Cons: Poor Text DisplayVery Poor Controls - Hard to navigate and make adjustments

Pros: Can't think of any based on my experience thus far.
Comment:
I bought this monitor based solely on the mostly-positive reviews on this and other websites. The display quality on the monitor I received is so poor, I can only conclude it is defective.Have complained to NCIX regarding quality of text display - awaiting reply.Tried to get support on ASUS website, but after 2 attempts at submitting a support ticket, I do not know if the submission was made. They seemed to bounce after entering the "squiggly characters" without any reason, so I have abandoned this apporoach!!!Enclosed documentation is of no help whatsoever as far as adjustments are concerned, and with the controls being on the back of the monitor you need the feel of a blind person to know which button(s) to push.Downloaded documentation, but found it to be of no help either in knowing what adjustments to make to improve quality of text display. It explains the adjustments are available, but not what they do. It's simply hit-or-miss (mostly miss) and I have neither the time or the patience to try and solve the issue in this manner.

Cons: speaker could be better able to handle bass/low end. too much treble and no tone adjustment built in.

Pros: clarity, crisp picture, available modes, fully tweakable/adjustable and comes with many cables for whatever system you need (VGA, HDMI or DVI)
Comment:
I've had this monitor for a couple of weeks and it replaced two 22" monitors. It is in just about every respect, perfect. 100% right out of the box, no dead pixels and a clear picture all round. Only complaint would be the weak speaker.

Cons: Needs tweaking out of the box; dead pixel(s); odd uniformity.

Pros: Attractive looking; nice size; relatively affordable.
Comment:
I purchased this monitor for my wife to replace an older 23" 1080P Acer with a TN panel and CCFL backlight. She wasn't looking for a higher resolution and I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money, so I picked this up when it went on sale. The settings out of the box leave a lot to be desired, but there are two simple tweaks that make a great deal of difference.First, turn the "VividPixel" setting to zero. It defaults to 25 and steps up in increments of the same. I don't know why this comes turned on, but it made text blurry and images look wrong. Once disabled, the monitor improves greatly.Second, if you are using an NVIDIA card, you need to go into the control panel and set the HDMI range to 0-255 instead of the 16-235 default. (This is because the monitor only has HDMI inputs, and even if you use a DVI to HDMI cable you have to change this.) Calibrating with an i1 Display Pro returned a contrast ratio of only ~350:1 with the default NVIDIA setting. Once I fixed it and re-calibrated I got a result of ~3500:1 (much better and in line with expectations). Now that the monitor has the proper settings (calibrated brightness and contrast, shut off the default sharpness and saturation) and the PC is properly setup (0-255 HDMI range, a color profile) it looks pretty good.In terms of negatives, there are certainly a few. There is at least one stuck "red" pixel which I am hoping either dies or fixes itself. Additionally, there are some faint vertical bands that I'm wondering if have something to do with the backlight or a panel defect.Neither of the issues are dealbreakers, and are almost to be expected with how hit-or-miss LCD's have been lately.I've given the monitor a four-star rating due to the low price I purchased at, but I'm hesitant to say I would purchase it again. So long as expectations are tempered and you have a calibration tool, it's a decent purchase below 200 dollars.
