Had Mine for approx 9months. Works but some issues that Kinwin has not taken care of. If you use remote to power off, you MUST power cycle (switch on back of box) to get the sound to record again. Remote only good less than 10feet. I thinned the plastic (red lens from the inside) and now my remote works upto 20feet. NOT A NAS. CANNOT USE MORE THAN ONE ON SAME NETWORK (MAC Addresses are ALL THE SAME). Support is spotty. I DO LIKE MINE AND USE IT EVERY DAY OR TWO.

Seems to be a little hard to work with but I'm sure after a while you get the hang of it. But all in all its a pretty decent deal.

I bought this as a replacement for my xbox (the original one) as a multimedia device that I can LAN to my network and watch downloaded stuff directly on my TV, without transferring. Works nicely, but I find it a little slow when it comes to moving through files to find the movie/show I want to watch. All in all, pretty good buy for the price considering the next step up from this type of product is more than double.

Cons: Hard drive installationRemote rangeFAT32 only for recording

Pros: Works wellUSB interface for flash drivesLooks good HDD fan

This is a pretty good little box and works well. Only issues are installing the HDD, which is far more involved than it should be due to screw placement. The remote range and responsiveness is poor, however, get a flashlight and find where the IR is behind the smoked plastic front and drill a hole through to it. Once the IR isnt behind the plastic it works a thousand times better. The drive can be split between FAT32 and NTFS, but the NTFS partition is read only when using the built in Linux OS.

Well I was pretty excited when I saw this Media Player; for the price and the features it offered and since I have always had great service with Tiger I decided to buy it. When my order arrived I unpacked my other things and noticed the tape seal; on the box for the player, was distorted like it had been opened previously. As I examined closer I could tell it had been opened and handled because the protective film on the unit was torn off in areas and the cables were untied. To go along with that bummer, the controls for playback on the unit were pushed in and loose from the circuit board. Tiger gladly gave me an RMA and I sent it back. Not sure what the warehouse was thinking, but it should have never been shipped out without first being refurbished from the manufacturer.

I've had my unit for about 4 months now and I use it daily. It is an enclosure which you can internally add a hard drive or add one externally using the usb. Featurewise it supports many video and audio formats except wmv. It does come with media conversion software. There is no internet browser but you can play video from your network's computer drives. It effectively streams video and audio very well. As a video recorder, it records from a video source ie tv, it works well for recording shows. It supports timed recordings. Its also easy to setup with a network. I use a wired connection. Hard drives used for recording should be formated appropriately, and it supports formating. I also have an archos tv80 which costs more than twice as much and some additional features you pay extra.I found the Kingwin easier to use, and has a superior remote.

Cons: Remote control and menus operations are very slow. A bit noisy. I had to format the disk outside the box because 1.5TB is seen as a negative size by the built in software. Some Discutable Network security concerns.

Pros: Easy to use, Good recording quality, Linux based.

If you are looking for an external hard drive that can be used without computer to record and playback an almost infinite quantity of video, this is wonderful! However, this is not a NAS (Network Attached Storage) even if it got an ethernet port. You can use this port to access the shared drive of your computer to view or copy files but the box remains a client not a server. There is a world of undocumented fetures on this box. First of all, it's running BusyBox Linux with the telnet wide open and http server running a CGI demo. There is no password on the root account, so enjoy! The bad side, you guess it, is security. You must put that box behind a firewall with only clean machines on your network. Oh, BTW the MAC address seems to be hardcoded in the OS, so don't try to plug two of these boxes on the same network. Overall, this is a little wonder for the price. I wish they could sell it with the hard drive included and a good security lock down. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprise to see a forum on the tons of cool hacks you could do with this box.
