When I opened the package I found this stamped into the metal case: AUDIO PORT NOT AVAILABLE. This is NOT listed in the product specs.

I put these dvd burners in most of the PC's I build for customers and they're all very satisfied.I've bought 6 of these burners in the last 3 months and have had no RMA's.They work great and are quiet.Just having dvd rom is worth the price alone.A great buy.

I use this a few times a week for DVD's and have never had a problem yet. it runs quiet and for 19.99 it's hard to beat.

i use this drive to burn alot of my pictures and things it has preformed well and has not given me any troubles if you buy it make sure you get it on sale as i pd full price and then it dropped in price the next week on sale

It's a burner just like ever other burner. So far it hasn't given up on me so that's a plus. Samsung seems to make quality electronics and this one seems like a steal. Yeah, it's that good.

I got this on sale from boxing week. Works great. No "swishy swishy" sounds like those lite-on crap products.

This worked very well. As soon as I attached it to my IDE cable and put the screws in, it started up and Win7 found the driver right away within seconds. It's very quick and quiet too. Doesn't have the most appealing design, but who cares, as long as it does what it is supposed to do. Definitely recommended.

I bought this on boxing day. It works flawlessly. I use it as external DVD for my old laptop. This drive was very cheap and has been very reliable for me. I would buy this model again if needed too.

this is just a simple generic drive. it is quiet and does everything it supposed to do. remember to get it on sale.

It might just be my luck with any of the Samsung's I buy but it seems like all of them break one way or another. Purchased one awhile back and eventually none of my computers will pick up the device. Another one started creating really loud spinning noises and started smoking. And this last one basically won't close. Yah, it just keeps popping back out whenever I try to close it. I think I had and will have better luck with LG drives.

I got this writer very cheap at a special and so far I am satisfied with it. It's just a regular DL DVD writer which does exactly what people expect from it. It's not the best one available on the market, but for the price I got it for I don't complain.

I bought this for a friends computer and it installed and worked without issue. He burns a lot of discs and compares burn times to other drives ect and says this drive is above average but not extraordinary. This review was modfied by poster @ 01-15-10 11:27 PM

i bought this on boxing day and its alright. not exactly happy but it works. a little slow but ive got the time. ive burned 5 dvds without any problems.

I bought it on boxing day to replace my old one, For what I paid for, it is a very good DVD writer. I burned couple DVD already. It is fast, quiet, and no errors so far.

This drive was very cheap and has been very reliable for me. I have burned plenty of DVDs using this drive with very few errors. Absolutely worth the price.

With flash drives and Steampowered games, you can even install Windows using a thumb-drive. These days we can almost do away with CD/DVD-ROMs, not to mention floppy drives. But, on the rare occasion that you do want to slip a CD/DVD in, this drive will work just as well as others. However, it might ruin the look inside your case a little with the flat ribbon cable as it's not SATA.

though this wasnt a SATA optical drive, for the $20 i paid for it, i'm not going to send it back. a good buy, even at full price

Overall a great all around drive. Try and grab this when it comes on sale. For $20 you can't go wrong. The only thing that it's missing is blu ray capability but you can't really hold that against it as it's not in the same category. Bought this on sale for $20. It does the job as intended. No where on my drive does it indicate that it's a Samsung other than for NCIX's own sticker.
