Comment:
Established design, smaller and lightweight 92mm size tends to make it ideal for midtower cases. Comes with back plate for i5/i7 mobos. Spring loaded screws are solid and general very effortless to install. No push pins = winner. 85% of the cooling capability of the top 120mm coolers at half the price tag and twoǙ the size. Been utilizing this one particular since the C2D days...still a great cooler! The packing of the back plate...seriously Xigmatek. Sufficient reviews here mentioning the identical point. You just threw it in there wedged amongst the fins of the cooler and the styrofoam best and I was greeted to 2 bent fins upon opening the box. Very easily fixed, but tell your supplier to generate a slot in the styrofoam for the backplate so it doesn't damage the cooler. Common sense...fix this issue ASAP. To get the maximum advantage from this HDT cooler, in addition to the "line system" of applying thermal paste to CPU, be sure to also put a tiny bit into the grooves among the heatpipes and the metal that connects them and spread it super thin with a credit card edge.

Lighter than it looks. Packaging did not contain the AMD retainer clip despite the photos here on newegg and on the included instructions displaying stated clip. Not happy with missing out on some thing i paid for. I cant even use the included intel mounting brackets as the back plate does not have sufficient clearance behind the motherboard.

Cools well for its size, and the stock fan isn't terrible. It's very quiet by most folks's requirements. Fits in a case only wide adequate for a 92mm exhaust fan. Stock fan could be either quieter or much more powerful; it sits someplace in the middle. If you want excellent cooling but don't want to spring for a enormous tower cooler or don't want to risk damaging your motherboard moving a computer with such a cooler installed, this is a good alternative. It's not smaller by any signifies, but it's considerably far more manageable than the big towers.

Comment:
For the cost the product is great. The fan mounting system is seriously good, I like that a lot. Did not minimize temps for the 6000 64x2 @ three.1MHz with stock cooler. To be fair, the stock cooler is the AMD/Foxconn 4 pipe version with a quiet/thin 80mm fan mounted on leading. But even so, I was hoping for at least a minimal 1 or 2 drop in temps, but absolutely nothing was gained. I would replace a solid or two heatpipe CPU Cooler with this once more, performance is sufficient but not for the 'enthusiast' who wants to O/C at all. I could try the 120 version of this product but honestly, I feel the trick will be far more heat pipes not just a different configuration.

Comment:
Haven't tried overclocking however, I primarily bought this CPU cooler to lower my Computer's noise. Instead of hearing the whir of my previous AMD stock cooler going complete blast at 2400+ RPM on load, this cooler's fan never ever goes above 1300 RPM on load and is practically silent. Also, temps on my Athlon II X2 250 dropped from 45C to 33C on load! As talked about in other evaluations, can't mount the cooler on AMD boards so that the fan blows toward your computer systems rear. If you could mount the cooler on AMD boards so that the heatsink fins can face max exposure with your case fans airflow, this would make a fantastic passive cooler.

Smaller than i was anticipating, which was a very good issue, Fits extremely properly in the Antec 300. Also operates good for the Intel Core i7 920 with the seperate Xigmatek mounting bracket. Not for my laptop or computer =( but for a pals Had great directions for the cooler, which kind of surprised me, generally they come with terrible directions for mounting. It is also extremely quiet, cannot hear it over any of the program fans in the case.System:Intel i7 920Asus P6T X588GB Mushkin DDR3-10666Corsair 750w psuWD 640gb tricky driveLG dvd burnerAntec 300Vista Ultimate 64-bit

With a low ambient space temperature, this cooler stays quiet and effective. We shall see this summer time!If you have loads of time to spare, assembling this heatsink & fan is enjoyable; kind of like a puzzle! Assembly and installation of this heatsink and fan took way longer than it should. Documentation is was poorly written and mislabeled (hint: use the Intel 775 bracket for AMD)- okay documentation was pretty useless. Anticipate to spend around 66% of your laptop or computer build time on this heatsink & fan.

Does an exceptional job of cooling. For positive it cools. I got it bc my cpu kept getting hot although converting DVDs. It topped out at 60c, but now it tops at 45c. Key improvement!! Waaaayy also tough to set up. The directions suck!! There is no backplate! Nor clip downs. This screws down, which quite a few persons like, what if you don't have a backplate?? I Employed my old retention bracket and clip and utilized pieces of cardboard. Effectively, at least it performs. (I got the thought from anothr use with similar complaint.) It's so massive my side panel wont side on. It has a fan tube. If i get rid of it, it leaves an open hole. I am not pleased with my expertise.

Fantastic performing heat sink- comes with thermal compound, idle temp for c2q6600 is 26C. max temp at 48C utilizing burn-in test v6. common intel heat sink push pins are terrible and almost impossible to get to when fan is mounted. The screw-in type brackets must come typical with this heat sink; i.e. the ACK-I7753

Super uncomplicated installation on 1366 socket. Brackets are included and it appears that the needed bracket for AM3 mounting in the suitable direction is included. Cools very nicely (on i7-950), included fan is essentially inaduable at lower (normal) rpms. Directions are confusing, thank goodness you can just follow the diagrams.

Recommended to anyone with (barely) adequate room.UPS genuinely pulled by way of, following rescheduling the delivery date twice, it was delivered on the original delivery date! It's the second loudest issue in my technique now, for intel users, I recommend making use of the PWM function, for AMD users, I'd recommend finding earphones like me.Some fins were bent, but nothing a gentle finger or two can't fix. HP Pavilion caseGeneric moboAMD Athlon 64 x2 5200 brisbane; 2.7ghzNo intake fan, weak exhaust fanRun open case so it doesnt heat up (cpu gets to 57C when closed case=idle)Right after I installed the cooler and plugged it in, I booted up my system, and the cpu fan failed. Preserve reading: The fan was in ideal operating condition, but HP had undervolted the cpu fan connector to make the stock fan quieter. I figured this out about two hours later and did a swift google search, I identified this excellent site that told me how to connect the power connections to a 4pin molex.I think the molex is overvolted although, mainly because the fan is rated at 2800rpm max, but on speedfan, it's registered at just over 2900rpm.

Fairly low priceQuietReliableNew model utilizes screw down rather than push pin Included instructions are outdated and poorDoes not include 'push pin' style hold downs for ease of install I've utilized 3 of these over the years in Intel and AMD based systems. The original version included 'push pin' style retention, significantly like the factory Intel heat sinks use. Really easy to install, but hardcore overclockers like to see screw down sort retention. The new model DOES NOT consist of the push pin style retention brackets. You will almost certainly want to remove your motherboard to install the new model, in order to acquire access to the backside of the motherboard for bracket placement (the brackets sandwich the motherboard). Also, like numerous have mentioned, go to Xigmatek's internet site which has the updated directions. The included directions are for prior versions. The directions are extremely poor, but if you have knowledge with heat sinks you can struggle by way of it. On my ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard, I had to grid down one of the brackets to stop speak to with a capacitor on the motherboard. Even so a pain in the rear the install is, this is a great cooler at the price tag range.

Silent at low speed, Slightly a lot more efficient than stock cooler with my 955be Ɣ C at low/idle) ,Incredibly successful for its size and weight, Inexpensive... This is also the very first heatsink I've purchased that I did not feel the will need to lap myself (a.k.a. the surface was prepared perfectly) which I can not say of my much more high end coolers like my True or SI-120. Also it was Very effortless to mount on my DFI DK 790FXB-M3H5 with memory in the closest slots. Can only be mounted with the air blowing vertically, even though this does not matter in my case as I have a top rated exhause over my CPU. For circumstances with the PSU mounted in the best this heatsink will not get suitable airflow unless you mount it facing your graphics card which is a entire new problem. Mounting on an AMD program did not Look secure, but following mounting it I have tried to fight with it and it is staying dead in place. The Intel mounts are the horribly annoying 4 twist-lock pins which under no circumstances appear to want to snap in (although I believe this is the only mounting Intel mobos have stock, so that is Intel's fault and not Xigma)

- inexpensive- works nicely- great value- can cool a quad core CPU- fins can be removed- rubber fan mounts eradicate vibration - push pins are harder to lock in than stock Intel version- a bit too tall for a HTPC/Desktop style case- could be wider- a bit noisey (white noise) I bought this to replace the stock cooling on my QX6700. It didn't disappoint as it dropped my idle temps by 10C and totally loaded temps by 30C.I was concerned about the height of the heatsink as it was going into my Silverstone LC03V HTPC case. Thankfully, the height is ideal (within millimeters) with the cover closed.I did have to remove some of the fins to accommodate a bar that runs along the top rated of my case. The fins can be effortlessly removed using a flathead screwdriver to slide them off. This didn't have an effect on the capacity for me to mount the fan working with the rubber mounts. The fan itself is a bit noisey, but it's not too negative. The sound is white noise and not a whining sound (which I've heard from some other fans), so it doesn't bother me.

Cools my AMD Phenom 9950 BE Wonderfully!Fits Superbly on my MSI k9a Platnum v.1 MB (with 4 ocz Reaper sticks... does not interfere with ram slots)Fits a Second fan and comes with added rubber mounts.Maxed out my chips stable capability @ 3.15 mhz (or thats the very best my understanding got me...@ load of 55-57 (ambient temp about 80F) With artic silver 5 very first day (Temp been dropping with curing time.)Superb cooling possible* if seated on cpu just right. AMD cooler clip a bit on the flimsy side.clip did not hold cooler down tight adequate slid off of center soon after a couple days temps went thru the roof.had to modify clip for more tension with 2 modest copper heat sinks (used em as shims... works fine good and snug)Takes a cautious watchful eye to seat heat pies on CPU. They barely fit so I had to use a mirror to make positive it "stayed on the mark". Nevertheless gets five eggs sine I rate a cooler on its cooling. Install first time around was uncomplicated and speedy... to make sure it stayed the second time around I had to use some ingenuity. Base was flat and even with aluminum bars and copper heatpipes. I bought a second fan (same type only with 3 pin plug) for the back & the factor is quiet to my standards I run em 100% 24ǝ. I extremely recommend this cooler. I may possibly have gotten a not so ideal mounting clip but we all know it can be a "cr@p shoot" today with anything. Or maybe was a bit heavy with the second fan and I bumped it with my constant tinkering.

CheapCools very wellNot super heavyNot super longSimple install None This cooler must have been updated by the manufacturer not too long ago, mainly because unlike people claim, the cooler I got had the "extra" mounting bracket parts included, no need to have at all to purchase the separate mounting bracket.I was a bit ticked-off when I located every component integrated in the separate mounting bracket kit inside the cooler box, I didn't require to get the bracket at all. So if you have a LGA 775񳁴񳅆 socket, no need to have for the additional kit.

Dropped the temps on my E8200 12-14 deg from the stock HSF. Fan is dead silent compared to the stock HSF that came with my processor. Fit nicely in my Silverstone LC-ten case. I was rather disappointed that the push pin clips didn't come as described. If the push pins no longer come, the description need to be updated accordingly. I would have prefered a down draft kind HSF to help in cooling my on board GPU. Other than getting to absolutely eliminate the MB from my case to mount the HS, I'm very satisfied with the efficiency therefore far. I anticipate the temps to drop another 3-6 deg as soon as the thermal interface material burns in appropriately.

AMD 64 x2 5600+ brisbane 2.9ghz running at three.two with vcore at 1.4-1.41 and this thing keeps it around high 20s idle and low 40s at load with decent airflow in my case. Wish the AM2 mounting clip didn't force it to take in and exhaust air vertically. Putting the fan onto the heatsink was sort of confusing, but I just looked at it for a few seconds ahead of understanding what the hell I was supposed to do. Threw the thermal paste packet away and utilized some arctic silver 5.

Good temperatures compared to my last heatsink (rcx-z1) Idles at air temperature and max heat test puts it at 50-52C. And those temps are with a horrible thermal compound job on my part. Picture if i was excellent at applying thermal paste. The fan pushes lots of air, and the heatsink itself is pretty tiny. Good overclocking with this thing. strange airflow style... You can either have it pull air from the power provide (bad idea) or have it pull air from right up against a video card (bad concept). Luckily i have a nicely ventilated case with blasting fans all over. I wish they would have made it so it takes air from the front of the case and pushes it to the back. would be a fantastic passive cooler too i believe.

-Really Quiet-Quite Cool-Uncomplicated to install except for a tiny hiccup (below) -Did not come with the K8/AM2 retention bracket as pictured, and a stock bracket is too significant to securely fasten the heatsink. Since of this, I had to use the other way of mounting for AMD boards, which wasn't extremely difficult.-Manual is vague Initial time installing an aftermarket cooler. Much easier than I thought it would be to install. I'm running a Phenom II x4 955 @ three.6 GHz. With the stock heatsink, it idled at 47 C and at load was 63 C. With this heatsink, idle at 37 C and load at 55 C. Certainly worth the get.
