Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 5 4000 DPI Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:First one was DOA, Second one only lasted 11 monthsTends to wander a bit without a solid surface/desk Only offer 3 months of warrantyelectrically vulnerableThe driver software sucks.. REALLY bad. I Just use the windows 7 default ones.

Pros:Nice weightcustomizable gripcustomizable weightsVery preciseDoesn't wander too much when clicking (though not as good as others)Great customer support

First the good:I really enjoy this mouse. Once I moved my tower off my desk, it was steady as could be. It's quite sensitive to vibrations but that's about it for flaws in functionality. The weight of it is great. It's got an metal structure inside and it's very bottom heavy. I didn't feel the need to add all the weights as the weight of the mouse itself weighed it down enough for my tastes. The clicking is really solid and all the buttons are easily accessible. The bad:Despite how great the mouse is for it's intended purpose (gaming), it's only really good for that. When typing on my keyboard the mouse tends to roam around the screen on it's own because it's sensitive to vibrations. I'm okay with this though, but I still feel it's a con. These mice are electrically finicky. I find I ALWAYS have to ground myself on my desk before touching the mouse. Failure to do so results in a static shock and mouse will need to be unplugged and plugged back in. My first mouse worked great for about 15 minutes, then once the drivers were installed, shocked me and died. One year later the replacement mouse decided to stop working randomly after rebooting the computer. No lights, not usb device aknowledgment, nothing... In short, the mouse works great when it works, but it's a touchy piece of hardware that is prone to failure. If they fixed the electrical problems (insulate the electronics from the METAL FRAME) and offered a longer warranty period I would not hesitate the purchase this mouse again. As it is, it's literally a gamble regarding the longevity of the device. If you buy this mouse, keep a back up handy.

Thumb rest, looks, and adjustability Every little thing else. This mouse sucks. It's impossible to set the dpi to a comfy smooth leve, it's impossible to set the length to a comfortable level so the mouse doesn't tilt forward, the sniper button is too far forward, and just a couple of months of owning it the left mouse button is worn out and loose. GET A RAZOR! Even it a razor has much less buttons you are way superior off. I miss my Death Adder badly but am stuck with this peice of junk given that i spent so considerably on it. GET A RAZOR

This would be a good mouse if it lasted. May have had a defective unit, and I had it replaced with a diff. mouse as they were out of stock. Love how you can change the extension on the mouse to suit your grip style. It also has a great clicking feel and what else can I say. Great product. Minus one star for busting.

Comment:
Particularly comfy. Being able to adjust the length is exceptional; makes reaching the thumb buttons best. Left and Correct buttons are fairly massive and responsive. The "precision aim" is a nice feature (if you can keep in mind it's there). Having three individual, customizable configurations ("modes") makes tasks easy (ie. programming frequent photoshop hotkeys to the different mouse buttons). If nothing else, the conceited consumer can turn some heads with just the aethestics. My hands are little wide, so not getting in a position to adjust the width - like the R.A.T.7 - makes me wish I had ordered that 1. Wouldn't so much call it a con, but if you have wide hands, it's a thing to consider. The thumb wheel on the side is in an awkward spot, so I don't use it. Don't have too considerably knowledge with gaming mice. A friend let me borrow a couple whilst I was shopping around, but I can safely say has worked greater for me than the mid to high end Logitech mice I tried out.

-Adore the dpi adjustable button. Works wonderful in a tight spot!-Adjustable settings make it great to set to your gaming requires-Practically molds to your hand-Glides across pretty much each and every surface with no a problem -Takes a bit of receiving used to if you have used a normal mouse-If your palm heavy on your mouse like I am then it tends to tip back a bit, but that goes back to taking a even though to get utilized to.Both cons are more a personally pref than something else thats why I didnt take off any eggs Overall a excellent mouse and for the funds you do get fantastic settings. For this becoming the 1st gaming mouse I have ever bought I surely see a large increase in my gaming capability. Make positive you take the time to play with all the settings its properly worth the time to fine tune it just to your style.

Don't let the brand names fool you here; this mouse can game. I've gamed with an OCZ Equalizer and a Logitech G9, and the Cyborg R.A.T. 5 is very much in line with both. The on-the-fly DPS altering is good, particularly because the DPS button on this mouse truly goes in Each directions!! You don't have to scroll all the way through your settings in 1 direction just to get to the DPS setting you want; you can just back up 1 click. That was a massive issue I had with other gaming mice that the R.A.T. 5 has solved. The mouse build excellent is excellent. The R.A.T. five feels solid in your hands, not fragile. None whatsoever. This mouse is Greatest suited for gamers who use the fingertip grip when holding their mice. Palm grip users will discover the mouse uncomfortable when attempting to use the 5 programmable side buttons. As I am a fingertip grip user, this wasn't a con for me.

Comment:
A lot more offered customization than any other mouse to my understanding. Construction is very effectively performed, this mouse isn't flimsy or prone to break like you would think. Although macro capacity isn't as great as maybe a razor naga the thumb-scroll, two option buttons and three modes enable for fairly a bit of custom funtions. The r.a.t software is really straightforward and uncomplicated to use. Most importantly this mouse is comfortable and effortless on the hand particularly if your gaming and spamming correct and left click all day. Visually stunning and a extremely non conformist style. adjustable weights are somewhat a discomfort to put on since you have to move the palm slider back but out of the box the weight was best for me. r.a.t 3 doesn't have the aluminum base or thumb scroll and r.a.t 7 and 9 come with additional attachments that truly aren't worth what you pay. This is definitely the very best buy.

-Looks cool-Plenty fast-Customizable-Good sleeving on the wire-Programmable Modes are valuable-Innovative style -Does not conform to the hand-Poor placement of the "sniper" mode button (can't use it quickly enough)-On the fly DPI changer is in a bad spot (right in the middle) miss it a lot when you try to do it "on the fly" Not for each and every 1, key thing that would tern folks away is the shape. Nearly appears as if you are reaching for the buttons.

-Good style, good software, works w Windows 7, a lot of customizations Poor performance, style has flaws which make it uncomfortable to hold, ur palm won't be able to rest on its back when u play, thumb buttons are awkward to reach. It's shaky n moves the pointer on its own, it's irritating when you put it down n see the pointer moves to the corner of the screen n switch all ur apps to desktop screen... I owned 2 Logitech G5 mouses prior to n the game I mainly play is Dota n Warcraft three so I know what I require in a gaming mouse. The difficulties w Logitech is they do not upgrade their software program interface n it's tough to set up customize buttons. An additional issue is their scroll wheels don't final lengthy. That's why I decided to switch n I was impressed by Saitek's style w their mouses n bought 1 from NewEgg. This mouse only has appear, otherwise it is uncomfortable. The palm can't rest on its back. The forward thumb button when in game automatically double-click >.< when the portion w thumb buttons fell apart following a month (had to screw it back). So be warned, this mouse only looks excellent but carry out poorly except for its software program.

comfy, customizable, and just a pleasure to use. its one of the most comfy mice i've ever used. The software program takes a little receiving employed to, but is incredibly effective. you can download button mapping profiles from the website for some a lot more well-liked games just to make it easier to get employed to. i use them as templates and customize then to how i want. the template profiles mentioned above are somewhat hard to locate, but thats becoming nitpicky. takes time to adjust to how you want it. amazing mouse. comfy, easy to use as soon as you get utilised to it, and all round wonderful purchase

Comment:
First off, the looks of this mouse trump on any razer or logitec mice. This factor looks plain sick. The buttons press really crisply, but not requiring too much effort as to inhibit your ability though gaming. The cyborg mode button (which is situated proper next to your pointer finger) does, in truth, call for much more effort to push, but i contemplate that a plus due to the fact no one would want to accidently switch macro modes in the middle of gaming. So I think about that to be well thought out. The mouse's aluminum chassis makes for a really solid really feel, incredibly smooth over my steel series mouse pad. I have really massive hands, and the feature of this mouse i most appreciate is the back plate can slide out to accomodate bigger hands although not excluding men and women with little-typical sized hands, also the weighting is really good, I felt it was a little too light for me stock, so I just added three of the included 5 weights to it and it was smooth sailing. The capacity to speedily change dpi on the fly is remarkable, not very certain how confortable it is to use the thumb scroll wheel, despite the fact that I think it is an innovative addition to the mouse. For the price that Newegg is providing the Cyborg R.A.T. 5 mouse, you cant go wrong. Don't even feel about it, just order it. For those who have had DPI concerns, nicely there is always a faulty device and you just had bad luck. Mine works incredible and I would suggest it to any person.

-Customizable length (great given that I have smaller hands)-Good really feel, solid and well built-Extremely precise-Software program is extremely simple to use -Sniper button is too far forward (I won't use it so I don't truly care) To address other people' concerns:-Men and women say it clicks too loud > I think it sounds standard-Uncomfortable in hand? > changing from any mouse will take finding employed to, I come across it incredibly comfortable-Jumpy pointer? > works flawlessly for me-Mousepad or no? > I haven't utilised a mouse pad since optical mice came out, my desk works perfectly-Doesn't fit hand? > Seriously? What other mouse can you actually adjust the length on? If you think this doesn't fit your hand, it's because you are comparing it to your old mouse that you are already used to.-All about incredibly good mouse. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.

I loved that the mouse could adjust the weight, the mulitple buttons and three unique settings modes for each and every game. The vertical and horizontal slides are amazing. Didn't use the aim button as significantly as i would of liked, but didn't will need it except those few times i had to snipe truly far away. I genuinely enjoyed the mouse. I am not sure why others had their problems the only cons that i discovered was it breaking on the 35th day of ownership. The lazer no longer works or turns on but all the buttons work fine. Just doesn't move the mouse at all. It was a wonderful mouse at a decent price, i just wish it still worked.

Yes it can tip but only if you're a retard :Dwould you pay an extra $20-30 for a few more dpi and adjustable width?... only if you got a giant hand I guess, otherwise this is great. The software could have been developed better.

Pros: Good LookingQuick SetupComfortable FeelNice Buttons
Comment:
I am really glad that I purchased this mouse for my first computer. I have used a few different types of mouses and this is my favorite design. There are a few problems with it though and these are that it's design is a bit flat, which doesn't really fit to my hand shape. This takes a little getting used in the beginning, and makes it a little harder to get a good grip. After I got used to this though it didn't cause a problem. The length adjustment dosen't do much because if you increase the length it will quickly tip and become unwieldly. Also there are a few to many buttons that can get in the way occasionly, and aren't neccesary. Other then these things though I love this mouse. I just plugged it in and set it up in minimal time. It was all very simple and easy, and after I got over the small discomfort I got to really love this mouse, and would definitly buy it again if something happened.

Overall it's a very quality mouse. It's my first gaming mouse and I love it. Everything is good except I find the mouse a little too wide. My old mouse was the one that comes with the Logitech Wave keyboard. That mouse was the most comfortable I have ever used, but I guess I won't find that in a gaming mouse. I definatly recommend this mouse .

This mouse looks great on my desk but other than that i have come to hate it. With its very slippery surface and the way the pinky rest is positioned i find my pinky dragging in my desk constantly. But most of all the drivers are terrible, at first i had no problems but for some reason i have to disable and enable the driver about 10 times for it to work.

Comment:
this isn't a long term review but I purchased this earlier today and played few games on it and tried few other things here and there.First of all, It is a great mouse, took me some time getting used to the mouse. I like the braided cord and the scroll wheel. Over all texture of the mouse is pretty smooth. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I am a sucker for cool gadgets and such.It does what laser mouse should do but one thing I'm not too fond of is the comfort. I can't find a single position that I feel comfortable with. the palm rest plate is uncomfortable to my liking, I think if they made it more curvy that'd hit the bulls eye. I like the idea of precision aim mode but I find it hard to reach the button, I have medium sized hands, if i were to put my hand in a "comfortable" position I have to shift my thumb up to reach the button. Also the second scroll button(programmable) rests right under ur palm, I don't see how this would come handy in any case, by the time you spin that button you'd be shot dead ;).Overall, If you like fancy mouse I'd recommend this, otherwise, I'd look the other way. However, make sure you try out the mouse before you put your money down on it. it may or may not work for you.

Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 5 4000 DPI Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons: - When the length is adjusted mouse easily tips backwards.- Right Handed only- Tread on mouse wheel

Pros: - Durable- Comfortable- Glides Well- High DPI- Adjust DPI with the touch of a mouse button- 3 modes- Precision mode adjustable- Weigted- Buttons are easily accessible and not in the way
Comment:
First off I'd like to say I'm loving this mouse. There are only a few cons, when you have it adjusted lengthwise it has a tendency to tip backwards with the weight of your hand, which if you want to use the thumb wheel and have big hands could be a problem. With it's design it's right handed only, which is a shame for lefties but not a really big drawback. The mouse wheel has a bit of a rough feeling to it which feels almost like a tire tread. It can be annoying at times, but it's not really all that bad.Now for the pros, the aluminum chassis makes the mouse pretty durable, haven't smashed it in a wall or anything but I imagine it would hold out better than some other mice. It looks really odd, but it is amazingly comfortable, the material it's made of feels really soft, and the thumb rest is really nice. All the buttons are really easy to access except for the one to change modes. The software it comes with lets you set the different modes, how much precision lowers sensitivity and the DPI. DPI is easily changed by a button behind the mouse wheel (which isn't in the way of the mouse wheel). Overall if this mouse breaks down on me I'd probably go ahead and buy a R.A.T. 7, definitely worth the money
