Did not work for me
Comment:
I don't know for why the adapter did not work in my SystemMax dual core computer. The IDE disk I am trying salvage is old and I am not sure it works. The keying on the adapter card failed to prevent me from plugging in the disk cable incorrectly, which might have caused the failure. I get an error at boot up from the Power On Self Tests. If the error is ignored, boot up is ok, but of course the old IDE disk does not work. In hindsight I wish I had gotten an enclosure for the old IDE drive and used a USB connection.

simple honesty and objectivity
Comment:
I can say that this product did not work on my Dell Dimension 4550; the SATA drive did not even spin up. Perhaps it was a bad card, maybe it just doesn't work in some computers. The adapter kit (card/cables) from a competitior did, does and is working right now. Getting an RMA was easy so why complain?

Great Product
Comment:
I purchased this to adapt an older drive to a new computer. I did not want to transfer the info to new drives, etc., so for the price of this and another power adapter I was able to put the old drive in my new computer and it came up running fine on my first try. All of my info was there and again accessible. Would highly recommend it if you have an IDE drive and only SATA connectors on your computer. Better than trying to figure out how to get the data/info from one to the other. Just put the drive in and use it like you always did. A little pricey but in the long run worth it to me.

Good product
Comment:
I purchased this to allow my daughters PC (that has an older MB) to use an excisiting SATA drive she had been using. I did not want to reformat another drive as she had a lot of school information on the SATA drive. The product worked great. I had to manually set the BIOS to read the drive, but once I figured this out off we went. Good product, good value.

Pricey but does the job
Comment:
Needed to adapt an external drive to work with a SATA drive. This adapter fit the bill. It is small enough to fit in my case. Seems expensive for what you get and the board looks flimsy.

Works as advertised
Comment:
Seems a bit expensive for what this device is, however I had the opportunity to not buy it if I thought it was too expensive. Works as advertised, but instructions are incomplete. Took me quite some time to figure out that both the small FDD power plug adapter AND an existing molex plug must be connected to drive to use this device with an IDE drive on a SATA motherboard. Adds quite a bit of length to your harddrive space requirements. Check the clearance in your case before ordering this device.

Excellent

Seldom does a product just work - like this one does. Just connect it and boot the computer and the devices just appear in Vista just like they were native devices. I recommend this product to everyone with older devices that need to be attached to newer computers that do not support IDE parallel devices. Just slip the card on and connect the power and SATA and they just work.

Simple yet superb
Comment:
I love adapters that are simple, yet so efficient. I also have a SATA to USB adapter that works wonders also. To K: Sometimes a single USB port does NOT provide enough power. In that case you can also get a USB splittle (USB port to 2-way USB port). Plug in both USB ports (one for connection, the other for power). Works just fine then. ;-)

Ultra SATA to IDE Adapter
Comment:
I have this device. It would not work when I first hooked it up. Then I recalled that I've had problems before with USB drive adapters. Sometimes using a USB hub that is powered by its own AC cord works, when a drive hooked directly to the computer USB port will not. Apparently the PC's USB ports don't provide enough power for the drive. Try it. Worked for me....

Had one, worked so so then shorted out. Then I picked up the PCI slot SATA adapter card this worked 100 times better. I recommend the slot card over this.

Ultra SATA to IDE Adapter
Comment:
Works perfectly as advertised. You do need to buy an extra power adapter cable. The cable that comes with it is for SATA to IDE but no power cable for all situations. The directions for installation do not show the power cable being attached. The board does not lock down into the IDE cable slot so it wiggles a bit. There should probably be some way to engineer it to be more securely attached.

Ultra SATA to IDE Adapter
Comment:
Received the product and it didn't work. Apparently the SATA to IDE adapter does not work will all IDE devices, followed directions like it said and device would not power up. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone just glad I got it on sale and wasn't out too much money.
