its great for the price. but theres no cd & it doesnt mention anything about initializing the drive. the screws for the panel dont fit very well. the HiSpeed usb dont work on non powered USB ports

Well what can I say, the price is right, and it works perfectly. I have a laptop that burnt out, and I needed an enclosure to recover my data...suffice it to say that it does the job. However, the case itself is about 5mm too small, and doesn't close up quite right. Still good for the price (I got it for about $8). It comes with a USB cable, and there were no issues seeing it in My Computer.

Like what other people have already said, this is intended to be used with one HDD and not for switching with multiple drives. It works but it feels like it is on the verge of breaking if you try to remove the HDD.

I got this on sale and it is great. It's 1/2 inch smaller than my store bought iomega drive. I put a 320 in it and it is very handy in the laptop bag.

Price is great, work as advertise.If you don't plan on change harddrive frequently, is a great unit... but if you change out the hd a lot, you will likely break the connector very quick as build quality is poor.For $10, I can't complain much...

This is my 4th 2.5" drive enclosure and I think it is a decent product and good value. Only 2 cautionary comments.1: A very tenacious connector means you should be cautious when un-plugging drive from circuit board.2: The extruded alloy housing is meant to have the board slide in one way only or it won't assemble correctly.

Works great with my Samsung 160gb 5400 SATA. All my PC's see it right away and no issues with speed either.

The extruded aluminum body of my enclosure is about 1/8" too short so the end caps can't be screwed down completely because the circuit board is longer than the extruded body. As a result there is little thread engagement between the screws and body so the screws come loose and the caps fall off. There is also a gap between the body and caps which sit at angle because the circuit board pushes against them.Surely this is not supposed to be this way be design. It seems like the extruded body was cut incorrectly to a length that is too short.

Works great for my 5400rpm notebook hard drive. Didn't have to reformat or anything. Worked right away and saw all my partitions.

The drive enclosure is really perfect. Its transfer rate is very reasonable. It does not heat too much.

The attractive characteristic of this external enclosure is its price. Although it sports a fairly strong exterior build, the lids on both sides are held in place by two small screws, and nGear do not provide any extra screws. I had one screw that did not screw properly into its thread, and so the lid popped out a bit once the hard drive was installed. The hard drive is secured by four screws onto a PCB. Connecting the hard drive to the PCB is difficult, because the PCB itself doesn't feel that strong. Overall, a nice product for the price, but it could have been much better. It works very well with a Hitachi Travelstar 5K320 320GB.

Picked this up on special and I am pleased with it. it's compact(something I was looking for) and looks great. Installed my drive in a few minutes without any hassels. Worked like a charm.

I got this on sale for a great price as I wanted to put a 2.5 HD in for a media drive to go along with my WD HDTV I recently bought. It's not flashy but does the job. I would defiantly recommend it if you are on a budget.

This works good, but for some reason I have to reconnect my usb drive for the light to turn green. If I don't it stays at red and is not detected. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the enclosure or something else...

I bought this so I could drop  one of my extar 160 GB Sata drives, and Voila instand portable backup for my Kids laptop.I had not problems powering from a single USB port, and data tranfers with no errors or crashing.at the sale price of $ 12.99 could not ask for more

Bought a 320GB WD Scorpio to put in this case. Works after I partitioned and formatted the 2.5" HD.I put a $1 cheap mesh case around this just in case I drop  it.

Have tried this on a couple of systems so far. Works well on my desktop, but not on my work tablet (IBM X60) regardless of whether my tablet is running off of battery or AC. Have yet to try it with my Eee, but am not too confidant it will work there either. Seem to be having the same issue as Ivan_H and bredfern. While I can appreciate the lack of extras given the price point, a separate power supply for those situations when the USB doesn't quite provide enough would make it a much more usable product.

A great little External Hard dive enclosure. Would have liked it to have a little more substantial shell. It seems a little on the fragile side. Very easy to install hard drive and worked the first time it was connected to the computer. Got it for a very reasonable price.No complaints.

Well, its a great value, and nobody can really complain about what you get considering the price. I wouldnt recommend this at full price, but there are some open box ones in clearence or on sale is a good deal.

It's cheaper to buy an enclosure and a HDD apart then to buy a ready portable HDD.This unit is a cheap, small and light enclosure that I'm using all the time when I need to copy some huge data from my friends.

I picked this drive up on special for $8.99. How can you go wrong? It's not the most high quality case, but it works.

If you are used to working with 3.5in enclosures you will be pleasantly surprised how much less hassle the 2.5in enclosures are. This one is not the easiest of the bunch but it's no problem.My only complaint is that the holes that you put the screws in strip almost immediately with only a small amount of torque and then the whole thing doesn't hold together. I ended up putting something like Locktite on them to give the threads some grip. But if you just don't overtighten the screws in the first place you'll probably be OK.Got my unit on sale for about $8. Great price.

I just got this enclosure today and put my 80gb harddrive. Easy set up, nice case and works fine. Instructions how to install was missing though it was not a big deal. I recommend this enclosure for this price.

This is a nice external drive. But it's not great for what I use for.It's nice for those who want to use it for an external drive, but I diagnose many HD and I find it flimsy taking the hard drive out of it's slot. I'm afraid I might break it when I take one drive out and try to put another in.So great for those who want to keep ONE drive in and use it as an external drive. NOT great if you change it out a lot.
