This card is great. I had a 5850 prior to this and it was certainly an upgrade, not by much, but it still was. The card is hot yes, but it is certainly not as loud as most people make it out to be. My 5850 at 40% was as loud as this one at 70%. If you are running extremely intensive programs, then yeah this card can get very loud at 100%. I'm planning on putting mine under water anyway so I don't really mind. |

This card does what i want it to..mostly. But my issues are mostly driver related. Some games, like BFBC2 don't fully utilize the card and are stuck at 50% usage or so. Dirt 2 is also weird for me, getting about 20fps less then it should be.Everything else works great. Can max out Crysis, even ran 16xAA for most of the game, and it was just playable with a minimum frame rate of 20. Ran a little smoother at 4x so i changed to that. This is also with Very High everything.Also Scores about ~14.3k in Vantage GPU Score. My personal total score was about 13.3k without PPU disabled. Cpu score was 10k for that run for me.Also this card runs HOT, very very HOT. And because of that it's loud. Very annoying.I wouldn't buy a gtx 470 or 480 with the reference cooler. Stick with the aftermarket ones. Unless you don't mind it running very hot and loud. I'm talking 85-95C in most games. Even can crack 100C for long sessions. Your research is done Mr. or Ms. PC builder FPS gamer. This card keeps you in the top 10 for performance, ease of use, power ( make sure your power supply is compatible) the 480 is overkill. If you are an over clocking freak, then get the 480, but with the after burner software you can tweak this one as well and still see Direct X11 results. One star off for price, 470 vs. 480 I think the 470 should be about $50 less than the listed price. |
replaced my gtx 9800 w/ this card, it works great, I can run my CSS and WOW in full performance, and FF14 run smooth too, with full performance. from markbench.com it is the 2nd highest rate video card, so I guess it did what it does.
