Performs ok so far, has USB3 possibilities, Good size, shape.decent cost. Unpredictable behavior, restrictive backup. Can't think there are no reviews about the negatives of this drive. Net is complete of them. I am usually pretty fortunate, but have a few problems. Initial, disks begin spinning at random, even when unplugged. Loud hum. It drops offline, at random, and has to be unplugged and re-plugged to be recognized. No power switch. Energy setting don't perform at all. Lights that indicate how full the drive is modify from day to day, even if you haven't added/deleted any files.I uninstalled backup software program and use the drive only for storage. I haven't lost any information, and will possibly keep it simply because i don't want to spend shipping and restocking and I can live with the on/off concerns as long as I don't lose any date. But I would not buy this once again.

A really nice case. The software program that comes with the difficult drive is good to use for uncomplicated backup, which is my primary objective for making use of it. It ought to be easy to figure out, but this is a drive that needs an external energy supply, so portability is out the window. Then again, it's really meant to sit on a desk and periodically back up your precious folders, be it what you specify or the Library defaults in Windows 7. The tough drive also has a sleep mode function, which permits the drive to just be recognizable, but immediately boots when information is written into or taken from it. The initial software program that came with the really hard drive is only accessible on it. I'm the sort of person who likes possessing a CD backup of my software, and I created the mistake of formatting the drive ahead of grabbing that computer software off of the drive. If you do drop that computer software, it'll be a pain to get back due to the fact you have to register the drive and send out a ticket on the Seagate web page before you are notified of a download hyperlink that temporarily opens that includes the data. Consumer Service was ok... nothing unique. I attempted employing the USB 3. functionality, only to locate out that my motherboard had some hardware failures, 1 of which was my two USB 3. slots had been poorly constructed. Nonetheless, it's not all negative thinking of that 48 megabytes per second isn't negative for a USB 2. slot, and if your processor can deal with it, then so can the difficult drive no challenge. General, a great product.

Fast, smooth transfers - it's a solid performer. No freezing, stuttering or lockups.I've under no circumstances had any genuine trouble with Seagate drives, internal or external (and I've literally purchased many hundreds, if not thousands of Seagate goods over the years), so it came as no surprise that this would be a solid item. A power switch would be nice, but thinking of I intend to leave it operating at all occasions, it's not an issue for me.The capacity light is kind of silly and demands some type of driver to even use - I mean genuinely, who requirements a capacity light on a 1TB volume anyway? Getting the techie that I am, my initial step was to make a back up of the software package that came on the drive and then format it. I have my own backup computer software, and I don't care about the silly capacity lights. The drive maintained respectable transfer rates during the initial loading of about 250GB and was operating for yet another 4+ hours performing smaller random transfers promptly afterward. It runs like a champ.Newegg, as generally, maintains its position as my ş alternative for pc parts & peripherals. Constantly a pleasure to shop right here!

Very good searching case. Quiet. It didn't function, period. Win 7 didn't recognize it, didn't like USB 3., Ext Hd Drive software didn't load, no obvious assist from MicroSoft. Nada. So, back in the box, bye-bye.
