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card off of Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124011) and I am at present getting issues installing the hardware effectively. I have plugged it into my one particular PCI slot that I have and attempted to start my method to no avail. I plug in the card and my Computer won't even start off. My tech level is not quite high, so I was hoping you could aid guide me by way of this approach or point me to some valuable documentation. Thank you. Response:Dear Consumer, Thank you for your inquiry. Please attempt the card on a distinct slot. See if that functions. Please feel cost-free to speak to us if you have any further My Second Response:"My motherboard only has a single compatible PCI Slot. Do you have any othersuggestions?"Their Final Answer:"Dear Consumer, I am sorry sadly that is the only recommend I have mainly because it could be an I/O conflict with the card and your motherboard. Please return it to which you purchased it from for an exchange or refund. Please feel no cost to contact us if you have any additional query."So basically, I'm out 15 bucks...I could return it but I have to pay for shipping and I have to pay for a restocking fee. Hopefully I can sell it SOMEHOW. This is not worth they difficulty, there are other alternatives out there and YOU CAN DO Better. Do your study and make the proper choice the very first time, I sure regret this purchase much more than any other I've had.

SYBA SY-VIA6421-3S1P PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card
Comment:
Worked good for what I necessary it to do, flash my Xbox 360 DVD Drive, was very simple to install, the SATA cable that came with it was excellent because Microsoft applied the smallest SATA cable ever for the 360. It arrived to my home in five days such as a weekend and a holiday(memorial day) and UPS drove down my flooded street to deliver to me. I could not get the SATA cable to plug into the external port, so I had to use the internal port. Worked excellent for what I required it to do. worth the value. little bummed out about the external port but I can deal with it. Excellent shipping.

I decided to migrate a file server employing this card from Linux to OpenSolaris. The card isn't supported and I doubt it ever will be, forcing me to buy the four port SATA II model as an alternative Doesn't function beneath OpenSolaris.Only two internal SATA ports.SATA I only Ƒ.five Mbps).FakeRAID card. Don't be fooled into thinking this card offers complete hardware RAID, it doesn't. Like every single other fakeRAID card, it uses Windows drivers and the method CPU to give the appearance of hardware RAID.What you see is exactly what you get. It's a fakeRAID card with two SATA I Ƒ.five Mbps), 1 eSATA, and 1 IDE connectors. Functional (under most OSes) if nothing else. Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer, Thank you for purchasing our Syba items. We are sorry to hear that the product has stopped functioning as it need to be. Please refer to our evaluations. We have decent critiques. The specs by no means stated that it functions with OpenSolaris OS. This is computer software raid card. I would like to point out that we can also problem RMA returns. We usually attempt to provide the most trustworthy items to our buyers and all items come with at least three-year warranty. So please don't hesitate to speak to us at support@sybausa.com for replacement or question. Regards, Syba Client Service KN 101310

Operates like a charm. A evaluation written before this 1 noted that the caption said SATA II but they probably misread the title. This item functions perfectly fine for what it is advertised for. Becoming outdated hardware.

Comment:
It appears to operate well as an add on card, but my challenging drive speeds dropped noticeably more than my usual sata ports. It recognizes the xbox 360 BenQ drive great. It created Flashing it a breeze! Disk drive speed is slower than onboard chipset sata connections. The organization also put ALLLL of their items drivers on one particular mini cd so locating the right driver was pretty challenging as the plug and play did not perform with windows 7 x64. Also I cannot comment on the raid but i can picture it would be extremely hard to discover the right drivers with the supplied disk- would not reccomend this for a raid card unless you have really very good pc abilities

Worked excellent for xbox 360 flashing purposes... It wasn't free For those with Benq 360 drives that don't have a By way of or Nforce chipset in their motherboard, this is a fantastic low cost resolution to the challenge. Just make sure you plug the 360 drive into the internal SATA connections and not the ones that stick out the PCI slot.

This is only very good if you want to use it to flash a Xbox 360. And it does that extremely properly. Not very good for something else, though it does show up in FreeNas. Could be better, but you get what you pay for.

none... other than low cost? Doesn't perform in Windows 7 or XP on a Dell Optiplex 755 with new motherboard and bios... XP installed drivers, but my external drive does not seem when connected. Invest a bit a lot more income and get a thing that really works.

none Always blue screens my box when i turn on my eSATA drive. Cease 0x124I can't fault Syba. This is a Via concern that hopefully they will resolve with the next driver for Vista x64. I have utilized the eSATA drive on other machines with no any problems. On the other hand, it is achievable that the drive is performing some thing that the By way of driver doesn't like (this is still an issue with the Via driver). Other drives in other enclosures may perform like a champ if you have this card in a Vista x64 SP1 box. Superior Luck.
