Pros:quietadequate cooling

well so far i am happy with its performance...its quiet...keeps my CPU cool. just wish it wasn't such a pain in the rear to install. i haven't really pushed the overclocking on my cpu with it yet...so i really have no results for thatbut if your looking for a quiet cooler...i suggest this one

Pros:cools well, looks awesome, solid construction, nice mounting setup

Overall I'm very impressed with this Heatsink so far. My first impression was that it's absolutely gigantic. I mean... I knew it would be large... but this thing is huge. It fills out the case makes the cpu look twice as important; in fact, you might not be able to fit it in your case. I'm lucky, my case is large enough that it allows about an inch or so of airflow above the fan.The mounting system will probably require that you remove your motherboard so expect a time consuming setup. I'd say it's worth it though, at least for lga775, it's better than the mounting system used on the stock heatsinks. All this aside, the thing does what it's supposed to and cooled my overheating Pentium D 820 by about 10 degrees C with some better thermal compound.

Cons:This thing is a monster, it's huge, and blocks one of my RAM slots on my mobo which is very annoying.

Pros:Powerful cooling, great temps achieved.
Comment:
It's a good heatsink/cooler but I wish they had a smaller yet similar version of this as it blocks one of my memory slots.

So I got this heatsink in october of 2005, so I've had it for about 7 months now and to this date it has been one of the best CPU coolers I have ever purchased. When I had intially got it out of the box, my jaw dropped at the size of the heatsink. It was HUGE! I almost had a heart attack. One thing I really liked about the contents about the packaging was that it gave instructions on how to mount the unit onto the board. Due to the weight of the unit I was really worried that it would tear a hole in my motherboard. I purchased the A8N-SLI Premium from Asus. Great board by the way. The only problem I had with the heatsink after I had mounted it was seating the RAM after the unit had been properly seated. It was a really tight fit. Another challenge was getting the power connections onto the board while the unit was mounted. The size of the unit made it hard to get the 4 pin power connections onto the board. After I had gotten everything connected I would have to say that I have a very cool system. Idle temps were sitting at 27 degrees and full load was sitting at 37. I do intend to do some overclocking so starting with a fairly cool system is a good idea. Another good thing is that the fan can replaced with a higher flowing fan, so the cooler it starts, the more I can overclock.I would recommend this heatsink to anyone that is looking to do some overclocking and have air cooling. This is one of the best air cooled heatsinks I have ever owned.

Cons:Big. Heavy. Tedious installation. Blocks a ram slot in some boards.

Pros:Quiet. Cool. Close to water cooled temps.
Comment:
This thing is a giant that sits 6+ inches off your motherboard. It looks cool and works great. My AMD64 3700+ hasn't exceeded 36C degrees since I installed it. It is also very quiet. Installation requires motherboard removal and can be a pain. I was installing a new board at the same time anyway so it wasn't much extra work. I found the quality to good and the temperature speaks for itself. It is quite heavy and I wouldn't recommend it for a Lan party box. It also sits high off the motherboard and the fan could get starved for air in some narrower cases, but if you have the room it's a great cooler.

Cons:very big

Pros:120mm quiet fan, very good cooling, fits 4 types of cpu's
Comment:
this is very nice cooler, does the job very well, and very quiet too, and it uses 120mm fan, so if its not quiet enough, just upgrade to a better 120mm fan, or use a fan controller, the only down side with this beast is the mounting requires the motherboard to be removed, kind of sucky, they could have make a clips to mount on

After considerable research I settled on this aftermarket item. Before I could install it dad decided he would get one too and had it shipped express. He runs a Pentium 630 on an ASUS P5LD2. After switching from the stock heatsink and fan his idle temperature dropped 5 degrees Celcius and load dropped 10. My experience with the Big Typhoon on an ASUS P4S800D-X with a Pentium 630 ranges from 41 to 47. I did not test the stock heatsink and fan on this unit. Dad's temperatures now range from 28 to 40. In comparison mine seems a little warm to me so I may re-install just to make sure the thermal paste and surfaces are properly prepared. Dad's temperature drop was as expected from the research I did. I am going to install another one on an ASUS P5N32 with a Pentium D830. Under the stock heatsink and fan this CPU's temperature ranged from 41 to 57 when overclocked to 3.75GHz. I expect to see a range drop of 5 to 10 degrees just like dad did.

Cons:Huge, takes time to install

Pros:Superb cooling, quiet
Comment:
If you want the best air cooler available, then this is definitely what you need. My Intel P4 3.2c would max at 65C at full load using the stock cooler... with this it maxed out at 51C. It also idle's at 37C now vs. 45ish with the stock cooler. There are a couple of issues you have to consider though: 1) It is huge! Make sure you have enough room in your case... 2) Don't use the sticky stuff to stick the foam piece to your motherboard, because if you have to remove it after on you will destroy the foam piece. 3) With this installed you will have to be careful when you move your case around to avoid big bumps, since this thing sticks out a lot and applies a lot of pressure on your motherboard. Aside from all of this, I am still very satisfied!

Cons:-Huge!-Fan is less than an inch from the wall of my case (if I did not have a vent in front of it, I don't think it would move any air at all).-Somewhat tricky to mount on a few specific boards.-Included thermal paste is average at best.

Pros:-Quiet operation.-3800 X2 Manchester running at 29 degrees w/ no load, 35 degrees under moderate load.-Easy mounting instructions.-Assembly is straightforward with all parts labeled and easily identifiable.
Comment:
Definitely a nice fan for overclocking when you don't want to mess with water cooling rigs. Double digit price and it still blows some of the triple digit water cooling solutions out of the water so to speak. Fan is quiet, regardless of speed.Purchase some aftermarket thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5, because if you're going to spend the money on the fan, you might as well do it right. Also, double check that your board has a backing plate, for convenience's sake. The fan comes with a variety of mounting options, but with a simple backing plate already installed, setup is shortened to maybe 5 minutes. Just make sure you have a really short screwdriver handy due to the fins overhanging the screw holes pretty severely (I ended up using the screwdriver head from a multi-head driver, turning it with a pair of needle nose pliers).

Pros:-Quiet 120mm fan-Big Aluminium Heatsink with 6 heatpipes-Very nice temperature
Comment:
This is a great heatsink. It's installed on my x2 3800+, I got idle temperature of 32C and after hours of full load( playing battlefield 2) it was at 37C. The fan doesn't even spin at its max load. It usually spin at 900-1100rpm.The only bad points I've found is the provided screws and washers. Two out of the four screws provided to mount it were chipped and I couldn't get the washers to fit on them. The nuts to secure the heatsink in place are really small aswell which make it hard to get them in place.I would purchase it again even if the installation can be tidious. It's not hard to install, you just have to take time to install it.
