Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 2TB 3.5" Black External Hard Drive

It looks excellent. Is light, portable. Has a pretty fast transfer rate. But I returned it (see negatives). Thanks to NewEgg the RMA procedure was really smooth. I decided to try an Iomega 2tb for the same price. This is the second like-exact same drive I've bought, and this one is buggy. The drive will disconnect and reconnect on it's own. When I put my laptop to sleep it will sleep but then it will wake up. I contacted Seagate by way of email and they did not get back to me. This chat interface did not connect appropriately a couple occasions I tried it! ha. I am utilizing it on a mac, basically have tested it on two macbook pros ƒ.8 and an i5) running the most up-to-date version of snow leopard. Perhaps this drive is only excellent for PCs? I noticed that Seagate is now producing a version just for Mac, which suggests that possibly they needed to do this. Or possibly they are just appealing to the style-consciousness mac owners. But if you search on the net you will see that Computer owners have also had difficulties.

Simple setup and install, plug the device in and the backup computer software start out off automatically. Tiny nice appear and feel to the item. When installing the software program not all of it is provided at no expense, you get a 30 day trial then have to acquire the add ons. They are wonderful add ons but it would have been good to know in advance of installing the software program that you have to spend for some of it. Seagate has often created a robust product that is user friendly so overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

A lot of space. I am at present getting a difficult time locating adequate stuff to fill it with. It goe properly with the setup i have and is quite quiet. I believe the bundle bundle software that has trial it's type of lame plus you have to spend afterwards for the services. Not a massive deal considering that you are not obligated to use them when installing the plan for it. Excellent value for the amount of storage you get.

The pros of this drive are the capacity and the price. Mine lasted about 6 months just before the clicking of death sounded. Drive failure soon after 6 months, have different backups so didn't loose any data, but this drive didn't last. Don't purchase it. Have had great luck with Samsung Story Drives.

Looks very good, works very good. Has decent capacity. The docking factor looks fairly cool. WILL NOT LET YOU USE TWO AT A TIME. Thanks a lot Seagate I purchased two. Seagate is beginning to go down hill?

I adore that it automatically turns on and off when you turn on your laptop, PS3, Wii, or whatever other device that you want to use this challenging drive with. It is incredibly quiet, rapidly and reliable. I use this for my PS3 whenever I want to watch a backed up movie or listen to music. I have a different one of these to store back up games on Wii, and enjoy that on both consoles this challenging drive automatically turns on when I turn on either 1 of my consoles. Games load up quickly...twice as rapidly as they would on a typical disc....which of course indicates...much less loading times! If you're an green energy conservative freak, this may well not be what you're searching for because the only way you can turn this tough drive off is by unplugging it, or shutting off the device you have it plugged into. Very recommended to anybody that wants to use an external device that automatically switches on and off when you boot up your device.

Descent performance, tiny size The dock appears to be loose. Drive turns off and on at will. It hasn't carried out it even though transfering files but. The power cord is loose in the base of the dock when plugged in. It doesn't take much movement to come loose. You are supposed to be able to acquire a diverse dock so that it can be compatable with USB 3., haven't observed exactly where I can get it yet and I picture it wont be inexpensive. I haven't contacted them but on trying to get one more dock to replace mine to fix the energy difficulty but. When I do I will come in a revise my evaluation according to the consumer service I get from Seagate. This is the 4th seagate external I have owned and so far so superior. My 1st two are a 500GB and a 1TB that I got while deployed in 2008-2009 and other than a energy supply failure on 1 they are nonetheless going strong through all of the dust.

very good cost, tiny size, lots of space mine appears to click. Appropriate out of the box it has been clicking which Ive usually believed to be a bad sign but it hasn't stopped working but. i need to probaly call an individual about this. If everyone has anything to tell me about this ckicking noise i would appreciate it.

- Silent;- My expertise with it leads me to think that it is not as hot as some individuals might have experienced, even in the course of a 300g disk imaging;- Feels solid;- Does power off when the computer is idle, or turned off;- Fantastic design, flexibility of the docking station created it my first choice over competition;- Inexpensive, Big storage - No want to consist of trial versions on the hard drive : waste of space. The capacity gauge is a nice feature. The drive is compact and it looks fantastic.
