Supports IDE and ATA. Manufacture internet site extremely beneficial in setting up the drive. Style is ackward and clumbsy to assemble. It was cheap when the value was $xx with no shipping. The price went up xx dollars in much less than a week and now there is $x for shipping? It was worth the cost at $xx

Does what it Advertises! Superior than my final 1!The reason that I upgrade to this one particular for my final a single was 2 fold: My ide cable broke or my micro enclosure rendering it useless and I had esata and wanted to use it (new technology=new toys)I adore that the IDE cable connection is actually is an IDE cable so the ide cable breaks due to low cost plastic, you can replace it with whatever IDE cable you have laying around.Functions with each HD I've triedPlug and Play, despite the fact that eSATA usually calls for my system to reboot (I just will need to adjust my options....lazy ;) ) Sorta tight on space, but I use mine mostly open when servicing HD's so it works great.Broke low-cost plastic on IDE so the ribbon came off generating it useless, but that is why I bought this 1 was so that I can use w/e a single I have just in that situation. Newegg outta have pictures of the internal element of these enclosures simply because that is what often goes wrong with these factors when you are switching the HD in them.

Uncomplicated to installAccepts IDE or SATAPlug-n-Play/Hot Swap Runs a bit hotWish I could get just the enclosure with out cables or power supply I purchased this to extend the life of a couple of old but still working Western Digital IDE HDs as external backup drives. I also liked the thought that if these old drives fail, I can swap them out for SATA drives later on.The case had plenty of room for me to effortlessly connect the cables. Only downside I have so far is that this does get a bit hot, but then it's only on during the backup procedure.

little, difficult metal case, basic tool-much less case (you can add/remove drives with out any tools), rapidly USB 2. transfer speeds extremely poor style. the drive runs Incredibly hot. the inside of the case was not meant to property the IDE cable, SATA cable, and power cables in one particular place... but they crammed them in there! despite the reality that this enclosure has vent holes on the SIDE of the unit, the drive's heat is released from the prime of the drive directly onto a piece of hard aluminum... you'd consider this would act as a heat-sink and support dissipate the heat, but it doesnt, it just cooks the drive. the inside of the enclosure is so crammed with cables that you'll have to cut some in order to permanently mount a drive. currently, i have this enclosure sitting wide open to dissipate heat and leave space for all the cables. NOT Advisedi also have a AMS Venus DS3 DS-2316SU2SBK which is running like a champ and the fan keeps it nice and cool. i have a E-Energy EP-301SA (the SATA-only varient of the AMS Venus) hooked up to my SA8300HD DVR and its one particular of the ideal circumstances i've ever had.

Good CASE Good CASE DOESN'T MATTER WHEN POWER Provide DIES. I spent hours attempting to figure out why windows kept wanting to initizlize my drive and would say "device not ready" Generally this would be a configuration concern (drive not master), but in this case the power supply was partially dead, no green light. Drive(s) would not spin up but there was some voltage coming out of the power supply. Tried with 4 drives (two pata, two sata) don't waste your cash

-Good, stackable design.-Handscrews, so it's straightforward to open. The SATA cable is tiny, and the space inside the enclosure is not conducive to having each IDE and SATA connectors at the exact same time. The cable/drive arrangement for SATA is just awful, I ended up breaking the cable and had to use 1 for an internal drive, so now I cannot close the enclosure It connected my SATA drive to USB, but I do not suggest this product.

The external case does the job it intends to do. I have no difficulties with it. If users read the specs for this thing, you fully grasp that the aluminum will dissipate some of the heat off the drive. As far as the space goes in it for the cables, it's do-in a position. This isn't a backpack! None.

Smaller and fairly sharp looking. The unit is somewhat loud. Soon after obtaining this enclosure I don't think I'll buy an additional with out checking to see if it has any sort of sound dampening features.

Cheap. IDE + SATA. Inexpensive. Awful design, awful manufacturing, brief life.Case design: 4 screws from leading & bottom, self loosen resulting in a vibrating box... or a falling-apart box.Cable design: The two" SATA cable should be rotated 180 deg just to line up with the HDD. Double-Ewe Tee Eff?Worked fine for about 15 - 20 utilizes until the poorly manufactured energy cable pulled appropriate out of the connector. Low-cost Junk. Don't get it.

Solid construction with aluminum. Perforations maintain it slightly warm to the touch, but not hot by any indicates even running 24ǝ. I read the other low-egg reviews and have never had any of those difficulties. Sell them with nearly just about every personal computer we create. Never had 1 come back. eSATA connection is excellent for those MoBos that have the external plug on the backplane. I truly can't think of any. I have to face my buyers with this appliance and I've by no means had one come back - that indicates I see a lot of them go out the door and never ever come back in. Forget off-web site backup schemes - how do you know who they hired? Possibly some guy just got out of jail and got past their BI . . . you don't know. So keep your challenging drive in your own hands with this fine item.

This is easily completed and works perfectly well. Its also compatible with Norton Ghost 2003 Dos and LinuxThis particular Jmicron controller worked at a quicker rate of speed than expected. Din style (like ps2) power connector indicates that this unit isn't for portability. Probably, this would work ideal on a 5400RPM tough drive, and that's mainly because most little power supplies can have a slight "effort" to spin a 7200RPM up to speed. In my case, it was just fine with the 7200RPM drive. Either selection will go faster than the USB ports.
