I have had this drive for 6 months now and I have no complaints. I use it as a secondary master backup to a primary backup which backs up all my PCs, Servers & HTPCs.It backs up all videos, music and files very quickly over super speed USB (USB 3.0).Quiet, and doesn't take up much real estate.Would recommend picking up - watch for sales (you can get this for 100 bucks) for the 3.0 TB! |

I bought to do a backup of all of my stuff. Even after transferring data to it for an hour continuously, it runs really cool. I don't have a thermometer, but to the touch, it's just warm (maybe 35~40 degree C for the casing). So I would not worry about overheating.I can't tell over the long run as I won't be using this drive often. As said, it's for backup only. In fact, it's even a secondary backup to keep my data "off-site" (in case of major disaster at my house).It's very silent too.I bought it in special, really good price compared to other similar drives. The fact that a few days ago there were dozens in stock, and today is back order just prove the point! |

I purchased this to backup music, movies, and documents and so far there has been no problems. The speeds that I was getting while transferring files to the drive were around 30-80MB/s using the USB 3.0 port on my motherboard. While it's not nearly as fast as the theoretical speeds, I can't really complain. |

Got this for a Crashplan backup and it worked great on my main rig. On my server I have a cheap USB3 expansion card and I kept getting errors on this drive but I have feeling that is because of the card and not the drive. For the price it is cheaper to buy this then a bare drive. |

I bought this drive at feb 2013 and it died after 2 months. Used it as backup drive and didn't run it often. The drive stopped working after a restart. The power adaptor worked fine but the drive wouldn't start. Removed case and connected the drive directly to my pc. It read the drive but all partitions were gone. Also 750 GB / 3000 GB was totally unusable and couldn't be formatted nor partition.I have used several Western Digital and Seagate drives (2 times for Seagate), non of WD drives failed but all 2 Seagate drives failed. Will not buy any Seagate drive in my life. |

Got it to dump movies and songs and backups. USB3 speed is great. Only hiccup I have is that the drive can have a hard time getting recognised again by Win7 64bit when it has been plugged in for a long period, and that the computer had time to go to sleep. Unplugging and replugging the power and/or USB cable didn't do it, had to reboot for it to work. Otherwise no complains at all. |

I bought 2 and took both hd out for my mirror NAS fileserver. It's better than buying HD as you got free usb case with same price.The speed of USB case is really fast, constant read/write speed is above 100MB/s, and has kind of shock proof mount etc, much better than my other external HD cases.Only thing is you need to break some plastic connectors when open case and this may void warranty. Case still can be used though. I put an old hd inside, working fine. |

This drive is quieter and faster than I expected. At the sale price, it is really a good deal. I don't see a power switch, so it is very convenient to turn it off if you don't want to use it.
