This has been a *very* solid router for us. We'd only had to reboot it one time, after a power surge hit us (it apparently wasn't plugged into a protector at the time) and the settings were lost. Other than that, we get full gigabit speeds on all ports as advertised, and would recommend this router to anyone with a need for a router that is a cut above your typical $100 Linksys specials. |

Tried using the Linksys WRVS4400N first but was unable to get the VPN to work properly after spending many hours with my co-worker on it. Got the FV336G and was up and running right away. It was so simple to set up. The SSL VPN is great. Been using this for 18 months and haven't had any issues with it. |

Excellent performance. SSL VPN works well (haven't tried IPsec). Remote admin can also operate as a VPN user. Support forums are a good resource. Good fit for a small business office. This is a business-class device, so if this is your first experience with VPN, you will need to do some learning first, since even with SSL VPN, the docs assume a lot of reader knowledge. |

Cons: port forwarding issues, activex plugin cannot execute on windows guest accounts, netbios over vpn does not work.
Pros: SSL VPN, internal power supply, excellent netgear support, non-cryptic interface, dual wan, metal case, and it works! Comment:
under tight budget, i have tried solutions from linksys-cisco e.g. RVL200 which died on me; IpSec solutions which are impossible to run 'anywhere', etc.FVS336G proved to be an ACE! ease of configuration, good help file, good logging capability, and good performance really makes me appreciate the phrase "best bang for the buck". |

I installed 3 Netgear FVS336G's to replace 3 more expensive Cisco ASA's that did not offer the features the Netgear FVS336G does. The router is a stable and reliable SSL router with excellent remote access for small business, but it takes it to the next step by offering failover and load balancing! Router setup was easy and Netgear's support is simply amazing. Netgear provides 90 days of assistance in configuring this device. By this I mean they remote in and set up the VPN tunnels for you. Compare that to Cisco who doesn't even take your call! Additionally, Netgear offers an extended several year support package for these routers at a very reasonable price. I am VERY impressed with this router and with NETGEAR and their commitment to the small customer. Good job! |

I have been using this for the past one month. Purchased it mainly for the SSL VPN feature. Was able to set it up without any problem and it has been working very well. Will recommend to any one looking for a cost effective SSL VPN router. |
I've used netgear firewalls for well over 10 years now, and have zero regrets. Bought this one to protect myself from flakey ISP cable service, by hooking up a backup ADSL connection from the telephone company. Installation was really easy, just plugged it into my existing network to configure it, added the ADSL input, and then could test the failover actions. The load balancing feature is only for outgoing traffic, and operates by assigning individual VPN circuits (or protocols) to particular WAN channels. So load balancing won't increase your download speeds. It takes about 10-15 seconds max to switch to detect and react to a failed WAN link (when I disconnect the cable). A superb piece of equipment, IMHO. Should have bought one years ago.
