Nice little case for a spare 2.5" drive. On sale it is very good deal. I have it for the HDD in my laptop as I changed to a SSD. Would be nice if it was USB 3.0 but not expected at his price.

Was easy to setup, feel pretty decent quality, not as cheap as I would think for $6 bucks lol. Was easy to setup with older notebook drive for storage, looks good. Only downside as mentioned earlier was need for dual USB ports for it to run right. Bit of a paid since my notebook uses a Thermaltake cooling pad. Besides that awesome product when u get it on sale, looking to get couple more soon..

This is a very affordable (when on sale) 2.5" drive enclosure. The enclosure is very solidly built and should offer plenty of protection for the drive inside. Great buy over all (when on sale).

Runs hot because there isn't enough ventilation holes outside of the casing also if not close to a cooling system (notebook cooler or else), but hey for the price that I paid for(4.99 and the second one at 6-7 $), great bang for the buck, just wait for the next special ;)Also another negative side... you might get a screw on top or bottom that won't lock correctly.On the good side, if well taken care of this chassis and controller card that is inside will last longAfter all, it's electronics !I bought two of these, one for backups and the other to accept my older 500GB notebook harddrive !:)Recommendation to NCIX.com, if there is a more ventilated version of this product with another material than plastic on top and bottom, it would be a great buy :)

This external 2.5" enclosure works exactly as it is designed to. Very solid design. Hard drive screws into the enclosure, making it very secure. Plug and play operation. If you have a powered USB slot, this will run without the power supply. Works on PC and Mac, as I have both and use it interchangeably. I fail to understand some of the trivial complaints, like the screws being too small. Get over it! This is a 2.5" enclosure. Everything is small. So many users knock of 1 or 2 stars, yet have no legitimate "Cons". This is a super enclosure, so pay no attention to the gripers.

I bought this to use with the hdd I switched from the laptop when I installed a ssd. The screws are kind of hard to use since they are so tiny, so I just used some tape to hold the hdd in place and also to keep the lid of the case shut. Works just fine.Also, it comes with a 3 usb connector cable but I find that it works just fine with a 2 usb connector (from my tomtom gps!)

Overall a really good product. My 2.5" drive from my laptop works perfectly, really like it. I'm sure it's not much different from the others. Case is metal, but feels a bit cheap.Overall it works great.

I bought the enclosure for $9.99 and for the price it is a no brainer. If you need to re-purpose your slow 5.4K laptop drive and use it an USB, it'll do the trick.The package is nicely filled with all the tools and cables you would want.

This enclosure is pretty good, it is lightweight, easy to use and offer great overall performance. Since it is the cheapest (when you can get it on weekly specials) I would recommend it for sure.

As the owner of about 5 different 2.5" drive enclosures, this is easily the best that I own. Basically, you can divide all of these enclosures into two groups - those that have a circuit board back plate that the drive screws into, and those that have a dainty little circuit board that just plugs into the sata connector, flops around, loses electrical connections, and generally just makes the whole enclosure+hard drive a flaky mess with lost connections, aborted data transfers, and fsck-ed filesystems. This ngear enclosure is the former - it screws in securely to the circuit board, the way that all enclosures should. Connections are never lost and transfers are never aborted. Highly recommended.

I Purchased this to dive into laptop hard drives and restore data, the enclosure does the job perfectly, very easy to install/remove drives and r/w performance is good also. would recommend to anyone looking for a good drive enclosure.

Awesome deal at 9.99$, Installed an old 80GB inside, very easy to install. USB2 controller inside is able to transfer at a constant 33mb/s on read. Highly recommended.

Took a bit of time to put it altogether. I also had to look at the box to ensure that I was inserting the assembled unit in correctly. I recommend testing it's fit before inserting the bottom 4 screws.The low-down - it works great and looks good. I thought that I almost broke it when attaching the HDD to the circuit board. As mentioned by many others, this isn't the kind of device you will be using for hotswap. This looks to be a one-and-done (hopefully) device.The price was right (on sale for 1/2 off) and it is extremely compact and looks good.The biggest downside I have is the instruction manual. Engrish is alive and well throughout. It took me a few minutes to figure out that they meant Control Panel when the instructions referred to (multiple times) to the Control Penal. It gives you little to no hints as to how you should plug in an external power adapter, other than listing it's operating voltage at 5v and current of 500 MA. I am presuming that this is what you should look for if you need a power adapter for it. It also indicates you should only ever have your adapter set to DC power and never AC. Would have been nice if they just listed what you needed for power in the first place.Overall, I am glad I ordered two of these. Will check with my client to see if the 2nd works on his laptop without issue.

Bought this enclosure because it is the cheapest one available. I had a hard time fitting the hard drive on the circuit board. Other than that my 2.5 inch hdd works fine. The screws are quite small but fortunately nGear has included a screw driver inside.

Regarding message above "The extruded aluminum body of my enclosure is about 1/8" too short":I had the same problem at first, but pay attention to which way you slide the board into the case. In one position, the trim piece will not fit properly, and cause this problem. Slide the board in the other way, and all is good.Everything works ok. The only issue for me is the annoying Windows pop-ups asking how I want to open the 3 drives (3 partitions).

Had to purchase to access dead laptop harddrive. The unit is easy to assembled. The only draw back is the screw doesn't really fit well into the hole and it require an special screw driver (provided).
