Effortless setup, special USB three. cord backward capable to USB two. Has options to use lights in front or not--I opted for lights on. Connections firm Blazing rapid back ups in the background a lot of space with or without having compression. Get a excellent back up application like Acronis Drive Image with Drive Manager for a complete arsenal for the best USB backup drive. Connected to a surge protector want I had yet another battery outlet on my UPS. Backup program on challenging drive but you can download Disc Tools from Seagate related to Acronis Drive Image so Seagate gives a free of charge solution that can't be beat also. Price tag and delivery is wonderful! Difficult drive base could be wider for a bigger foot print assuring it wouldn't fall down effortlessly. USB cord could be longer. Plenty of length even though for power cord. Incorporated software program could have Disc Tools incorporated. Otherwise very nice.

Fantastic drive quickly quiet and cool but seagate apparently does not have the time to verify the components of their merchandise ahead of sending them to clients. I got my new never opened drive opened it and took every thing out and found every little thing but a usb three. cable. Right after driving to staples and buying one particular the drive is now functional. no cable Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Buyer (Anonymous)I'm with Seagate Help and I realize your GoFlex Desk model STAC2000103 did not come with a USB3 cable. Generally this cable is situated within the kit box along with the power provide. There may possibly be a piece of cardboard about the USB3 cable that you have to remove to see the cable. Please check the packaging once again given that this could have brought on you to miss it the initial time. Finest Regards,Seagate Assistance

Substantial size and affordable but absolutely nothing else. This is the second seagate drive I bought (after returning the 1.five terabyte drive) and this drive is not only getting difficulties it randomly disconnects in Linux. Seagates answer: They don't help Linux. It's a harddrive with a USB attachment how can it not help linux? Regardless I'm currently getting clicking problems and the drive "sleeps" and calls for me to turn the drive off for 30 seconds ahead of I can use it once again, essentially generating it needier than my last girlfriend. Honestly I can't ever suggest seagate external drives to anybody once again. You save possibly บ and it ends up costing you considerably substantially additional than that in the future.

Massive CapacityFast Caution, this external drive gets Very, Very Hot.Affordable Plastic Case with NO fan and NO ventilation.Affordable Plastic case turns out to be fantastic insulation which keeps all the heat inside the enclosure. Have only had it for a couple of weeks, but in my 20+ years of encounter in the IT field I have under no circumstances observed a drive run so really extremely hot just before. If you have currently purchased this drive, I Very propose you set up application to regularly monitor its temperature! As for me, I program to return the one I bought for a refund.

Price tag and size. Both Windows and Macintosh software program. Paragon NTFS driver to permit Mac to write to drive. My laptop or computer area has a constant hum so I have to go with guessing that it's very, It's hooked to a iMac via 2. Hub speeds seem fine. Have not completed any benchmarks. No point yet. I am actually a Seagate Partner and have had high regard for their drives even with some of the existing problems with firmware some of the drives have had. I have partitioned the drive using OSX Disk Utility into two 1TB partitions. No difficulties there as long as the drive hasn't idled out and spun down. I'm giving it four stars and hope to transform that to 5, if I can, when i study a lot more about it's idiosyncrasies. Set up the software program or the drive will maintain dropping off the desktop. If it idle's out or goes to sleep it will drop off the desktop. It will commonly reappear, but I as soon as had to kill power to get it back. There is some analysis going to be involved receiving it to be stable. Heat has not been an issue, actually feels only slightly warm. I have other concerns to deal with, a dying MyBook, purpose for this buy was to save the data! Nothing like possessing to figure out the new device to save the old information! So it goes!!! Also check your console and see if soon after installing their software package that you are obtaining constant drive status updates. This continual polling might be a work around to stop the idle issue. I like to be able to plug things with each other and they just work. Yes I know who doesn't! I produced my living for many years based on the truth that they don't. Place I had gotten employed to Seagate getting that way and however it appears that this 1 will confuse some users. The high number of individuals reporting failures is disconcerting but I have learned that for every single 100 that function fine there will be not one of them post a positive post, but you will get every bad expertise posted. So reviews are hardly ever balanced. Wish me luck that it doesn't go poof!

Handy dock for USB 3. or two. attachment Purchased 2 units. Seeing USB disconnects in Linux/Ubuntu with USB 2. attachment. Seeing huge Smart read failures/reallocations () on one particular drive.Other drive showing many read failures and interface timeouts. Two fails out of two implies these cannot be relied upon for backup, my principal goal for obtain.Immediately after carrying out advance replacement (at ร.99 price) for "expedited shipping", 3 small business days later the replacement drive has nevertheless not shipped. Warranty plan appears to not be incredibly reliable. Although USB drive help in Linux is not rock solid, USB disconnects seem to be a symptom of underlying drive issues as I get ATA interface resets even when attached direct to SATA.No viable eSATA path. This actually demands an eSATA dock and the Seagate eSATA Powered adapter cable does not function well with this (higher powered) three.5" drive. I could not get it to spin up the drive with a powered eSATA adapter card.

Cheap, Modular, Big vol. Drive appeared to work fine initially. I've had other seagate drives, and bought largely on my previous experience. I loaded some of my media from various other sources, raw video and images etc. The drive began behaving erratically immediately after a week or so. It will regularly stop operating. There is no mac support as far as I can tell for the drive setting software program, so it will periodically make a decision to sleep with out consultation from the main laptop. This is a difficulty when editing video or images stored on the drive. ultimately, I bought the usb2./firewire800 base and now it works reasonably. It is even so the slowest usb 2./firewire800 drive I have ever used. not as slow as 1 or firewire 400... but definitely does not compare to any of my other drives (iomegas, a lacie & older seagates)Moreover consumer service has all but disappeared at seagate. They have lately released a "mac" version that comes formatted for mac witht he 800/usb2. base. do not purchase. It's not worth it. read the support forum for this drive.http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlex-GoFlex-Desk-GoFlex-Pro/bd-p/UPHD_and_PU Manufacturer Response:Hi Matthias,This reply is from Seagate Support and I would like to address some of the concerns you have raised regarding your GoFlex Desk. I love this drive. I started with a 2TB usb 2.0 external from seagate which is absolutely attrocious (apparently there is a design flaw which causes incredibly slow reads) so I decided to switch to a GoFlex and I love it. I have usb 3.0 which future proofs my drive and it just feels so much more solid than other external drives.
