Thermatake BlacX reputation Does not let really hard drive diagnostics test the hard drives I although this difficult drive docking station would enable with diagnosing my difficult drives. It does not. Study up other net internet site evaluations and recommendations. Turns out folks are acquiring their tough drive "fried" with the BlacX stations. Great external drive connection. Swapping a drive is as uncomplicated as it can be. Have had no issues with drives except..... The Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB drive that I received would not physically connect to the SATA connections. The SATA connectors on the drive have been about an eighth of an inch out of spot. I'm not positive if this is consistent with this specific drive. All other WD drives have worked fantastic in this factor. None |

For a dock, it appears decent to have sitting on a desk. Idiot proof driver loading. Does laptop and standard really hard drives. Decent speeds NONE This thing is idiot proof for the most part. Unless they start out placing ice cream in points, then it may well not be. On the other hand, don't know why I waited so extended to acquire this. Formatting and zero-writing spare drives has by no means been so uncomplicated! |

Sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, handy and relatively priced None I utilized this for a lengthy time, when I had also quite a few hard-drives for my motherboard to handle. I upgraded to a newer MB and no longer have need to have it. Although it was in use, it served its purpose properly, and I'd recommend it to anybody. |

Compact design and style.Simple setup/install.Quickly xfer price.Hot swappable. ...none truly... Works as advertised. The only thing that I can not comprehend is why it won't detect/read a Western Digital 160GB HD that has Windows 7 installed on it but to be fair, if I slave the drive to my current HDD that has Windows 7 installed as nicely its not detected either. BTW, I know that the HDD operates considering that it will boot.Xfer rates on my box is around 24MB/sec which is just fine taking into consideration its a USB connection.We will see how lengthy it lasts offered some of the damaging critiques/comments made by other buyers. |

Affordable on shell shocker, works with some drives. Doesn't function with my new Hitachi drives, which is why I bought it. Exchanged with TT currently, but identical problem. Help says there are no incompatibilities. No genuine resolution. Appears to be hit or miss on drive compatibility -- in all probability the last TT product I will obtain (due to the assistance more than the product itself). |

Very Usable Item. Plug and play with windows 7, Pwr button on device for swift disconnect. Have not identified a sata drive it wont recognize. Incredibly quickly connection when working with sata two Ɠgbs). About 18 to 24 Mbps using Sata 1.Shocked at the top quality as well. nicely constructed, basic and straightforward. None. Haven't tried with the new Sata three Ɩgbs) or any SAS or High Speed Raptor Drives. It has Its personal Pwr provide so should be fine on a Pwr hungry Drive like the 10k RPM Raptor. Okay, I know they haven't been around for years but it certain is good to have it to utilize these 200 and 500G drives I have laying around. Certain beats obtaining to backup on CD/DVD's! Makes it really uncomplicated to connect an SATA drive (notebook or desktop) to any Pc by means of the USB port. No fumbling with connectors, just pop the drive in. Holds the drive securely, in reality you should press the release to eliminate the drive. No eSATA - but that is plain in the specs, so no penalty. Just a wish. |

I purchased this to make it less complicated to operate on internal challenging drives from other PCs and it enables me to access these drives at close to their complete speed. I was able to copy more than 400 GB of information in just four minutes, which is significantly quicker than any of my transportable USB drives. None so far |

Has potential; if it worked. Have attempted to use this on three various Computers with four separate SATA drives [Ɠ) three.five" and Ƒ) two.5"]. The computer systems recognize the dock as a drive, but provides the error "please insert disk into drive." The drives are spooling up, but are not being study. Effortless to use. becoming capable to swap among two.5 and 3.5 drives is a large plus. I the final week I have formatted drives, cloned and troubleshot challenging drive problems. Swapping in unique storage drives as I want them is a large plus instead of having them in a personal computer all the time. energy switch on the front or top would be superior. I turn the device on and off several instances a day. Getting the really hard drives on-line only when needed saves wear and tear on the drives so they will last longer. Also this saves energy since the drives are only powered up when I am going to use them. |

Worked fine connecting 1TB 3.5" drive. Unboxed it and a thing was rattling in inside it. I plugged it all in, hit power and it worked ... but the power switch broke inside. Straightforward setup .. plug it in, energy up, install drivers automatically, power down, inserted drive, power up. Fantastic to go. I bought two of theses as a friend of mine was seeking at them also. I utilized to have a kit with wires and connectors and almost everything laying about for this prupose. This tends to make it neat and tidy particularly qwhen removing stuff from a drive for backup prior to redoing a machine for a person else. None |

functions as it must. plug in power & usb, put sata drive in it, power it on. capable to format drives with ease and so on. functions on my windows 7 machine. in my case, i threw in a preformatted dynamic sata drive with files on it already and it showed up as an 'invalid' drive in windows disk management. considering that it showed up fine when previously hooked up directly to the pc by means of sata cable, i would assume there was some incompatability with the format on it and this docking station. i had to rehook the drive through sata, then transfer the files to a different drive, then placed the drive back in the docking station and reformatted it and ONLY THEN did it operate as it need to. sort of a pain in the keister!!!! other than the invalid drive hickup when throwing in preformatted dynamic disks, it works genuinely nicely. |

Purchased this on unique for 22$ absolutely free shipping. It is working perfectly I get alot of pcs for repair and this is the quickest way to make backup and format HDDs. No seriously a con but the usb cable that comes with it is type of brief. |

this dock has great reviews so i bought one. i have other adapters for getting data of of HDs, but as they are multi-format ( two.5-three.five-IDE / sata) they are a pain in the %$#$#$ about my title as i was reading the critiques i noticed conflicting statements from manufacturer1-Niftyapple, Please contact ttsupport@thermaltakeusa.com as there is no spooldown or spindown function on this unit. It seems to do it all, specifically what I anticipated. I had four old HD's and wanted to know if there was something one them I required. Soon after checking all I formatted and can now use the to backup desktop..... Hey it functions, it's easy, it does what it's suppose to do .... USB cord is fairly short I utilized a longer one I currently had but it did come with anything necessary to use it appropriate out of the box. It's handy and rapidly, I'm truely SHOCKED that is it so cheap and all that it does... |

I've been working with BlacX docks for the past several years, 1 on my primary iMac for transferring files in the morning and the other on the mini hooked up to the plasma television. The mini is on upwards of 18 hours a day. No issues in all that time with HDDs ranging from 250GB to 1TB. No stuttering on video playback via XBMC. Can't believe of any cons. I knew going in that transfer prices would be slower than working with internal drives so it seems silly to complain a steak doesn't taste like an orange. |
Low cost, good that you can use 2.five" and 3.five" disks, even if for only a week. Broke soon after three or four utilizes. Couldn't access any drives when plugged in (although computer knew something was there), after awhile, didn't even work well adequate to allow Windows to recognize anything was plugged into the USB port, significantly less the docking station. Client support (FROM THERMALTAKE) was ridiculously inept at assisting us. They mentioned "no challenge, this is beneath a three-year warranty." - "Awesome" we stated. They sent us yet another, and it too, did not function (wouldn't energy on). They sent us a third unit, which unsurprisingly, didn't work either (broken latch/lever mechanism).
