Cons: The drivers included didn't install properly on a fresh windows 7 install.Asus' drivers website is hell to get through. It gave me drivers for different cards in the series several times which *surprise* didn't work. (This was slightly improved very recently)My front panel audio doesn't work properly with the card, but it does with others.

Pros: Headphone and microphone jacks work.Great price
Comment:
This card was supposed to be an easy replacement for my onboard sound, which was causing some issues with my microphone. Upon putting it in my rig and installing the drivers, nothing worked. I decided to go ahead and reinstall windows 7 since I was long overdue for a format, and the drivers still would not work.I got new drivers from Asus' website after navigating through that hell (not as bad as HP's website mind you) and everything, minus my front panel audio, works perfectly.I'm satisfied with the card since it was only $30, but next time around, I'm going to go with something that is much better, and I'll be doing a lot more research.

Cons: Doesn't make me breakfast in bed.

Pros: Low Price, 5.1, Easy to install, "decent" control software. Works with Win7 x64.
Comment:
Bought this to troubleshoot some sound issues I was having with an older Creative Audigy 2 card and cleared up right away after installing. Downloaded drivers from website rather than using disc. Obviously, this isn't the highest quality sound card on the market so you audiophiles that are even looking at this, don't bother but for anyone that is looking for better than onboard sound at a low price, this is the sound card for you. I am using a pair of Roccat Kaves and am enjoying the 5.1 channel sound delivered directly to my ears. The included software sweet is "decent", giving you lots of options. It can emulate anything from Stereo to 7.1 surround, room effects [reverb], EQ, LFE crossover control and more. Hit the right settings with a good pair of earphones = eargasm.

Cons: - lacks a few software driver features

Pros: - front panel detection- cheap- good sound- headphone amp is handy- low profile card means it doesn't completely block GPU fans
Comment:
A great sound card for the price. I only ever use sound cards in my gaming desktops, but I never bother with the high-end cards because they don't provide any real benefit to the player.Great SnR, front panel detection is absolutely fantastic, and the price can't be denied. In this case, the card does it job well, but leaves a bit to be desired in the software driver front:Using Teamspeak and Mumble often, I need to monitor my own microphone feed to make sure that I'm not talking too loudly over the channel. Previous sound cards, and even motherboard on-board audio controllers, have always had ways to monitor the microphone. The Xonar DG has this as well, but it's not true monitoring, rather it's a processed feed. This processed feed also means that it's slightly delayed, by say 0.2 - 0.5 seconds. This might seem like a niggle, but it's actually annoying because it's introducing an echo in the voice communications in games. Granted this is a cheap sound card, but if on-board audio has been able to have true line-in/microphone monitoring without processing, then a $30 sound card should be able to carry the same feature. In comparison, my other 9 year old Creative sound card, low-end as well, has this feature.

Cons: - I wouldn't call it a con, but it took me 20 minutes or so to get the playback and recording devices set up and recognized properly. Now that I have, it works wonderfully.

Pros: - good, deep bass- great quality sound

Definitely download the Unified drivers though, not stock ASUS (use google to search for ASUS Xonar DG unified drivers).

I was sceptical if buying a external sound card was worth it. I bought it anyway and I am really glad I did it.I played the same mp3 song with this card and my onboard and i can really tell the difference. My future rigs will always have a dedicated sound card.

Cons: Poor software drivers may cause you to endure unsolvable problems.

Pros: Serves its purpose adequately.
Comment:
Bought this card because "Cooler Master Sirus" Headphones were picking up lots of static noise from "Asus Rampage III Gene" motherboard's on-board sound. Resolved that problem adequately, however:Installation problems: After physically installing the card and [ignoring included drivers] using most recent drivers downloaded from Asus, I was presented with an error prompt "Please plugin Xonar DG". I managed to resolve this problem by booting into 'Safe Mode' (on Win 7), and rerunning the driver setup, which completed.Ongoing problem: Same problem someone is reporting here:http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1611304Basically, under certain circumstances, the card will repeat a very short audio segment in a continuous loop. Others complain it happens when abruptly ending a game, for me it happens when I launch "Media Player Classic" as an external player from within XBMC.Researching the problem leads me to believe that Asus uses 3rd party parts on this card, and farms the job of writing drivers out to another company who's done a poor job with the initial drivers and with providing adequate updates to resolve problems. The problems with this card are manageable, however it is frustrating having to deal with such problems, even when buying low-cost hardware like this item.

Cons: none for price

Pros: Headphone amp
Comment:
This is a good sound card for the price. Getting an included headphone amp at this price point is great. While this sound card is not a great option for an audiophile, it will suit most users with low to moderate impedance headphones. I would definitely recommend the Xonar STX or ST for high end cans though. Something along the lines of the Sennheiser HD 600, or Beyerdynamic DT770 need a beefy amp to excel. That being said, for the price, the Xonar DG is a good bang for the buck for the average user.

Cons: Limited function in Linux.

Pros: Inexpensive 5.1 sound card with lots of features in Windows. Price can't be beaten.
Comment:
I bought this card as an upgrade from my motherboard sound and also because it has Dolby Headphone which claims to recreate  5.1 surround sound through headphones. The installation in Windows 7 was easy and the sound is slightly improved over the onboard sound. There are lots of settings and effects possible in the sound card manager software. Unfortunately, I can only get limited function in Linux despite multiple installation attempts. I'm not convinced that the Dolby headphone surround works, but maybe there are some more tweaks required in the settings. At this price, it was worth a try for headphone surround and because it is PCI it may get transplanted into an older computer with poor onboard sound.

Like some of the reviews here, I also purchased this sound card as a cheap replacement because my on-board sound card stopped working. The sound quality has improved noticeably. The software comes with plenty of settings you can adjust, more than that average user would ever use. It was more than I was expecting in a cheap sound card.Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a cheap quality replacement.

Pros: Price, Sound Quality, Optical Out
Comment:
Used for a PC with dead on board audio. This did the job and was equal or better than the on board audio was. I was contemplating this one or a Creative but decided on this one for the price and I am not disappointed. Would recommend this if you are looking for something similar to on board audio.

Cons: -Driver installation was a bit bothersome...

Pros: -Bass deeper and clearer-Less distortion at high volume-Hearing sounds that I couldn't hear with on-board audio-Much better audio
Comment:
I'm using this card with my ASUS P7P55D motherboard. I though that my mobo had a pretty good audio before and since I got this card there's no turning back music sounds much better even on entry level audio system (Logitech x-540). This card definitely makes a difference well worth 25$. I'm now addicted to my music since the purchase. Installation was easy. The drivers installation was a bit more complicated. I had to unplug my TurtleBeach PX21 headset, because it was causing some problems and the card wasn't detected.
