With all the sales going around on sata3, I bought this SATA drive for my old computer that needs a hdd replacement. Still like old fashion drive compared to sshd. I hope it last for a long time, I'm counting on WD. |

So my 6yr old WD Black died in my comp and had to get another drive, saw this on sale for $69.00 at 7200rpm w/ 64mb of cache and honestly this decision was an easy one. WD is a very reliable company and their warranty was one more year than Segates drive which was $67.99 at this time. Can't go wrong for the amount of storage, speed, warranty and reliability! |

When I bought this hard drive with a new build, I was going mostly for space (as opposed to getting a black drive), as I was pairing it with an OCZ Vertex SSD drive to run my OS on and have this drive to "store" things that wouldn't fit on the SSD. Its fine for that.However, when running an OS off the drive, it is very very slow for some strange reason. I have a dual-boot of Windows 8 and Linux (Windows 8 running from my SSD and Ubuntu Linux running from this Blue drive), and when in linux, everything is very slow. I have a laptop with a 5400 rpm drive in it and feels so much faster. As far as I know, there is no actual problems with it, I just didn't think it would be so slow as an OS drive. |

I bought this for my in-laws to replace their 160GB HDD which was filled with photos (father in-law loves taking nature pictures). This HDD greatly improved the speed of their aging computer as well as increasing the room for photos and videos.Fits their needs perfectly as the WD Black/SSD would be overkill, and the Green series isn't recommended for an OS drive. |
Installed some games onto it and ran them without issue. Can't say much other than that it works decently and haven't had any issues with installation. Reasonably fast and has lots of space. It's a good hard drive, I suppose?
