worked first time, works awesome. wish it had a pin-header for the internal usb connector rather than a regular usb connector.

USB 2.0 Makes a HUGE Difference
Comment:
I have an older Dell. I put this card into it and WHAT a difference! I am using XP SP3 and it installed it completely and without drivers from my part. It takes a little while to install as it installs all 4 ports. It now takes about 3 seconds for my 10mp pics to transfer verses probably a 45 - 60 secsonds with the USB 1.0 ports. Well worth the money. Great Value here.

Finally something that works with Vista
Comment:
I was looking for USB PCI card that is compatible with Vista. That's the only product of this kind that seems to be compatible. It worked right out of the box, no driver needed. Also works on Ubuntu which I have on the same machine. Although I paid $ 20 a few weeks ago, it was still a good price

I bought two of these and they both work fine in machines with Soyo mb running Win200pro but when plugged into an otherwise working machine with an A-Trend mb, they prevented the POST from starting.

Installed into my Windows XP machine and the card was not recognized. The documentation provided with the card directed me to the company website for drivers, but none are to be found.

Although the OS supported is stated as Windows and Mac, this unit works just fine with my PCLinux OS 2007 / Gnome. I purchased this item do to another reviewer that stated this item worked with his Ubuntu Linux OS. No software needed it was plug n play with my system. Very happy, Thanks

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready
Comment:
I've got one of these installed in my PowerMac G4 Digital Audio (upgraded to a 1.8GHz 7448 G4). Contrary to the reviews below, it works perfectly FINE on a G4 Mac. Yes, it worked fine when it had the original dual 553 G4 CPUs as well. I've replaced the old Jaz drive with an internal USB 2.0/Firewire Hub and plugged it into the internal USB 2.0 connector and have a 2nd external USB 2.0 hub connected as well. They all work fine in MacOSX 10.4.11 Tiger and Leopard. They do not function under OS9, however. I have to keep a USB 1.x hub around for OS9 and the Mac's boot menu (holding OPTION key during boot). Basically, the card and 2.0 hubs don't work until Tiger or Leopard boots.

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready
Comment:
A really good buy. It worked as soon as I fired up my 6 year old Dell Demension 8200.The greater speed was apparant at once. The speed of printing photos on my Lexmark x8350, and my G5 mouse was a marked improvement by 3 or 4 times. All I had before were USB 1.1 and the ease of installing and immediate running were very special. I've had no problems what so ever. A big thumbs up!!

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready
Comment:
Although the OS aupport is stated as Windows and Mac OS-X, this unit works just great with Ubuntu Linux OS. I actually use this card for USB first over the USB on the Motherboard since it is easier to use the Ultra USB card. The drivers are intrinsic to my operating system, so I did not have to do any installing of drivers.

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready
Comment:
In response to John's review above: These cards are meant for Intel or AMD x86 architecture computers, as evidenced by the operating system requirements: Windows. A Macintosh G3 or G4 will be using a PowerPC chipset and therefore will not be compatible. I can't say for sure about more recent Intel Macs.

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready

I installed this device in my 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 computer which is running XP Pro SP2. Upon powering up the computer, the new PCI board was detected and the drivers were installed automatically, without any intervention on my part. I plugged my high speed USB printer into the one of the new ports, and it worked flawlessly. All 3 of my other USB devices also worked perfectly when plugged into the Ultra 5 port USB / PCI board.

Ultra ULT40127 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card - USB 2.0, 4 External Ports, 1 Internal, Mac & Vista Ready
Comment:
A great buy. You cant use the internal USB port and the first external port simultaneously, so it is effectively a 4 port USB 2.0 card. there is a little bit of a gap between the faceplate and the back of my computer also. Other than that, it works great.
