- Switching to the AM2 clip was a breeze and installation was just as uncomplicated.- Enjoy the tiny fan controller included in the package. It's sittin' fairly atop my case- It cools like absolutely nothing I've owned prior to. I haven't overclocked my CPU however (Athlon 64 X2 4800+), but the stock ƒ.5ghz) idle temperature is a healthy 27c. Can't wait to push this thing to its limits.- It's ultra-silent. None so far. This is excellent if you have a straightforward gaming machine.

Cools my E8400 to temps before I overclocked it and then some when it runs idle. Stock HSF was substantially noisier and didn't cool as effectively. For motherboard fan manage plug it into the CPU fan plug on your motherboard and set the fan setting to "voltage" in the bios setting. Worked for me on my motherboard. Cooler is whisper quiet when the CPU is idle. I hear my tough drives spin and the video card fan rather. Not seriously a con, but the fan is barely audible when the CPU is under load but not practically as loud as the stock HSF. But my video card fan is far more audible below load also specifically whilst gaming or running F@H so not truly a con like I mentioned. I would have gotten the 120mm incarnation of this cooler, but I was worried it would have hit my northbridge heatsink and this a single barely cleared it so I'm positive I created the suitable buy. If you're on a spending budget and have space constraints, this is the cooler to get.

This is a lovely heatsink. Even though my RAM modules one more motherboard set of heatsinks are genuinely close to the CPU on my M2N-sli deluxe motherboard - the circular set of fins clears those totally fine. I really like the truth that the fan speed adjustment is manual, rather than automatic. This enables you full control more than how loud it is. It also means, nonetheless, that you have to be conscientious about turning the fan up to full speed if you are going to be undertaking something that's actually CPU intensive - like video games. Ƒ) It leaves the CPU a couple degrees warmer than the normal AMD heatsink does. This means that even at full fan speed, my AMD 5200 Windsor dual core CPU crosses over the 70ºC highest recommended temperature on a hot summer day when playing SecondLife. The old heatsink/fan was significantly louder, but it did keep the chip a degree or two under that mark. ƒ) The directions recommend prying on the bracket with a screwdriver as you install and eliminate an AMD processor. This may be valuable from time to time - but be very careful; if you apply a very good deal of force and the tool slips, you could break a component off your motherboard. Words to the wise: (a) It's finest to get rid of your motherboard from the case ahead of attempting to install this heatsink. (b) Be sparing with the thermal grease; use an quantity about the size of a grain of rice for each surfaces - if you spread the stuff like cake frosting, it will in fact make the CPU warmer than it would be with just the bare surfaces touching. (c) Learn what the manufacturer says is the maximum temperature for the CPU. Then uncover a way to watch the CPU core temperature. Some motherboard producers give software program for this. (c) The fins are fragile, but not sharp. You surely wouldn't want to drop this issue on the floor. (d) Often, you might locate that your cpu will be stuck to either this heatsink or to your old one, and it will come out of its socket when you eliminate the heatsink. In that case, don\'t forget how you cautiously place the chip with the right orientation, generating specific the socket lever is up as you gently drop the pins in.

Lots of copper and a mirror like finish which makes for fewer gaps in between cooler and CPU - Fan speed controller is effortless to use - two to five degree difference among this and stock Intel and 1 to 3 on my AM3 employing Zalman’s included thermal paste with fan speed at lowest setting - Straightforward to set up. It took longer to eliminate the stock coolers and clean off old paste than to set up new cooler and paste… Motherboard fan controller WILL NOT control the speed of this fan. My sentry 2 fan controller would (Don't know why.) The fan on high is somewhat loud. (At almost 2500RPM it not a surprise, just a fact.) The ZALMAN CNPS7000C-Cu cools considerably greater than this for a few buck much more I purchased this somewhere else only since they were being clearanced out. I installed them on two practically identical systems (Performance sensible) and I am please with both. You can get far better cooling but for their size and beneath thirty dollar price they are good coolers. Does the job. Looks true good and is quite quiet. Awkward installation for AMD users. The Intel spring clip is installed by default so the AMD version has to be installed in it's place. That implies the fan has to be removed from the heatsink portion. Not really tough but it took patience. The trick is to line the clip up in the channel and hold it although the screws go back in it. The unit is pretty solid once back together and installation didn't demand some of the gymnastics that some less expensive brands put you by way of. Fan speed typical as 2300 RPM. 95 watt Phenom x3 CPU set up per stock settings measures in the 41 degrees C range most of the time. Would operate fine with the newer 82 Watt Athlon II CPUs and anything in the 65 Watt range.

Low profile (this was purchased for HTPC use in an Antec Micro Fusion case) and big heat dissipation area. Incredibly quiet, with third lead for RPM sensor. Tricky install for AMD Socket 939. No Socket 478 assistance. I utilised one particular index finger from every hand to install mine, with one particular pushing down on the best of the clip, and the other guiding the lower clip into spot over the plastic heat sink support catch. It took a little creative thinking to come up with that solution but it worked. I absolutely wouldn't recommend working with a screwdriver, simply because with the force necessary, a slip will most likely result in critical harm.

*Keeps CPU cool. *Looks cool in a case with a side panel. *Comes with an external fan speed controller so you can turn the fan down when you're not running your pc hard and it's optional to hook up in case you don't want to.*Comes with thermal grease which for a initially time builder like me, you don't have to worry no matter whether you're getting the suitable stuff or not.*Locks down tight to the processor.*Pretty clear directions specially considering that it was my very first create I wanted to make positive almost everything was appropriate. *I would have taken a half egg off if I could but this is mainly user error: switching the latches from the Intel latch to the AMD is type of a discomfort and you seriously have to make positive you don't mess it up otherwise you can't push it down to lock.*The heatsink fins can be bent easily if you're not cautious, but you can just as very easily bend them back if you accidentally do so not truly a huge deal. *Once again, make certain if you're utilizing it for an AMD processor that the latch is set up appropriate. Also if the latch is set right, you don't even need a screwdriver as the directions say you can just use your finger.*I can't say substantially about how cool it keeps my CPU when running it tough due to the fact I've yet to put it under heavy strain (I've only had it just over a day) but when set at the lowest fan speed setting with the external controller it hovers in between 34C and 35C mostly staying at 34C.

- Low profile so it fits in an HTPC case, mine becoming a Lian Li PC-C33B- Comparatively affordable, specially at another big box store- Looks cool, even if it literally isn't - Uses nuts-and-bolts mounting bracket for Intel 1156, so you have to eliminate the MB to install. Even so, attachment more solid and secure than stock heatsink.- 3-pin fan attachment doesn't work with PWM - you have to use the cheesy plastic external rheostat supplied, aka "FanMate"- Did not decrease CPU temperature on i5-750 any additional than the stock heatsink, plus it runs at full speed 񢑄rpm) all the time unless you install your FanMate, so it's not considerably quieter. - Becoming a noob, I installed three occasions with distinct applications of Artic Silver: Very first time, too considerably paste, ran 5c hotter than stock. Second time, not adequate paste, ran way too hot (idled at 59c!), 3rd time followed directions from Artic's site, came back down to ~ stock readings. Spent way too significantly time with isopropyl and q-guidelines.- The LL PC-C33B case doesn't appear to work quite well with downward-blowing heatsinks. I put in a Zalman 9500A and decreased temps 10c from stock񴝈C. - 9500A uses the exact same 1156 socket adapter as 7000C so I didn't have to eliminate the MB once again.

Exact same good Zalman quality. Comes with the newer sort fanmate controller with 30in cable, so you don't have to mount the controller appropriate subsequent to the fan. Keeps my Athlon II good and chilly. Yikes! The install reminds me of a incredibly poor incident I once had involving a socket A cooler and a screwdriver. Whilst not at all difficult, any install involving pressing down really difficult on a tension plate with a screwdriver should be revised. Yes, the included directions tell you to do this! If you are searching for an Intel cooler, this is it. If the install doesn't scare you away, it is a phenomenal AMD cooler as properly.

-Low height, fits in my less than 4" tall Antec MicroFusion Remote 350 case.-Excellent cooling.-Quieter than stock AMD cooler.-Looks fairly. -Still audible to my sensitive ears from a number of feet away even when spinning at low speeds. Not a poor cooler but it wasn't quiet enough for me to want to continue working with it in my HTPC so I ended up replacing it with a different cooler that was noticeably quieter although nonetheless getting about the exact same height and only a bit wider.

Zalman design and top quality. 3 wire fans, not PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) compatible. I picked these up on clearance for 30% off. For the cost they're excellent value. The actual cooler style is classic Zalman, slivers of alu and cu held together under pressure then polished where they meet the heatsink. You have to remove the stock intel clip to install it on an AMD CPU. It's fiddly function, but not complicated at all and significantly less difficult than installing the Intel variant which calls for the motherboard to be removed. If you're motherboard supports fan speed manage by way of voltage adjustment, they'll function just fine. My Gigabyte motherboard was able to control the fan. My Asus board only supported a 4 wire PWM speed modulation so it ran at full speed. I utilised the supplied fanmate and set it at just under 2K RPM.

Zalman makes some decent merchandise; especially their GT circumstances. All the fans are an immediately after believed as far as I am concerned. This one really should function well. Would have been nice to design some thing that attaches to the screws rather of one brace going across. I bought an additional model. The big guy which weighs about two pound. So don't purchase the major guys unless your case is stationary. Moving your case could result in board damage. Because Zalman is selling the huge orbs for am3; they actually should stamp out a bracket that holds these fans on at a duel axis instead of the one to prevent side to side motion. There are installation vidios at Zalmans to see what I mean.Make the mold and stamp them out. I will keel the fan in case you do some day.Enjoy Newegg!!!

In terms of noise, this is one of the quietest coolers I've ever owned. In cooling my Phenom II x6, this cooler is totally awful. I tried benching it with pi95 and it hit 67C; well beyond AMDs recommended temp max of 62C. I'm returning it. Overall, it's not an awful cooler, it's just poorly labeled on the newegg web site. Zalman clearly states on their internet site to not use it with 125w AMD CPUs. Newegg should add this to the item description.

Still a quite aesthetic, and quiet fan. Even so, watching the temperature on my cpu for several months, I see it's been seriously significantly greater than with the old noisy stock AMD fan and heatsink. The stock cooler reliably keeps the cpu core temperature under 70ºC which is the maximum allowable, according to AMD's manual. Now, in order to do that, the stock fan gets really noisy at times. This zalman fan is incredibly quiet, but even with the maximum fan speed, temperatures creep up to 80º and 90ºC routinely, when I'm utilizing programs like second life, and google earth. It makes me worry about the health of my cpu.
