Connection to printer works in about 15 seconds. We are connecting to a Plotter...it all depends on the print job. Setup with CD plan performs like a breeze...connection through Wireless....see cons. PITA to setup. Took me two hours...usually this need to have been 30 minutes at most. As advertised this unit is supposed to use WPA-PSK safety. I could only get this issue to function with WEP-Open. I had to modify my security for three laptops for this issue to work. We are running Windows XP SP3. Per Tech Help they wanted us to run Vista...if you still have a problem...they would fix it. WHAT??? ID10T! They could only get it to perform with WEP also. I downloaded the most up-to-date Firmware patch that says it will get the unit operating WPA-PSK...but that also did not perform.

Effortless to set up. Little and Conpact and functions properly with WPA encryption. Making use of Lynksys WRT310N Draft N wirless router. Cannot scan documents by means of print servers with all-in-a single printers. At least that is what HP mentioned about my F-380. No massive deal hardly do that any and will connect to Computer if required. Not certain why you other guys had so significantly trouble. I opened the book(which was nice and in color) and then followed directions on setting up the server and wireless. Had main Pc and one of my wirless laptops working with-in ten minutes. I should be far better at this stuff then I believed! It suggests to disable windows firewall if the print server is not found. Do not do this. Go to exceptions in the Windows Firewall and decide on Add System(Win XP) then make certain that PS utility and DyneNet are allowed. NEW EGG ROCKS!!!

Quickly configured; plus has net interface to additional manage. Initially connected by way of cat5 cable to adjust the IP address on the device to match my residence network IP range, but soon after that setup was a breeze; took me about 10 minutes. Speedy too, I have it connected to my Samsung LaserJet and inside seconds of clicking the print button my documents are printing. As other folks have stated quick install guide is lacking the information for a novice, but if you have encounter with wireless devices then you should have no challenges configuring.

Setup was uncomplicated sufficient - I did not use the incorporated software program but rather just set it up through a net browser. It seems to retain a consistent connection to the router which shouldn't be too surprising seeing as how I have this print server stacked proper on leading of my router. It was much more pricey than I believe an item such as this ought to be, aka additional costly than a decent router. Just some notes:I am utilizing this in a house with computer systems operating both Windows and Ubuntu Linux and have had no problems setting up printing with any of my systems. Also I read that an individual was getting actually slow response occasions from this unit - no such problems in my case, everything prints appropriate away after a print button has been hit. I basically hope it lasts a whilst as it would be annoying at finest if I had to replace such an high priced item anytime quickly.

Effortless to set up. Stick to the methods. Wireless print server connected to a usb Canon IP4700 in one more area than the wireless router. As fast to begin and print from photoshop than my laser connected straight to the router. it is not low cost but the outcomes are great. Good small piece of electronic, great instructions.

Software package looked kinda very good... Unusual TCP/IP behavior on its wireless side To these whose requirements had been met by this device--more power to you. My unit displayed behavior I can't say I've ever observed just before in ten years of operating on small business networks. It connected to wireless networks just fine, but it could not obtain an IP address by way of DHCP on a wireless network, and even when its IP was manually specified, the TEW-P1UG would not reliably communicate wirelessly. If I set it up through wired connection, then removed the wire, it seemed to apply those settings and work appropriately on the wireless side--until I power-cycled it, soon after which all bets were off. I don't know, but if it can't reliably do TCP/IP on a wireless network, I can't use it.

Does give wireless printing, small size Puts out a lot of heat. Setup was a royal discomfort, specially with a affordable HP P1005 printer. After rigidly following the directions in the speedy start out, the user's manual, and the posts in this thread, my printer nonetheless didn't perform. Jobs would spool to the printer and then absolutely nothing would take place (i.e., no sign of life from the printer). Lastly, I enabled byte counting in the LPR category below "port settings" and the printer started working fine. I'm not certain if this fixed my original problem or not, but I'm not going to tempt fate to try to find out.

none way to difficult to set up I am fairly technical - bought two of these and could not get either to operate. Following 45minutes on with Trendnet support (configuring ports and so forth. the tech he had been on the phone with me too extended and wanted to contact me back later (I guess it was time for lunch). A number of months ago I set up a different brand (DLink I feel..) and it was a Really straightforward two step approach. 1. Use the disk to set up the printer and two. use the same disk to set up the laptop which was able to auto-detect and install the printer. I love the trendnet routers and believed I'd attempt this, but I would not advise this product. I will be returning each to Newegg and ordering an additional item

Simple to setup. None so far. Receiving this to perform with Vista 64 was a discomfort. I had been running this for months with no problem under XP. You have to do a trick to get it to operate. As an alternative of setting up a TCP/IP port, use a community port, and use a URL to get to the print server. You will need to have the USB port name you utilised to setup the printer in the print server.Go the the configuration screen on your Vista laptop or computer; printers; add a new printer and thenɅ. chose: ''add a regional printerɐ. chose: 'new port'three. chose 'localport'four. sort path to the networkprinter e.g. : \\someXPcomputer\HP65005. print to this printerfunctions fine...

I am very satisfied with this wireless print server. The item's style has been updated and it looks sleeker than the image. I wasn't positive I was going to get the newest version, but leave it to Newegg to come by means of! You do have to have a hard wire (LAN) connection to your router or internet cable and printer in order to set up the unit, but this is pretty regular for these products. The server operates flawlessly with my HP PSC950 printer, even although HP's documetation does not list this printer as compatible with wirless servers. I am now able to print wirelessly from any of my 3 computer systems in my household. Adding further computers to the wireless printer network is a snap. The unit has worked flawlwssly since its set up. Initial configurtation can be a bit tricky. Documentation is great but not great. Right after trying a handful of distinct settings, I was in a position to get it up and running in about an hour, devoid of any technical support. Based upon the testimonials I read for other units, these initial troubles are pretty prevalent. Beware of reviews posted by frustrated users who were unable to set up the unit properly! I do not know if the unit functions with Vista (I am running XP), but I would be very surprised if it did not. The biggest challenge in evaluating these reviews is attempting to sift though the very unfavorable comments of users who couldn't get it right on the initially try, gave up and posted a scathing evaluation.

Setup utility provided functions great. Decent illustrated instructions. In about an hour, got an old HP DeskJet 895 inkjet printer linked wirelessly to all 5 computer systems in the residence for fundamental black printing. Internet based user interface is slow. Instruction manual doesn't clarify all the alternatives in the user interface, had to figure out a couple by trial and error. Useful to know a bit about setting up devices on a wireless network. The documentation and user interface could be clearer for newbies.

Will allow me to have a shared printer devoid of leaving the personal computer on or running a lot more LAN cables. Precisely what a wireless print server is supposed to do. I never ever bothered utilizing their software to set up the clients I just applied TCP/IP printing direct from windows, much less hassle that way. I had to upgrade the firmware for it to operate on my WPA2 secured LAN. As soon as the firmware was upgraded it worked like a charm. I'll acquire one more when I require to share one more printer.

My home network is three challenging wired Computer's and two notebook computers, all employing either Windows XP residence or Pro. I purchased this server to replace a refurbished Linksys WPS54G wireless print server that I bought in January. I was initially attracted to the Trendnet by the pric I looked at testimonials, rates and ratings. I was going for economic climate because it was intended as a house server attached to my Epson R320. The price tag was great -- not excellent. My encounter with this unit was that Installation was lengthy and necessary a couple added hours of "tweaking." When that was performed, all computers had no difficulty with compatibility troubles. Connections had been all solid and as soon as configured appropriately, no drops. Be ready for long delays among the time you send the print job and your printer actually begins printing. A number of minutes of lag time is not unusual. On the other hand, this doesn't appear to impact the printer speed once the job has been received. ş and largest "con" is the lag between sending the job and printing to begin - typical wait is about 2 minutes. As soon as the printer receives the job it's small business as usual.Š The printer monitor doesn't show ink levels. My Linksys didn't either so this may be typical to household high quality print servers even even though they claim to be bi-directional. But it's rather annoying and tends to make staying on prime of ink cartridge replacement hard.š Perhaps it's me, but I had a difficult time setting up the device making use of the "quick start" instructions. I finally reset the unit to factory settings and started over - this time installing it manually using the browser configuration utility. I also upgraded the firmware with no noticeable adjust. I could have simply run all my print jobs via a single laptop working with Windows XP printer sharing but I didn't want have to leave the host laptop running all the time just for print jobs from other PCs. In hindsight, it would have been a lot more quickly, less expensive, an less difficult.

Functions as promised! Took longer to set up than it really should have. The Swift Installation Guide instructions are not entirely accurate and missing a few actions. What ultimately workedɅ. Follow Speedy Install directions for setting up modem.2. Immediately after you set up wireless in the Internet Utility, unplug the LAN line. The light need to switch from LAN to WLAN. The wireless will not function unless you unplug the LAN line!three. Follow User Guide directions (TCP/IP port) for setting up the printer on your computers. NOTE: Port Name must be what you named your printer in the Internet Utility. "Printer Name or IP Address" must be the IP address you assigned to the printer. If you do it precisely like that, it need to work!

Good Jet Direct emulation. I can print to it directly from my linux Pc's instead of setting up a printer share on a Windows computer system like I was forced to with my old Linksys printserver. none so far, but it's only been a daycould not truly use firfox on ubuntu linux to configure it through the net interface for some reason. Not all the menu possibilities showed up.Did not test firefox under Windows. CouldIf you can, plug it into your network and configure it by the Net interface. All possibilities are readily available from the start out.Download the newest firmware and update it.

Possibly the easiest print server set-up I ever encountered, wired or wireless. The image is of an older model, NewEgg now has the newest and newest revision which looks considerably nicer. I plugged in my Samsung CLP-300 and it detected it appropriate away. It supports WPA-PSK security, which most new wireless WAPs/routers support with the mixed WPA2/WPA-PSK setting. Block plug is compact sufficient to fit in a single-row surge protector without having blocking any other outlets. A lot of LED indicators. Small compact design. Quite superior setup utilities and various advanced settings such as error notification by email to an administrator. Not suited for those new to wireless networking. No Cat5 patch cable is included (one is crucial for initial setup). Factory default IP is 192.168..1 (which several other routers and modems with DHCP use for browser-based configuration). Manual is not detailed enough for beginners. Configure a static IP, disable UPnP, no spaces in the sever name or port name, run the printer driver as standard but pick the network name of the server if doable. Add a Printer wizard requires neighborhood setup, current port, and select the network name of the server, then add the driver as normal. Disconnect the power and printer from the server, and turn the printer off, wait 15 seconds and reconnect and turn the printer on.

Quite pleased with this product. Soon after reading critiques on these goods in common, I was a bit nervous about acquiring 1, but this works wonderful. I have two Win7 computers (one 32-bit, one 64-bit) talking to it on my wireless network with out issue. Hooked up to an older printer -- HP PSC 950. Prints happen right away...I haven't noticed any spooling delays. Can be configured for a secure wireless network. I like getting in a position to assign an email address to it, so that I can print to it from anyplace. A modest downside is that when printing emails it will print text only. If you send an image or web page to it through e-mail it just prints the underlying source. Took me about 20 minutes to configure. I wouldn't advise the configuration to a tech novice.

Wireless G with WPA encryption or wired, works with Windows, MAC, Linux and Netware. Flexible device that can configured about any way you need. Initial configuration have to be done via ethernet port. Often demands to be restarted soon after the wireless router is restarted. Could not be for novices. All in all I'm incredibly content with this device. It can be set up as either a wired or wireless print server, just not both at the same time. As soon as you give it a static IP, it can be configured via a browser. As an IT consultant I preserve these on hand as they can serve any printer with a USB port.

It was the price that influenced my choice to replace my dead Linksys print server. After searching at the Trendnets features nothing came close for a comparable price. The Trendnet is a uncomplicated unit that really should sufficiently serve the wants of a smaller property network. Well, yes and no. I discovered the device challenging to set up, taking numerous hours to get running and function all the bugs out. Although there may possibly be "holes" in my knowledge on property networking, following the directions should take care of that in most circumstances. Regrettably it didn't. I like the modest size and the conformity to most normal connection sorts. And when I got it dialed in and took care of the several "bugs" I discovered it to be self sufficient and mainiance cost-free. 1 The unit is extremely slow. It's not uncommon for the print server to take various minutes in between hitting "print" on any of my five PCs and acquiring it's way to the printer -- In my case an Epson R320 that ran at its normal speed when the job arrived. It's possible that I have a bottleneck in my network that's correctable but I really don't think so. The Linksys I had ahead of this was two or three times faster. 2 Setup was a long process for me in spite of following the not so complete directions. As soon as on line, it took hours to work out small issues. I ultimately stopped making use of the Wizards and EZ setup junk and took to the "advanced" sections to configure manually. Things worked greater immediately after that. This thing has the potential to be a fantastic residence network print server. Hopefully others will have greater luck than I'm having with it. Maybe there are some residence networking secrets that I never ever learned and your expertise will be superior than mine. I don't believe I'd get it once more, but I wouldn't tell someone else not to purchase it either. Soon after all, 2 or 3 minutes to wait for a print job may possibly be acceptable to other property users..
