expense, effortless to set up functions with windows 7 Slow internet connection speeds. I reside in an region that my only world wide web choice is dial-up, and because my new laptop doesn't have a modem I purchased this a single. The fastest connection I've had using this modem is 11kbs. This modem is super slow even by dial-up requirements. I've currently ordered a unique 1, hopefully it'll operate greater

Quite compatible with Linuxant DCE driver. Currently have two primarily based off of the same chipset installed on a Hylafax server. Set up of the second modem, including setup with Hylafax took less than 5 min. They function like a dream as well. Does not call for CPU time to function due to the fact it is hardware controlled. USB does not have thumb screws. It would be nice to know that these wouldn't be pulled out of the server.

I purchased this modem to use to access my dial-up ISP service. It installed simply and rapidly (though I did note the unsigned driver, as talked about in other evaluations). It connects to my ISP fast, smoothly, and each time. Essentially it works every single bit as good as the PCI board in my desktop Pc. Compared to the โ-60 tag on equivalent units locally, I really feel I received good worth for my income. Only time will inform if the unit holds up, but I have a excellent feeling about it. I have yet to locate any adverse products about this Rosewill unit. Please note that I bought this basically to access my dial-up account. I have no want of a voice modem and do not fax from my Acer, as a result I cannot seriously comment on these elements. But I feel I must add that the material that came with the unit clearly states "half-duplex," which I think has generally indicated that the modem does not assistance two-way voice communication.

Window 7ኜbit on my Dell Inpiron to my Gaming Tower Case recognizes and self configures this external USB modem to start out working immediately. It obtains speedy handshakes and maintains outstanding bit prices. I think it downloads quicker and additional reliably than my old modem does. none If you're like me and need to have to use a 56K modem then I extremely recommend this one for use with Windows 7 machines. I ought to state that all my systems are 64 bit OS.

Functions great out of the box. No problems and connected more quickly then the constructed in modem it replaced for a laptop. Every single connection I got was over 40k Lost an egg mainly because it's apparently overly sensitive to energy fluctuations. This is the second a single I purchased for a consumer. They didn't unplug telephone line through a storm and the 1st one particular stopped operating properly. Took an egg off due to the fact it shouldn't fry that simple. Operates great and I would buy it once more if I need to have another USB modem.

Plug and play, brief cable makes attachment to a USB plug effortless, works fine as a fax modem none I installed it on a Dell with a narrow aspect which wouldn't take a normal sized card. This solution plugged correct in and got my Father in law going quickly.

The modem (RNX-56USB), it's great. The dial-up time to connect runs about 30 seconds, which is a large improvement compared to 55 seconds with the old PCI card modem (netoDragon from Encore). Max connection speed I've seen so far is 44kbps. It does not have a built-in speaker, but I can still hear the dialup tones by way of the output of the speakers via the sound card, which I guess is pretty typical with Win Xp. Newegg doesn't let sufficient space to tell the story the way I explained points at a different web site (A _ _ _ _ _). The modem does just fine, but there is a lot of trouble with the auto-installer when you insert the CD-ROM. I can\'t stress sufficient in words right here to go OLD College with the set up. Cancel the splash screen when it seems, go to your optical drive through your favourite File Manager (Windows Explorer for most, PowerDesk for me), and copy the subdirectory for your operating program which contains the driver files to your HD and then back this up to a stick drive. The directory is "Drivers_Win2k_Xp32" for Xp/W2K users, which is me. There is no driver file directory for Windows 7. It starts at Vista64, Vista32, Xp64, Xp32-Win2000, and Win 98se. Does this mean it is guaranteed not to function with Win 7? A check at the mfgr's site could resolve this query. I can not. Then get that miserable CD-ROM out of your personal computer, pronto. Now use the old-school Add New Hardware process, pointing to the directory on your HD or stick drive where you placed your driver files. This technique functions superbly. I would explain additional but Newegg space limitations avoid same. One particular final note. If you have a PCI modem already installed, and it still operates, you don’t want to eliminate exact same. This USB critter will coexist peacefully with your PCI card modem. At least this has been my knowledge. You just need to have to make a new dialup profile with the World wide web Connection Wizard following finishing the driver install and rebooting. Possessing completed that, be sure your USB Rosewill modem is the selected modem (checked box), as each your USB and PCI modems will be shown in the dialup Properties dialog boxes. You can switch the phone line from the one particular to the other, then clicking on the proper dialup icon on your Desktop. Good possessing a backup, currently installed and configured.Excellent modem, convoluted set up. Newbies need to particularly spend focus to what I've posted here as THEY will be most vulnerable to the pitfalls of the auto-install weirdness.Quick delivery on this. six days from mouseclick to postbox.

No proprietary drivers, plug and go. Not seriously a con, but finding it to run in Ubuntu took some operate software program side, turns out dial-up in linux is an outdated notion. Nonetheless it did come up with a appropriate driver, just not a software program layer for dial-up. Performs flawlessly with Windows 7 too. Threw it in a nettop and it performs good.

Really smaller size, about the size of a DSL noise filter as Rosewill mentioned. Hardware based modem. Economical, much less than twenty bucks shipped. Fax worked great, I just sent a 20-page fax to my perform via VentaFax. Voice and Caller ID worked as advertized (using VentaFax and drivers from Rosewill product page). None so far. I bought this modem mostly for faxing on my netbook which lacks the constructed-in modem. Simply because I study some evaluations saying its CID did not function, I also tried this function to see if it worked or not. Making use of the drivers downloaded from Rosewill (http://www.rosewill.com/products񳁼/productDetail.htm), VentaFax Household as the telephony software program, WinXP and Win7 x64 as the OS, I could confirm that the voice and CID capabilities worked perfectly. It did not show the CID's when getting calls made from MagicJack phones, even though. Nevertheless, my other USB modem, Hiro H50113, did not show CID's from MJ phones either so it's not the RNX-56USB's fault. Quite a few men and women said it's the dilemma with MagicJack so I will try the hack for MJ CID that we can discover on Google later. CID's from landline & cell phones did operate perfectly. Speakerphone (voice) also worked excellent through VentaFax. In quick, this is a great obtain, folks! Can't beat this cost for a hardware modem. I will get one more 1 for my other method quickly. :)

CompactWorks in Linux NO CALLER ID!! Even though it accepts the AT+VCIDɣ command that enables caller ID, the facts is by no means displayed when a call comes in. This is unacceptable in the 21st century, particularly for a modem with voice capability. I've been searching high and low for a voice-capable modem that is Linux compatible, to use in a junk-call blocking application. Serial ones are really hard to come by, and I came across this a single as getting one thing that works in Linux. When it arrived, I plugged it into my Ubuntu Lucid box and it was recognized proper away. I fired up Minicom and connected to it, entered the Caller ID allow command AT+VCIDɣ and it returned OK, meaning the command was accepted (modems w/o CID need to return ERROR). Then I called the line from my cell, and it showed the "RING" message, but no caller ID details appeared. Right after googling, seeking for drivers, firmware updates (none), and reading other testimonials I came to discover this modem's caller ID feature doesn't work. RMA time.

Have bought a couple of these more than the past year, as newer laptops do NOT have modems in them anymore. Yeah I know, lame. But I reside in a rural portion of the country, so do my shoppers. And this USB modem operates properly for these that nonetheless want dial-up. Little. Looks like a DSL line filter! lol But it functions perfectly. Even works with Juno. Yeah, I know crazy suitable? But its what my consumer necessary it for, and it solved the dilemma effectively. Trustworthy connections, and easy to tuck away when you are around some greater speed possibilities.

Wonderful modem, operates excellent with Windows 7 64 bit! Does almost everything I wanted it to do. None at all. For 64 bit customers, go into your BIOS, locate your USB settings, adjust that to 1.1, quickly or what ever the lowest setting is. Then install the drivers, reboot, go back into the BIOS and transform the USB settings back to two., high speed or whaever the original setting was. I did that and it works just fine for me!!

Compared to other 56K USB modems, this Rosewill RNX-56USB is cheaper and performs as well or much better than the competition. Some USB modems have compatibility difficulties - not Rosewill. Some USB modems cost over โ - ouch!So far, I have experienced no challenges. I purchased this 56K modem for my mother. She only requirements an net connection to read her email, so dial-up works great and fits her spending budget. My mother is a quite computer unsavvy particular person - she gets frustrated effortlessly and nonetheless doesn't know what the "Windows Start out button" is since it doesn't say "Start" on it. Proper-clicks and left-clicks on her mouse nevertheless confuse her.To my great suprise, I was capable to give her modem installation guidelines on the phone two days prior to the modem arrived. The next thing I know, she was sending me emails from her computer system.Installation is quickly and straightforward. The modem performs flawlessly. Even a laptop illiterate person need to have no issues. I hugely suggest this Rosewill modem. None. 3 months ago, I purchased my first Rosewill item - a wireless N router. Considering that that time, I have created 5 far more Rosewill purchases. I am very happy with my Rosewill things.Dial-up modems use decades old technology that really should function flawless and price small. However with the movement towards Hi-Speed and Wi-Fi, some producers are charging a premium for dial-up modems. Staples charges ๖ for their modem. US Robotics โ. Even low-cost non-branded Chinese modems expense ษ.I am satisfied to see that Rosewill has the integrity to preserve their prices low and realistic. Thank you Rosewill. You have located a lifetime customer.

Uncomplicated and straightforward to use. Works well for computer systems that do not have serial ports or built in modem. Connects at the identical speed as other modems I have used on this telco line. Only two status LEDs, but the very best two for normal use. Data and Off Hook Excellent answer for folks that still have to use dial up connections. Have not attempted the FAX and I do not have caller ID.
