i bought this heatsink some time ago to replace the extremely standard 1 that was simply stuck on. since then ive not had a reboot mainly because of my system temp exceeding threshold. hardly ever does the North bridge best 40'c below challenging load. it was a bit of a discomfort to mount but overall it was worth it. for the income this is a worthy candidate for most systems that aren't heavily oc'd.

It gets the job accomplished it cools far better than the stock heat sink with a fan on it. You can mount it on any northbridge or southbridge simply because its adjustable. The base is really flat. It looks like copper but its aluminum. The base is painted so i sanded the paint off and lapped it to a mirrored finish. My technique: AMD 5600+ x2, Gigabyte Ga-MA69GM-S2H.

Excellent price, quality material, uncomplicated to install, rapid newegg shipping, comes with thermal grease none Used thermal tape and attached this heatsink on the ICH of my intel board. Purchased temps down by 15C (via Speedfan). Fantastic adequate for its purpose

This tiny fanless heatsink was in a position to cool far better than my old heatsink w/fan. Stock mobo heatsinks just suck. NONE

Simple installation. None. Utilized this to replace my bridge chip the fan died on. The fins are pretty tall so I had to offset a bit to clear my video card. Operates great enough that I don't want the fan.

I am certain it functions, but... this one particular did not come with the nuts that are required to mount the little arms needed to secure it to the MB. I will attempt to supply these from my place of employment rather than send it back. Some people would most probably not be in a position to uncover these components.

Nice "copper" color. Matches nicely with some of my other hardware. Dissipates the heat quite properly in my really slimline Lian-Li Computer C35B. I bought this largely for asthetic purposes to replace the pretty clunky stock heatsink that came on my Gigabyte board. Keeps the northbridge acceptably cool. None to believe of. Wish it genuinely was made of copper, but I'm very partial to copper. I Appreciate ZALMAN, INC.

Universal style lets it fit even on video cards with the GPU mounted at a 45-degree angle (BFG card with NVidia GPU in my case). Obviously you won't be installing any other cards in the adjacent slot(s) even though. Difficult to deal with tiny nuts but that's the price tag you pay for flexibility for universal compatibility -- and it's worth it. Looks like a 40mm fan can be mounted on top if necessary -- just have to discover screws the correct size to bite into the fins.

fairly straightforward installationcool and silent operating voiding UR warranty I suppose . . . Its a really good cooler. Exactly where GPU's now generate a lot more heat than CPUs it crucial to have a good top quality GPU cooler. I went from a 9800 ATI card with a passive zalman heatsink but and was worried about noise in my silent computer, nonetheless this cooler is near dead quiet on silent mode.

The heatsink went together easilly and fit the motherboard fine. Unfortunetely my entire point in acquiring this was to remove the fan on my motherboard northbridge. I wound up putting it proper back on since this thing just isn't big enough or passive enough to cool efficiently. I was having lock ups so I had to put the fan back on. The only good thing is that it does have pins to hold the heatsink on. The last 3rd party one I tried I was utilizing zip ties.

Completely quiet (of course it's quiet, it has no fan). Sufficient chipset cooling providing you have airflow over this passive heatsink. For use on NorthBridge chipset, you'll need to have to eliminate the mobo to release the pushpins on the stock fan/heatsink unit it's replacing. A minor inconvienence. Noisey fan bearings on the NB chipset cooler on my Asus A8N5X mobo prompted me to try this passive heatsink method. There was a scant 2mm clearence from the tallest of a series of capacitors on my video card, but it cleared. This heatsink provided about the exact same cooling as the original fan/heatsink with no direct auxillery airflow other than provided by the front and rear case fans. I mounted a low speed/quiet 80mm fan to blow directly on this heatsink and brought the NB chipset tmeps down yet another 4 or five degrees C. with no adding any appreciable fan noise.

As other individuals have stated, this is NOT a CPU cooler, it is a chipset cooler (and no fan, it is just a heatsink.) I have asked Newegg to revise the description & category but as it hasn't occurred however, hopefully this review will maintain a person from buying some thing that doesn't suit their use. It is a fine chipset cooler, nonetheless. As stated, it's not really for CPUs; check the Zalman site for utilizes.

Excellent for an old Abit IS7 or other intel 865 chipset motherboards. The IS7 northbridge fan normally fails and makes a negative grinding noise. I can finally use a fanless heatsink for this for no noise. Couldn't figure out how to use the included mounting bracket. Rather, just get some thermal adhesive. I used Arctic Silver ASTA-7G thermal adhesive and this thing will stay on permanently. Permanent mounting solutions are fantastic for old mobos that don't need to have any additional upgrades in the future.

For clarification, the NB32K is a NORTHBRIDGE CHIPSET COOLER, NOT A CPU COOLER. It is aluminum. It performs as stated in the particulars on the Zalman site. It is mainly designed to replace a defective or damaged northbridge fan/cooler (as in the ABIT IS-7 series of motherboards). none If you attempt to cool a CPU with this heatsink, you're in Major TROUBLE (for a number of factors, not the least of which would be your total lack of understanding of how a cpu requirements to be cooled).

Fanless... fits multiple chipsets...Second 1 I've owned, it actually finishes out my "Zalman" cooled machine small bitty hardware, difficult for massive hands. Have to take away motherboard to install. It is a chipset cooler, would definately advocate going "over the top" with artic silver, and not the included compound

Came with thermal grease, looks good. None Replaced my stock fan-cooled Northbridge heatsink on my Asus mobo with this one following the stock fan began whining. This was simple to install. I thought I broke the Northbridge chip when I heard a crack when I removed the old heatsink, but all was OK. Reuse the old square electrical insulator when mounting a new heatsink. WOW, does that Northbridge get hot. This new heatskink works well due to the fact the complete thing is too hot to maintain my fingers on (it's pulling the heat out of the chip nicely), but I guess it's not too hot since the laptop is stable after running for a few hours. I may possibly get a small fan to cool off this HOT, HOT Northbridge chip.

Fanless design, which replaced the noisy stock fan on my motherboard. It reduced the temp of my northbridge from mid to hi 65 C to about 54 C (under load). Superb compatibility design. This ought to function with 99% of all motherboards. The Aluminum is less conductive than a copper heatsink so the performance isn't as impressive as I would have liked, but it does its job. Zalman ought to release a copper heatsink for the northbridge for those of us, which genuinely want cooling.

I first utilized one of these to replace the ASUS fan on an old MB a couple of years ago. Now, I just like to maintain one of these handy with a couple of 40mm fans. It's a chunk of aluminum. What could be bad? Properly, not a con, but some way to attach a fan would be nice. As it is, I bent the fingers in at the corners of the heatsink. It just puts pressure on the fan screws and they hold the tiny fan with out any difficulty. It beats having to R&R the motherboard when a fan starts getting loud.
