Flawless usageLightweightLittleNo internal moving partsStylishFunctions completelyConsiderably better than the 28U it replaces The only "downside" is not possessing right USB A-B cables; this one comes with modified "A" adapters for usage with USB motherboard connectors - and the cables are also brief anyway! This is the type of item that ought to be common BTO selection for any Pc box.

The cables are extended enough for a mid tower case. Strong build. Seems to be effectively produced and it functions. The blue LED is so vibrant you can't read the slot names. But the excellent overcomes this minor flaw. This is the device I really should have ordered first. It's worth the further dollars. The very first one particular I bought required extremely high-priced extension cables.

Very rapid. Appears to be compatible with a wide wide variety of media suppliers. If you use the black front panel, it is a little difficult to see the slots. No feedback to let you know the card is appropriately seated. I installed it as an internal drive in a Shuttle, employing both of the USB connectors to run both the card slots and the USB extension connector. I've tested most of the card slots on the device and they operate fine. It's substantially more rapidly at transferring information than other USB card readers I have, and it's even pleased reading some old CF cards that a new CF reader I got not too long ago won't touch.I have SDHC cards from at least six companies and this issue is perfectly delighted with all of them. Not all readers will study all cards. The Sandisk reader I got with a Sandisk card isn't delighted reading Lexar cards - this AFT likes 'em all. Some reviews have said the device functions for a when and then craps out. My encounter over only two months doesn't help that. So far, I'm rather satisfied with it.

All-In-One particular is all you want. Quick transfers, much better than my old Major Name reader/floppy drive combo. Internal or External (External requires 2 USB ports) It's sort of finnicky about which cards it'll study. It only reads a single of my 3 CF cards, and even then I have to insert/remove/re-insert it a couple of times prior to it recognizes it. Very same for my SD card. Also, I had to pop out the black wire on the mobo end of the connector for unit to function, as, the connected mobo pin requires "No Connection" and Windows wouldn't recognize it till I did this. I just taped it back to the cord. I knocked off two eggs for the finnickiness and the wiring hassle. Th wiring tip might save a person an RMA or tech help call!NEWEGG IS THE Ideal.

Its black and matches my case, didn't demand much trouble to get it installed and functioning. Has a stupid blue light that stays on all the time even when the personal computer is turned off! I don't seriously realize why makers have such an obsession with blue LEDs. In reality the light is so annoying im thinking of opening the device and breaking the LED. Would have offered 5 stars if not for the annoying LED concern.

The USB plug in the front works. This is the only use I can get out of the device.I have it plugged into the MOBO's USB pins, even unjacked the key wire like was suggested beneath. No blue LED, won't be detected by my BIOS or Vista, doesn't read any sort of card I place in (tried CF, SDHC, Micro SD, and Memory stick DUO) I can plug my D90 into the USB socket and it's detected, swap cables while machine is nonetheless hot and it detects once again... card readers are a no-go. Maybe I have a defective unit? RMAing is such a pain, maybe I'll just reduce my losses this time.. obtain the $ 15 unit that really performs again, you spend enough to count on a high quality solution for crying out loud..

- Has all the memory reader slots I need- Extremely well made- Sealed Unit, not open in the back like some other cheap units- Black, goes with my case theme nicely - Burns two USB headers from the motherboard (not truly a con as most motherboards have four)- The darn Blue LED, it is as well vibrantI 1st took some permanent Sharpie felt tip markers and covered the inside clear lens with a dark red - Result = It nevertheless shows vibrant blueI then took the cover off (again) and used a black permanent Sharpie and covered the led in all black. I did this twice to actually layer on the black colour - Result = It nevertheless shines blue but is considerably much more subdued.Immediately after I finish building this Computer, I consider I will solder on a red LED that is much easier on the eyes.

Rapid. UDMA quickly. It's full size (floppy size) so it fits in Dell's slots easily. You could even use it externally due to the fact its sealed on on the outdoors. Has an further USB in the front. Not certain why you want two separate USB headers going into the factor. Appears like they could have produced the cable with all 10ƙ) connectors on 1 piece of plastic. The blue light in front is Always on and Bright. Certain you can paint more than it, but why have the light often on if there's nothing inserted? Properly packaged. Positive it's pricey, but in this case you get what you spend for - speed. That's what we are all hunting for in a media reader. Let's face it, most of us use 1 variety of media from our cameras. All we want is speed.

This unit is amazing... has all the things you could possibly use for media storage. If you want to use it internally, the USB connectors are actual type A male connectors and calls for two of them to hook up to your mobo. Every connection only has a single rows of internal USB pins (you know how the typical a single is two rows of 5 I assume, effectively this has every single connection every single obtaining a row) Not also bad, just weird. And each and every of the storage inputs displays as removable discs below My Pc. That is kind of dumb, but not a showstopper.

Simple Install. Fantastic use for that 2.5" floppy space in your situation.Dedicated Micro-SD slot worked out nicely for my uses (cell phone). Generates five additional drive letters on your process, even so see Other Thoughts.... If you go to the manufacturer's site, you can download an installer which provides you good icons for every single drive letter indicating which slot is which (SD, microSD, CF, etc). The icons are grayed out till you insert a disk and then they are in color.Very handy to hold the a variety of drive letters straight.Tip: tape the two usb headers together; tends to make it less complicated to connect to the motherboard.

That is one particular shiny blue light!!!Minus 1 egg for being as well high priced, even if it does function nicely. Just come about to like this organizations flash readers. Probably no distinct than any other, but it's one particular of the handful of that's sealed.

Quick! I take pictures utilizing RAW 12-bit files and they took forever to load. I use a Sandisk eight GB UDMA memory card in my Nikon D700 but in no way gained the download to personal computer speed advantage until I had this reader set up. I waited for an internal UDMA reader and I'm glad I did. Inserting the card into the reader takes a little practice, but after you get the feel of it, it's no dilemma. Putting the wires into the motherboard takes some dexterity, but, yet again, it's worth it. If your a photographer and shoot lots of RAW, buy this reader NOW! Don't hesitate!

I believe this is a quality solution. It is so difficult to tell b/c of all the card readers that are pure junk. So far I've only employed SD cards with it but I am content with it. none you will have to by a drive mount adapter to fit it in your 5.25 in bay if you don't have a 3.five in. which is extremely probable.

That is one particular bright blue LED they installed on this thing. Develop top quality just feels a lot more solid on this unit over the cadre of ฤ more affordable units. Figure it will observe me on other builds and other cases as I consistently upgrade my two desktop PCs. More affordable units may well not reside as extended. That is one particular vibrant blue LED they installed on this thing. High priced, but you get what you pay for. No actual cons once you get past how a lot you paid for this item. That is 1 vibrant blue LED they installed on this factor. But, I preserve my PCs in a back bedroom so this big blue LED acts as a sort of evening light. Don;t need to turn on light to see if cat is sleeping in the room.

Effortless to hookup. Web page has Icons for your "my computer" folder that take care of confusion more than what drive letter is what. Operates good with XP Home SP3. Slightly wider then a floppy drive so it fits but doesn't just slip in. LED is vibrant, doesn't bother me, just confirming other individuals comments. You will need to follow directions and hook up each cables if you want it all. Read included documents people today even if you do already know it all.

Has a nice blue light on the front. Reads cards fairly fast.. Inserting cards for the initial time is ridiculous. What you are truly doing is bending the metal with your card to fit it in. Broke a card trying to get it in. Once you bend the metal the cards go in fine. Expensive for a cheaply created reader. This junk is going back asap. Take the faceplate off and use the reader. Naturally there is no good quality manage to make confident the cards will fit in the slot. What wasn't in the instructions was the fact that the metal about the card slot is too tight and you are truly employing your card to widen the slot out to custom fit it . un freaking believable. Stick to a less costly model, this is not worth the funds.

- Reads all my memory cards- No adapter required for Micro SD- Seems extremely rapidly in reading cards- installs rapidly and easily (I have it installed as an internal USB device and applied MB USB headers for card slots and the external USB port on the drive.)- Windows 7 64 detected the drive and installed the drivers with no difficulties (no AFT driver is necessary) - Some card slots are really tight (probably will loosen with use)- Color icon driver does not function on Windows 7 according to AFT site (see other thoughts for my remedy)- No confirmation light on every single slot for appropriate card insertion I don't know why some claim this unit does not operate on Windows 7. The only point that does not function on Windows 7 are the AFT custom color drive icons, but, I identified a remedy for that. The blue light other people complain about is not that vibrant. My external Fantom drives have considerably brighter constantly on blue lights. I was expecting a blinding laser beam following reading some of the critiques for this drive.I did not like not figuring out which card slot corresponded to which drive letter on my Win 7 64 system, so, I downloaded the Atech Flash color icon drivers from their website. I then extracted the icons from the .dll file and applied a basic (and cost-free) tool I discovered on the Net to assign the suitable icon to the corresponding drive. The tool also let me assign a label to each and every drive. Now I have the good AFT color icon assigned to every drive and a label which tells me which card sort belong to each and every drive letter.

Reads my UDMA CF cards, and has a distinct slot for my telephone's micro sd card (so I don't need to use an adapter).. I accidentally stuck my micro sd card in the sd card slot. Fortunately, it didn't get stuck and I could fish it out w/ a paper clip... Functions good, and looks great. Reads all my memory cards, and specifically my high speed UDMA compact flash cards. Transfer speeds are great and quickly. I have mine mounted inside my case. No much more trying to hunt down the cords and card reader when I want to transfer photographs.

- inside or ouside the case use- all black NOTE: in the photographs looks like some of the slots are white plastic. That is only a light reflection. They are black. The only white piece is the central prong in the USB connector.- can be utilised with only a single cable, the one for the reader.- blue light goes whel on a HTPC- light goes off when computer system is off or at sleep- light flashes when card is accessed- diverse icons on Explorer for effortless idintification- not trying to be a USB hub/firewire/etc. - LED light is really vibrant. This can be fixed easely taking the front cover off and applying some white nail color on the LED tip. You adjust the brightness using different tint or tickness. If you don't like it just wipe it off before it's completely dry or use some nail polish. Try again employing an additional tint. I just used solid white, as translucent was not sufficient.- on Vista 64 you'll will need to do some manual settings if you want the custom icons for the drives. See beneath for facts. The reader cable is the 1 that brings the LED on.I use it external to my HTPC. Goes nicelly finish, blue LED, and size, fixed to the case with double sided tape. I use a Nippon Labs 3 ft black USB cable.About Vista 64: When you connect the reader Vista will add it automatically for you and it is prepared to use. The only missing issue are the custom icons for the new drives. Get teh drivers from AFT internet site. To install you should be logged on as an admin, run the setup as usual, install the driver even if it is not signed (Vista will prompt you about that). Right after all this you will need to go in Control Panel\Device Manager come across the reader under USB devices node, open properties, go to the driver tab, and if the driver is not Microsoft driver, use the rollback button to rollback the driver to the previous one (MS 1). That's all.
