1. It works :P2. Fast and uncomplicated way to operate with lots of SATA drives.3. Came with an ESATA bracket. A bit high priced for a drive case. The case is a bit light weight. But appears sturdy sufficient more than all. If you have a lot of SATA drives to operate with it makes life less complicated.

Basic to hook up - good performance - all cables included. I have it connected via eSata hosting a 1 TB WD drive. I use it for backup and running VMs. none so far yet another excellent product from Vantec.

It's cute! Comes total with all cables that you could possibly want for it. It has a handy eject button. Handles 2.five" SATA drives as nicely as 3.3". Mine is a bit tight... that is the drive ought to be pressed down into the connector pretty difficult. At 1st I believed it wasn't operating due to the fact of this. I appear to have one that actually works and didn't catch fire or anything. I really wish that I had gotten the Firewire400 capable one for my Mac. eSATA is a tricky interface. Several onboard eSATA controllers (such as my Intel P35/ICH9) are not completely "hot-swappable" meaning that the drive must be in the dock and turned on prior to boot. An easy way around this is to use a separate PCI (or PCIe) eSATA controller card based on the Silicon Image 3132 controller. These affordable controllers support hot-swap nicely.

1. Works quickly most of the time...2. Looks great (a bit out of place in a sea of black and silver but so does my Wii).3. Effortless hookup and works via my multi-function card reader with Esata. 1. I'm getting a lot of problems with Windows 7 which is installed on a 640gb WD Caviar Blue. 2. The power cable that goes from the A/C adapter to the wall has thin shielding. (one of my tiny dogs 7-12 lbs) chewed it up inside a couple seconds exposing the copper wire. I unknowingly stepped on this copper wire following I turned on the unit and received a smaller shock and burnt a hole via my sock. Under Windows 7 it works great when it boots but every once in a even though it won't boot and continues not to, I get errors like "boot device failure" and and so on. I also get poor lockups; the initially time this happened it appeared to be a messed up Intel Sata chipset drive which was causing it but it has re-appeared following a couple weeks of solid use. I can run chkdsk from Vista on an additional HDD and I'll no issues for awhile but then I'll get a lockup or a BSOD machine shuts off and then windows cannot discover the drive. It could be my mobo DG33TL, from an internal Sata Header it goes into the card reader which is just a pass-by means of and turns it into an E-sata connector which hooks up to the enclosure via the supplied cable.

Its a good small difficult drive dock, great for performing file recovery from tough drives. The poor would be the power cable that decided to super heat nowadays, thankfully even though I was home to smell the burning plastic. No exterior damage to the energy pack, but its dead & when I unplugged it, so hot I had to use metal tongs to move it. Glad my house didn't catch fire. I own two of these, so far, only one has failed, but I've only had one in use. Going to maintain a close eye on the 2nd unit to make sure it doesn't follow suit to the initially. I've had each of these for more than a year, and warranty is only 1 year. If you do use one, maintain a close eye on the battery pack.

Straightforward install. Worked great when it worked. Stopped working immediately after about a year. At 1st I believed it was the tough drive, but tried yet another tough drive with very same result. Tried unplugging and replugging - no go.Lights on but laptop or computer only sees it for a few seconds.

Works properly *** Plastic appears incredibly low cost - virtually afraid to hold the factor :) *** Following taking out an internal drive from my computer, and putting it in the dock, it didn't show up on my program. Device Manager showed the dock & drive had been attached and working although. Go into Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Disk Management if you need to get the drive to show up. I had to reactive mine, as it was marked offline.

Sheez, it couldn't be simpler. Plug in the power cable. Plug in the USB cable. Turn it on. Push in your tough drive . Wala, your computer recognizes your difficult drive & you're excellent to go. I don't know what some of the other critics are complaining about. For the funds, it's a wonderful value. None, unless it blows up tomorrow. As usual, Newegg had the best price. And it got here in the usual three days. Case closed.

Amazing device. Makes you wonder why nobody thought of this prior to... eSata speeds are like a native drive (well, it is, I guess), and USB are also far better than I expected. Hotswap sata only works with AHCI, but newer stuff is, I guess. I use this for business backups, as we have too significantly data to throw on slow tape drives anymore, and with the price of SATA drives, I can't shed. None truly.. I typically turn device off and wait for drive to spool down prior to removing... just producing certain I don't nuke drives that weren't meant to be moved though on. Great price, great concept. Totally best for massive backups, drive imaging and replication, recovery (can commonly pull data off of drive that's bad if I put in freezer for five mins, then throw it on the dock and copy like crazy). As always, Newegg is super consistent with great ship times and customer service.

The throughput on this enclosure is exceptional via both USB (between about 25mb/s and 35mb/s) and of course ESATA ࿈mb/s to about 60mb/s). The appear is clean and sharp and is simple to setup. The enclosures case really feel a small bit low cost, and it was a small tough to get the initially 2.5" nb drive in. If I had the want I'd in all probability obtain 10 far more of these.

Still loving it right after 8 months--discovered a way to boost it. Would be nice in aluminum. I wrote a 5-egg evaluation back in February, and I'm still pleased with the two docks I have. But I did this to make them run cooler: I utilized a metal-cutting blade in my 10-inch miter saw to chop about two inches from an iStarUSA iStorm 8 Series Hard Drive Cooler (available from NewEgg). This is a heavy, black-painted, aluminum heatsink that attaches directly to the tough drive. Not only does it give the hard drive a radical Darth Vader appear, but it knocks the temperature down 15-20 degrees. "Anything worth utilizing is worth modding" -- RDKirk

Fantastic dock, I bought this to contrast my BlacX and they each look wonderful subsequent to each and every other, esata is quickly, hate usb now Makes usb utterly useless and shamefulnot weighted like BlacX comes bundled with a great quantity of accessories, bracket for internal sata to esata conversion as nicely as sata and usb cables

Hi there,I bought this to make all my hard drive live again.I can say this is very easy to install....a real plug and play...it work fine for a 2TB hard drive no problem....you can even format brand new hard drive with this babies....cable seem a bit short....quality is a bit cheap....but the color is nice....i rate this easily 4-5

This system is small yet powerful. Takes no space on the desk. Just plug in your hard drive and start working. I was able to salvage files from a har drive that would not boot to windows saving my department days of re-entry work.

Picked one up today to replaced a failed external HDD from Western Digital. Was debating whether to get this or the one of the Thermaltake BlackX docks. Ultimately went with this because of the included e-SATA bracket, which did not come standard on my EX58-UD3R motherboard from Gigabyte. Using one of my old 160GB HDD's on it and it works like a charm! Highly recommended for those looking to take advantage of the e-SATA transfer rate.

I'm very pleased because besides drives in enclosures, I also have bare data drives. Like many others (I'm sure) I've had drives sitting on things next to an open computer with power and SATA cables. This is much tidier and safer!I just hooked it in and it worked perfectly. So far, other than one Vantec power supply, their stuff has done great service for years, and I have used lots.I use Linux so unmounting isn't such a problem, but make sure that drive is unmounted before using power button etc..

I have purchased 3 of these, we use them to transfer data to each others cpu's for information and backup purposes one thing nice about we can run directly from these units if need be.

I have two of them and over 6 months neither one has had any problems. Being able to swap drives in and out from where I want to have files accessible to everyone is very easy.
