I purchased this over a year ago to replace another Antec PSU that had died on me (after ӱyrs of service, so I was fairly happy). So far it's been a beauty. As I have a basic make, nothing at all.

- Typical quality Antec make- Energy efficient, blows my old TruePower 430 out the window- Very quiet - Cabling could be a bit a lot more organized, but that is accurate of all PSU's- No Energy fan cable for mobo

- Power effective - Quiet(at least in the beginning) - Weird audible noises(see other thoughts) Right after employing it about 7 months typically, my PSU started to make this smaller annoying audible sounds; it sounds like there's a pebble there in rattling around. The sound comes and goes randomly and it has gotten louder. Any person hunting for a really quiet PSU need to appear elsewhere.

The fan is nonetheless spinning. I had a neighborhood shop create a (basic) 2003 server for the company i function for. They employed this Antec Earthwatts EA-500 PSU. Random re-boots, (caused) undesirable sectors (on two diff HDs, now going on 3rd), information corruption, countless hours of frustration. As numerous have reflected, this solution is not compatible with the majority of UPSsSuch as: APC BR1500LCD, an (older) 900VA Cyberpower - Even when applied with (or w/out) an APC LE1200 Voltage Regulator. Pull the plug & the machine re-boots. (again)Repeatedly triggered physical damage to devices inside. I called APC. IMO APC knew the PSU was the concern but instead of saying such they just try and upsell you to their clever* (or greater) 踰+ UPS line claiming the improved 'transfer time' will solve the challenge. I didn't have the guts to break the warranty/seal on the server till lately & that's when i (looked up &) located other individuals reflecting the (exact) similar problems with this PSU. Challenging to express the quantity of pain this PSU has triggered. The lack of disclosure w/a significant incompatibility (w/the majority) like this is surely walking on thin ice. I really feel severely let down between Antec & the organization that constructed this machine. - (who carries really a bit of Antec goods)I'd give this product eggs if i could.

the 500watt earthwatts is the finest psu for the money. Runs quiet and robust. no cons. i have two of them now, from newegg, and an antec neoHE 550watt, and just bought a 380w earthwatts yesterday. Antec psu rocks. They are dependable and quiet.

Slid into the case with extremely little prodding. The unit runs quite quietly and hasn't brought on any challenges to date. Cables connected rapidly and simply. There are a ton of cables coming off the back that have to be jammed into an already pretty little case. A superior cable management system would be extremely nice. The original PSU in this computer was a puny 250W that barely ran the motherboard. This 500W unit sucks back incredibly small further energy until it's necessary. On average it appears to be pulling significantly less energy than the original 250W.

I've applied this PSU for my past handful of builds. It is Antec top quality, and could most likely final me another build. I am at the moment operating an e8400 @ four.2 ghz and a ATI 4890 1GB. As with all Antec items, the reliability is off the charts! I bought this when it was โ from Newegg, this PSU is on sale every now and then and is worth the wait for the cost drop. I wouldn't thoughts paying more since it can deal with a lot of load, you WILL get your moneys worth out of this child either way. I will keep this around as a spare PSU when I build a new rig in a few years.

Incredibly quiet. Lots of connectors. Decrease energy consumption = less heat. None. I bought this to replace a 500W energy supply that died suddenly. It is extraordinary quiet compared to the unit that came with my Computer. It had a lot more connectors than I'll ever require, but that's OK. Seems like a strong unit.

I've been making use of Antec power supplies for 7 years now and only 1 of them has ever gone poor on me. I ordered two of these for new builds recently and they worked completely fine. Only 4 SATA energy connectors? It seems like they could have accomplished with out so quite a few Molex/PCIe connectors and added a couple much more SATA connectors. But hey, it's most likely fantastic adequate for 97% of people out there. None.

As for the folks crying about the PSU DOA, it happens with Everything, mobos, vid cards, sound cards, even ram. Get more than it and get a new one particular. Worked well for 9 months, never turned off, powered a freeNAS box with 5 HDDs without having a difficulty till recently. When it died, it didn't fry my mobo/components. Died on me last week (Early Oct 2009). Was a massive storm, probably got knocked out by a surge. But its behind a surge protector, protector by no means tripped, and the rest of the electronics on that surge protector (including my six year old desktop computer which also has an Antec PSU) didn't get harmed at all. Just appears to me that if all the other electronics on the strip didn't get harmed, why would this one particular get fried? Anticipated a lot more than a 9 month lifespan outta it. Can't comment on the power efficiency as I don't have any way to measure it, but I've often employed Antec PSUs and I've never ever had an problem before. Will most likely continue to purchase Antec PSUs in the future.

When you get a very good a single they're bulletproof... lots of connectors... it comes with everything you need to have to get your personal computer up and functioning the unused wires take up a lot of space, and they are tough to contain/hide...I have one of these that keeps frying my motherboards, and I am about to go nuts I have two of these powersupplies, 1 that is unfallable, and one particular that keeps frying my motherboards. So on one particular end, I have one that I really like... and on the other hand hate would be a tame word for the one particular that does not perform. I have tried to speak to Antec about this within the final year, and under no circumstances heard back from them...I want to like Antec items, but primarily based on the 50኎ nature of my encounter with their solutions, I don't know if I would get anything from them again

- Steady rails- Reasonable cost- Relatively Quiet - None truly I have had much more than a few Antec PSU's most of which are nevertheless used. They have generally been a dependable option. I use this in my Homebrew WHS server which can hold up to eight hot-swap drives... three of which are populated. It utilizes about 10 watts significantly less then the older Antec PSU it replaced.

Operates just fine with out a UPS attached to it, quiet, enough connectors for what I needed. Will not perform with either of the two APC BACK-UPS UPS units I have. Tried to use it with BACK-UPS 725 which is only rated at 450W (even though I know I'm hardly drawing that significantly), did a self test by unplugging UPS from the wall. Power provide dies then machine starts up with a loud buzz, substantially like the others who have posted the similar. Antec will not help you out, simply stating what other people have stated. The Antec response: "Most of Antec's PSU requires a pure sine wave ups backup. Standard ups backs are passive and standby... Simply because Antec makes use of a active PFC (power aspect correction) using a common ups backup will not suffice. that's why you are experiencing the dilemma". Don't purchase if you program to use it with a standard house-use UPS. I now have an high-priced paperweight, and will likely buy a Rosewill.
