well i bought this thinking it was a sata drive.. so when i recieved it i unknowingly found out it was an ide.. so since its ide and you can buy a sata one for the same price i kinda feel like i ripped myself off, but oh well.. still works just not as fast as a sata one..

Swapped out my Plextor CD-RW for this drive. It took about 5 min to install. Did not even need to load the software, Windows XP recognized it right away. I have been viewing movies and playing games with it no problem. I can't vouch for the CD/DVD burn quality or ease of use at this time since I do not need to do that at this time. I am sure that when I do I will need to load the Nero 8 that came with it.

This is an average unit that performs very well, very reliably for what it is. It is a DVD drive that allows you to read and write on all the formats with and IDE cable. It's not blu-ray but it's only thirty bucks. It will run longer than you will use DVDs.

I have had this drive for a little over 1 month, no problems, works great! Didn't really care for the Nero 7 Essentials, so I downloaded Nero 9 full program, I am much happier.

The drive was plug and play with no problems. Has worked like a charm and came with a basic version of Nero. You may want to by a more complete burn software to fully utilize though. Great value!

This burner works great for the price. The enclosed software wasn't too good and required a pricey upgrade. Easy to install and machine recognized immediately.

I had to replace my original DVD burner which was also manufactured by Lite-ON with similar features. This installed easily, no problems. I made sure the setting on the back was positioned in the same place on the new drive before installing. For those who have a problem with Nero, you can download the Lightscribe software for free at http://lightscribe.com/downloadSection/windows/index.aspx?id=810. They have an update for Windows 7. You can also download free templates for the Lightscribe labels on this site under Design Center. I highly recommend this drive! As usual, the site was fast with shipment and delivery. So far, I haven't run into any problems with products I have purchased from these guys.

If you buy this product, be sure to check the master-slave on the back and put the plastic cover on the correct one. Check your old unit to see where it is on your old unit and put it in the same place on the new unit. Other than that this product is wonderful.

Best deal for this drive I could find anywhere. Have this brand of drive in several computer I have put together and it worked fine for several years. I wish the software included by Nero was less confusing to install because all of the components included in the software is not functioning fully and you don't know until you try to use it.

I had the DVD burner for about a year and its still going strong, quiet and reliable. I love the LIGHTSRIBE feature. Work good but you need to make you lables bold.

Installed this in my Dell Desktop with Vista sp1 and it worked without any problems. I was able to write to the drive immediately using the windows software. I just wish there was some way to use the lightscribe feature without having to install the nero software, as the software interfered with other DVD Software I already had on the computer. Now I am having to try to find a fix. Other than that, great drive for the price.

Easy installation - plug compatible with existing CD drive. All the formats available are somewhat bewildering - The crippleware helps you make CDs and DVDs that will be incompatible with virtually everything else you have. Note that the Nero software cripples itself after 30 days, and then tries to sell you an upgrade that costs twice what the drive does. Not such a great deal then? It took hours to make a DVD with eight video files that amounted to about 50% of capacity of a DVD. The actual writing of the disc took just a few minutes, most of the time was spent "creating". I wondered why some of the operations had the option of turning off the computer when complete, but now it is clear that you'll have gone to bed way before the operation completes. Still... This is the best price on a drive that works just fine. You'll need to get some decent authoring software, though.

I'm very pleased with this. The price was right, it's quiet and I love the Lightscribe feature. I've burnt more than a dozen discs. I'm not all that happy with NERO, but it works.

Lite-On is known for the quality of its high-quality, low-price internal burners, and this one won't disappoint. It's as fast & responsive as other burners in its range. True, it's a tad noisy, but not obnoxiously so. Great burner for a new computer or a cheap upgrade.

This thing is crazy loud and feels a little cheap. I don't expect it to last too long, but for 25 bucks and it has light scribe WOW. It does not need to last more than a fifty pack to pay me back.

This unit was very easy to install and works great. It took me a little while to get used to the software that it came with it. However, the unit works great and the lightscribe is really nice for disc labeling.
