Hub VS
Comment:
I bought this unit and it works well.. however at the time of purchase, I wondered about the hub they had for sale. I plugged it in, and it used one USB port, so in essence I did not gain, nor lose a port. I wished I had bought the hub as it is powered separately, and it has more USB ports available which it seems I am in short supply of. I keep the two USB ports at the front of my computer available for a code scanner, which I only use briefly, and for plugging in my camera. The small camera plug that comes with the Octopus is at the back of the computer and so is hard to reach. It would be handy if the device was plugged in all the time. So is it six of one and half a dozen of the other??

Should have bought two!

I work with several external hard-drives and it's great not having to plug and unplug them when I need to use a different one. Great product!

great little travel hub that works
Comment:
Great little hub for traveling. The mini a is a nice little addition. My camera uses the smaller size though but it saves me from digging out the wire for my portable hard drive and brings the extra USB ports to where you can see them and plug stuff in without having to move the laptop around. The only improvement I would suggest is to include an extra smaller size wire for the many cameras that use it instead of the mini a.

Product installs, but does not work
Comment:
I installed this product through auto-install on my computer upon hookup. However no item connected to it is accessible - I tried connecting 4 different brands of printers - did not work. Then I tried to connect a USB mouse and a USB Key board to it, still did not work. I just disconnected it. What a loss? - I needed for it to work so bad, but no luck with this one.

Must-have accessory - handy little squid
Comment:
I got mine to allow easier use of multiple USB devices on my laptop and desktop-Mini. I have no problems with it, although the mini-B plug is too short to really be of much use, but if you forget a cable for your phone, music player, camera, etc it is a good backup option. For the money, I recommend it if you need more space for your USB plugs. -Nightstyles

Faulty contact ?
Comment:
I was surprised to experience loss of contact from my optical mouse when connected to 2 different USB ports... While the touch pad would still work and the luminous signal still be present on the mouse, it'd not move the pointer on the screen. This had never happened with the mouse connected directly to the computer's USB port. Will keep experimenting to confirm or not. Update: definitely intermittent problems, might be inherent to hubs but definitely a flaw.

Works Great
Comment:
Bought it for my laptop so I wouldn't keep hitting plug ins while mousing around. Don't really need the mini USB but I have a wireless mouse, a memory stick and a lockout key plugged in and all work perfectly.

not so hot
Comment:
I loose signal with my wireless mouse like some of the other users have mentioned when using multiple items on the hub. The mini USB wont push my WD drive (I suspected it wouldn't). Still it could be a solution to the way to tightly spaced USB ports on the computer itself, provided I can get the right combination of devices attached in the right spots.

Love it!
Comment:
I bought this for my laptop, which only has 3 USB ports. I needed this to plug in my USB modem, printer, and full size keyboard and mouse when working from home. It works great, excellent product and price!

Best USB Hub I have had
Comment:
The main satisfaction for me lies in the fact that all 3 USB ports can be used without the common space restriction on other hubs. My experience is that with small, neat "compact" hubs, the USB connection (i.g. flash sticks) are too wide and therefore makes it impossible to use the adjacent port with another USB connection. Much like idiotically designed electric power strips can't accomodate the need because the space taken up by AC/DC power converters etc. Thus I need more power strips.

Great Product
Comment:
The Octopus works great. When using a flash drive, an air card, charging your blackberry, and using a cordless mouse, all at the same time on my laptop; this is the only way to go. Great Product. Mark

Causes Deferred Procedure Calls
Comment:
Installs and seems to work, then after a short while I see DPCs as high as 50% to 80%. When I remove the Ultra USB Hub, DPCs fall to 0%. Possibly my old PC is not compatable with this gear? XPPro / PIII 1GHz CPU / Intel 820 MB / USB 2.0 PCI card. All 4 external and the 1 internal USB 2.0 ports are working and utilized. I was hoping to expand the USB devices I could use through the Ultra USB Hub. Maybe I just have a defective device?

Very unique
Comment:
Have you ever seen anything like this adapter and it being so small? It works like a champ. The only problem is that it is an UNpowered hub. The small usb is awesome for plugging in your mp3 player but you can't use it to charge it.

This hub does what it's meant to do
Comment:
I bought this particular hub for my new HP laptop since the laptops now days has the port on the sides and my desk isn't that big. I do not care for wires all over the place and would prefer they connect behind the laptop so they can disappear behind my desk. Well, this hub takes the huge bundle of connected USB cables to the back of the laptop so they are not sticking out like a sore thumb on the to my right or left. I connected the hub on a left side USB port of my laptop and went to a Bluetooth wireless mouse which sits on my right side. There are no connection wires in my way for the most part.

Cuts the Clutter
Comment:
A very handy hub. Solves the problem of flash drives that are too large to fit in cramped laptop and netbook USB ports. The 5-pin plug eliminates the need for an extra cable to attach a camera or mp3 player. Item works well on my desktop, laptop, and netbook computers and with XP, Vista, and Linux.
