Quickly although it lasted. Bought this drive 4 months ago and began to develop problems at boot-up soon after a month or two. Turns out the drive was undesirable causing error immediately after error. Prevent this drive until they get the bugs worked out. Seagate returns look relatively straight forward. Hopefully my replacement drive is more trustworthy... Paid the extra บ for the WD 7200 / 750GB when upgrading my wife's macbook.

I have purchased 4 Seagate drives in the final two months; two 2.five" and two three.5" and they have been fine. I will only purchase Seagate or Western Digital drives due to the fact they offer free Acronis application on their websites. I will not even think about Toshiba, Hitachi or Samsung for this reason.

Rapid, cool, quiet. It's as great as it gets. I have had the 500gb 72k drives, the Samsung 640gb 72k, and now a pair of these. The best drive produced. NONE! The previous posts with regards to HD recognition are the OS's fault, not the HD. Obviously technically challenged people or they would not have posted the adverse response. Windows 7 recognizes the drive and has the appropriate drivers for it. Any Windows OS prior does not recognize AHCI drives and so you will need to load the driver at OS installation.DOH

Fantastic price, quickly drive. None however. OEM packaging but isnt genuinely a con.. Using this as a storage/secondary drive in my Alienware M17R1 with a OCZ240gb SSD. When copying from the SSD to the drive it averages write speeds of 95-100mbyte/sec which is darn good. I can\'t hear it operating when I place my ear up to the laptop, (although it has a somewhat noisy CPU fan)

Still Quickly & Huge! 7200 RPM & 750GB wቬMB cache - what's not to like? Still none. Ran a little stress test on two of these. 1hr of Drive Genius Integrity Check - 512MB writes. Passed fine with good throughput price.

Worked 1st time. Seems just as quick as Hitachi/Apple drive. None so far. Installed this drive as a replacement for the stock 500 GB 7200 RPM drive. This drive fit completely in my new MacBook Pro 15" and it was easy to restore my cloned old drive and I was up and operating in no time. As I've talked about, I've not noticed any distinction in efficiency among this drive and the original one. Just a lot more capacity and no hassles!!

Previously reliable brand Really high power consumption, which they do not promote. three times the consumption of my 7200RPM Fujitsu (now Toshiba) self-encrypting 320G drive.Does not have any of the sophisticated functions advertised boldly on the Newegg web page:NO encryption as you have been led to feel it had,NO free-fall protection as you have been led to feel it had. Misleading advertising by the brand, deliberately vague so you can't know with no tricky investigation that you're about to obtain some thing that's not what you're led to believe it is.The same factor is on the Seagate web site, appear up the model and they imply that it has encryption etc., but slightly vaguely, and it's really hard to come across out that it doesn't.

Worked nicely for a brief time. About a month soon after installing this in my pc I started getting getting crashes and blue screens. Following lots of components swapping, re-formatting and re-installs it turns out it's the challenging drive causing my concerns. Hopefully my issues are rare with this device. I was really enjoying the large capacity prior to the problems began.

Size & Speed. Easy install. none Replaced original drive in my MacBook Pro (late 2007) with this. Large adjust going from 200GB to 750GB without sacrificing speed. A lot of space for media.

Good value and deal! sector got damaged immediately after fourӱ month the purchase.warrenty was performed with newegg,warrenty for factory is good for 3 years, but to order to get the proof of deffection is hard.Have to run manufacture's application. So, I did and repaired with the application.But, nonetheless can't install windows once more. Ever! 1 thing, it was capable to use it as external drive but not steady. So I was capable to get the data back up to other challenging at least!

Quick & Major! The only 7200 RPM 750GB Laptop drive currently accessible. Normal 9.5mm form element height. None so far. Also bad the 1st. reviewer got a DOA. Not my experience w/Seagate. Did I say Quickly & Huge? Quiet & runs surprisingly cool @ idle. Great video editing drive. Dropped it in a FW800 external case - Delivered 66MB/s writes & 75MB/s reads of 2GB 720P HD files with AJA Technique Test. Rapidly sufficient to edit DVCPro HD as single drive. Off to obtain yet another for ๳.00.

Comparatively economical for the size. Fits in the PS3 with no issues, 7200RPM w/ 16MB is a plus. Have noticed slight access time improvements more than my older 320gb 5400 drive. None so far. Hard drive only has roughly 15 hours of use however I've never ever had issues with Seagate drives in the past and I'm confident I will get my $$ out of it. Bit concerned about the heat generated from my fat PS3.

I feel cheated by NCIX. I ordered this drive, and as an open box product, but the hard drive is "re-certified" NCIX did not say this drive was recertified before I made the purchase, i believed i was purchasing a new hard drive, not something that has already failed and has been repaired.

I have both the 500GB and 750GB Momentus drives in different systems and neither has been less than fantastic! Almost as fast as a SSD but much larger in size and a fraction of the cost.

Substantial capacity, low expense, higher efficiency Low reliability. Produced chirping noise following many hours of use. Chirping noise became a constant whine. Drive dismounted and then would not mount again, conveniently immediately after moving all of my data onto it. Returning for another brand.
