Cons: a bit hot

Pros: price, speed, quiet

Picked this up instead of a 1TB drive for a budget PC for a client. They are very satisfied with it. The price was very reasonable and the drive has been running without any problems. It does run a bit hot, but it's quiet so it's great.

No issues with this Hard drive, and plenty of Storage space for general use. No complaints about this hard drive and decently priced at 54.99

Pros: lots of room

its a hard drive, does what its supposed to do. 750gb is probably more than enough. but i may consider purchasing one of these again for storing different files. recommended! buy it on sale!

Bought two of these a month ago. Worked fine for us. Over the past decade we have probably used 30-40HD's in my lab, and had 2 failures. Have not seen any trend that a particular manufacturer is better than others, so I just buy what is cheapest in a capacity class.

Why in the world are these being sold as a great deal considering the poor reviews and reliability issues! Take care of your faithful customers, stop selling an item if it's going to be a problem for them!

I cannot believe that Seagate has not pulled this series off the market. They should be recalled if there was such a system in place. First drive ran slower and slower then died in a week. Replacement from Seagate was marked REFURBISHED and it is the slowest drive I have ever owned over 6.4GB. It probably will die soon, it was a huge waste of time and money. I will probably be sending this back to be replaced soon also, etc until the warranty runs out. I am back to the good old WesternDigital (fingers crossed).

Purchased 3 Seagate 7200.11 750 GB drives at SD81 firmware level. It has taken a year, but one by one; they have all died. Don't take my word how poor they are. Google SEAGATE SD81. The obituaries speak for themselves. BTW, SD81 is not the only firmware level that dies. Google SEAGATE BRICKED, more obituaries.

Got two of these and 2 500GB. 1 died within 2 weeks, another died within two months. Have another making noise, don't expect it to last long. Have had more problems with Seagate in the last 2 months than in the previous 10 years total. They quickly and at no cost (not even shipping) replaced the first one. The second had to RMA to Seagate (quickly replaced but at over $11 shipping, and for a repaired drive).Looks like I'll be using WD until Seagate can get a reliable product back.

My first order from here, purchased a 7200.12 750 a few months ago and decided to order another one and had a good price here. These drives are very fast and I have had good luck with seagates in the past years.

I can not speak for this particular product but I would like to say that Seagate has, by far, the best warranty in the marketplace. I have used them for years with nothing but the best customer service in the business. I would say that when a company sends a replacement drive in 2 days at their expense, it is hard to beat that kind of service. THEY STATND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS... bILL bROWDER

great for storage but has a bad data transfer rate so no good for hi-performance applications. one of the slowest drives i have ever seen.

I bought a pair of drives to use in RAID 1 to mirror data. I was working on a PhD dissertation and didn't want to risk a freak failure. I thank my lucky stars I did that. The first failed in about 2 months, and the second died after 4. I also have (had) an external Seagate drive... it lasted 9 months before dying. I wouldn't wish this brand on my worst enemy, and if you have one, please, please have an effective backup scheme in place.

simply put, mine died after 5 months only when it was 119$ last winter. It looked like a good product but 5 months is not acceptable and I didnt even have the time to fill it up so I was not playing too roughly with it.

This is a very fast Hard disk, and very reliable. It is faster than my not too old Western Digital Blue 320gb, (In testings, WD reads up to 80mb/s and Seagate up to 115mb/s). Vista SP2 x86 and Seven RC1 x64 boots very fast too.

Cons: -they brake like crazy-firmware glitch kills the drives FAST

Pros: -Cheap-Decently fast speeds-really quiet, even on load-RAID is great, no matter what setting :)
Comment:
I have bought 2 of these to go in raid 0... happy me.then one broke, so I sent it back to NCIX for an RMA. no problem. I lost all of my data, whatever. Now I have the replacement. I ran RAID 1 this time, good thing I did, the new drive also broke, both of them not too long after they were purchased. I did the firmware update  on both of them when I got the new one, so I have one original that is chugging along with no problems, and the second that is past NCIX warranty, so time to ship stuff to seagate!! YAY! (sarcasm) I live in tor onto, so shipping to America is not fun. This is the second of three drives that broke, so that's a 1/3 success rate. I dunno... =( they are good drives when they work, but when they fail, damn... so my recommendation is that you get at least raid 1. then you will not be as badly hit when one fails.(note: 5 stars was because my last review was one. the reason being that when these drives work, they rock

Pros: Big, quiet, cheap
Comment:
Installed this drive at the begining of February. It worked fine for 60 days and then failed last week. Even data recovery was not possible. NCIX warranty is only for 30 days on these so I'm left to deal with the manufacturer directly. Wish me luck.Ps. My new drive is a Western Digital...
