Excellent "portable"case. No difficulties with installs - I have a number of of them. Works nicely from computer to computer if you have more than 1 for transfering files. Fan in it is a plus to maintain drive cooler. "Mikey likes it!" Fan can get a tiny noisy with time compared to quiet tower fans but no massive deal - > just clean it with compressed gas and brush. You will also notice some dust make up on the fan grill with time to but that is no challenge either. Dont be fooled! This is not a hot swap, plug and pray model - Bear in mind it is SATA! Assume about which SATA port you plug it into. Also: Based on your mobo; if it is out when you boot up, the technique will look for this SATA drive and result in a delay in beginning up when it is not there. That is a mobo issue, not this case issue. Appear for Mobo with Hot Plug functions in SATA controller (e.g. ASRock) to stay away from this. You can nevertheless only take the drive in and out when the Pc is down but at least you dont have the boot up delay issue.

Very nicely constructed and strong. They match my Antec server case like a correctly fitted glove. There is no slop in the match and the lock is strong and tight - so is the manage. The crucial lock turns the power on and off merely and effortlessly. Two keys are supplied with each case. A heavy SATA date connector is also supplied - it was plenty long enoungh in my substantial server case. Inserting and securing my Western Digital RE3 SATA drives was a breeze working with the supplied screws. Each the power LED and the activity LED operate specifically as they need to, and neither is overly vibrant. Windows 7 identified my hard drives employing these, and rated the OS drives at five.9 - the identical as they rate connected without having this added drive case. Data transfers were no issue and as quick as the Enterprise WD hard drives permitted. There is no con - unless you let someone con you into pondering there is. The LEDs may not function with all challenging drive brands - BYTECC does warn of this in the supplied literature. I checked all connections, secured my drives, and let Windows 7 x64 Ultimate do the rest. I have zero issue hot swapping with these drive circumstances, and like them greater than much much more pricey ones I've utilised in the previous. They not only look good, they have a fantastic military spec feel in your hands as you use them. Absolutely nothing about them is flimsy or weak. They also have a little ࿈mm) internal front-mounted fan to enable cool the mounted drive. Those fans have been extremely quiet in my use over the past two months they've been installed and running. They aren't necessary if your drives run as cool as mine do - so you can disconnect them. Like any new element, you could get a terrible a single - just pay consideration whilst setting these instances up.

Easy to place with each other. Very sturdy drive cage. Has a tiny fan (thats not also annoying) to keep items cool. It turns off the drive and fan when the lock is in the "open" position. I use it in a RAID 1 array with 2x 1TB WD low power drives. Fantastic for data redundancy and straightforward drive removal.

Sturdy all-metal building, regular five.25" drive depth, SATA or Molex power connectors, can be configured for SATA I or II use. External SATA connectors can result in cable harm. Purchased a bunch of these for a project at operate...they're seriously very exceptional. Nonetheless, I identified that the pins in some SATA cables could be damaged (bent beyond repairability) if you tried to connect them to this unit. I consider it was a mixture of inexpensive SATA cables in the external eSATA housing I was working with, and this unit's external SATA connectors getting a touch also thick. Not all SATA cables seem to have this problem although, but it's one thing to maintain in mind when you're plugging this issue in.

Solidly constructed, exceptional value. No separate trays obtainable, a minor quibble. I'll just order an added kit for the tray and I'll have a spare chassis. These are very reasonably priced for how well produced they are. The only issue I've had was the actually stupid faceplate on my office Computer (a Dell) that I had to use a Dremel on in order to set up this. The five.25" bezel on that machine is not created for complete-size or pass-thru access. I guess don't attempt installing a single of these on a Mac either! Installs and operates completely on the two Coolermaster situations I have. It truly tends to make sense to me that the unit will not power up in the UNLOCKED position. Absolutely nothing else to add since it's uncomplicated and just works, my favourite feature.

Swap SATA or SATA II challenging disk drives in and out of your laptop via a 5.5 inch slot in the front of your case (where a DVD drive would go). If you're running a RAID array, this is a must have product! Guidelines could be a bit clearer, but unit performs extremely incredibly effectively. No negatives on this item. SATA II raid customers, purchase THIS solution. Shows Hard Disk Drive activity through LED on front of housing and has whisper quiet fan constructed in to preserve that 10,000 rpm drive super cool! Nice aluminum housing instead of the far more common ABS plastic.Order this one. Appears wonderful in the black!

Incredibly simple style, mounts very easily and is easily exchangeable. No troubles working with it whatsoever. The front-mounted fan wasn't working initially. Following I noticed it I located a modest cable near the back of the case that wasn't completely plugged in. Once I snugged it up it worked fine, so no large deal.

This rack was specifically what I was searching for: space saving all aluminum design and style - affordable.NOTE: You can quickly get rid of the pin that locks the drive with a screw driver. That way you don't want a essential to power on/swap. You require to want to purchase much more whole kits for additional drawers. I can't seem to locate any drawers sold separately.

I have two of these in a Raidmax Sagitta case, and they perform good. Installed two indentical 500 GB Samsung drives, and have had no challenges in my RAID 1. SATA energy connecter didn't seem to fit suitable. Utilized four pin molex rather. Worked fine, as anticipated, but bummed that it didn't fit. Aside from getting a four pin molex shortage in the future, operates excellent. You don't need to install the HDD light cable, the lights work correct anyway, because the lights are controlled my the board in the cage.

best for server style setups or if you want to be in a position to swap out your challenging drive with no obtaining the need to open up the case. Also could be employed to add a means of information backup that can be removed for secure storage (fire/theft)fan delivers air flow over the HDD to retain the temps downLights assist keep you informed on the status of ur really hard drive No eggs off due to the fact these are minor but,1 - since the complete unit is aluminum, would be good if they integrated rubber inserts to where the hdd attaches to the drive case, to help absorb the shock.two - I am running a residence server, so I dont have to worry about safety, it would be good if this was a push button to lock hdd in and allow it. I now have to make sure I Never drop these keys.three - wish the fan had a removable guard that could catch some dust just before it hits the hdd. I dont know why my original setup was acting up, but I have all eight of these functioning in my newer case (N82E16811119152) and they are all powered through sata connections. Every single 1 has the fan functioning. If you have any concerns or comments, feel cost-free to gmail my nickname

All metal construction. Fan is part of the tray so you don't have to open the case if it fails. Utilizing Seagate drives, the activity LED stays on all the time. When there is activity, the LED gets a tiny bit brighter. It's difficult to inform if there is activity or if the drive is regularly becoming accessed. With Western Digital drives, the LED goes out when there is no activity. Bytecc tech assistance is blaming the Seagate drive design, but I have no challenge with the activity LED when Seagate drives are employed in a backplane from a diverse manufacturer.

Yes, if you're dumb enough to leave it on the ground outside like I did after, you can run it more than with a automobile with the HDD in it and you will not have a difficulty. Aluminum beats plastic anyday for this application. Other then that it performs as advertised. It's a straight thru connection, meaning it makes use of the HDD's actual SATA & Power Connections. So if you're going to swap this out alot keep that in thoughts. Also the fan is useless, but if you're employing a suitable case it's not needed anyways. It does extremely seldom not hot swap (requires a reboot to see the drive). I've only tried it on this 1 MOBO and controller card so it could incredibly effectively be restricted to my equipment.

Nice, Solid construction.Looks Good...kinda cool looking. The drive rack slides in and out quite easily.Front Energy & Activity lights.Accepts Each SATA & 4-Pin Power Connections. Affordable Price tag. The fan is of low quality. I personal 6 of these, and on every a single, the fan has failed spectacularly in 6-8 months. Even so, it is not a massive deal to replace, or only remove the offending fan with a greater excellent 1.Other than that, this is quite good for what it is.

-Front 40mm fan is fairly quiet-All metal contruction (mostly aluminum) disipates heat, don't genuinely require the front fan operating-Door flap for when the drive is removed-four pin power connector for older power supplies-shallow depth (same length as my CDROM) -Utilizes drive connection to connect to fixed bay, may well turn out to be unreliable soon after numerous hundred remove & installs-Door flap doesn't seal all the way around, gaps on the sides-Pull handle is plastic, but appears solid, not flimsy at all Like a preceding assessment, require to have the essential switch locked, otherwise the drive doesn't get power. For the price, it's one particular of the finest solutions out there!Leaving my seagate in SATA 1 mode, the drive was still able to detect drive usage and lit the suitable LED on the front.

Having been placing with each other electronics given that I was 3 yrs old, I think I can inform out of the box if a item has it or not, and boy what a jewel this issue is. The whole unit comes shrink wrapped so nothing can be lost in shipping. Comes with a good locking SATA cable, the power cable for SATA 1., and a excellent provide of screws. Put this in my box and no lights... ooops, this one particular requirements the locking crucial turned to Lock (nice and secure, uncomplicated to turn off as well). I hold mine for a mirror of my startup disk, and I execute a copy/backup only on demand, so I maintain it turned off most of the time to retain it healthy, and that's a plus. Nice intelligent lights, quality construction for the price. If it stays wholesome, it's a actual winner. If I have any issues I'll make confident to post an update. It didn't come with some nice cost-free gaming software program or a Michelin calendar.... Switch for the light functions, SATA two. or 1. (will need to have the cable) is good I guess. Actually comes with an aluminum cover for the HD tray. 2 keys. So where's the dancing girls ?

Protects challenging drive. Makes it possible for for effortless hot-swapping of tough drives if you order a second chassis. Only a minor quibble: I wish it used it's personal connector on the rear to conserve put on-and-tear to the actual drive. This utilizes the drives own connectors, which could put on with continuous swapping. To address my minor con, the unit would have to be longer. If you have a chassis with restricted space, this is an excelent selection to have a protected, hot-swappable tricky drive. I will definately purchase once again.

I have 6 of these so far. All work fantastic, so far. I will be obtaining a few more as i convert my FTP server over to all SATA drives. The important turning the drives off is a great feature. Often the drives have to be loosely installed in the tray, the tray slid into the bay (out of the personal computer) and then tighten the HDD screws to get the suitable alignment the first time. To the poster that says you can't hotswap.... your Mobo has to assistance it, you have to allow the appropriate setting in bios. The Asus P5Q-Deluxe, for instance, you have to enable AHCI for the HDD's. Its Tricky w/XP, you have to connect HDD to the SIL5723 SATA controller, load O/S, load Intel Matrix Storage driver, then the HDD can be moved to the ICH10R controller, and drives will then hotswap. Or you can F6 and install drivers at install.

Basic style, Strong aluminum case, Fantastic manage for removing drive, decent Power/locking switch... Most importantly... It performs and is cheap. Wonderful value for the price tag!!! The fan operates... but... the fan is cheapish in design & placement. Bought four unique enclosure models (for testing), the BYTECC BT-135E is by far the ideal top quality enclosure for the cost. A greater fan & better placement (like underneath) would make this a five egg item. The drive enclosure is employed in a backup resolution. They're so cost-effective that I've bought additional units just so I could have additional trays setup for a backup drive rotation. Would be great if trays could be purchased separately. Note: I employed a PCI Sata controller card to connect the drive.

Sturdy extruded aluminum construction. Handle racks drive case in and out rather than pulling or pushing. Crucial switch acts as power switch, so moving a spinning drive does not happen. Drive Active LED and Power LED work devoid of motherboard connection. Spring-loaded door closes when drive is removed. 40mm cooling fan, in drive situation, runs only when powered on. Really well created. Cheap. Key has no actual security value and will not keep place in lock for lengthy. 5 screws used to secure drive within the drive case. As a result, not ideal for working with numerous drives with 1 drive case. Fan not quite quiet, but simply replaced. To use, with no possessing to reboot just before and immediately after utilizing the removable drive, this SATA port on motherboard have to be set to AHCI in lieu of IDE. Note that Windows does not like such a transform soon after installation.
