AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad-Core Socket AM2+ Processor
Cons:theres not enough of them ship more.

Pros:fantastic cpu. went from a 6000+ AMD athalon dual core to this. playing GTA IV there was a massive improvment and only with a 8800 GTS. if any1 knows gta, with a view distance of 31 and a detail distance of 35, shadows at 3 and car density at 40 i would get about 28 - 31 fps and cpu usage was at 95% - 99%. then when weather effects would kick in or a big build up of cars/explotions it would start to get quite choppy. all i did was pop in this CPU and i got 46 frames a second with the exact same settings. then i CRANKED it to max reso and 100% settings got a constant 40 frames. no matter what the weather / how many explosion or cars. never choppy ever and the CPU usage only 55% - 60%. all with a 8800 GTS not even the new g92 512 cards. so if ur planning to upgrade a card before a quad CPU for sure upgrade the CPU first.
Comment:
Buy it if u have a am2+ it gets the job done.

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad-Core Socket AM2+ Processor
Cons:+Expensive at the moment when not on sale, and even when it is, as in now ($349), is still rather pricey when the q6600 can be had for $250~.+Likely to be EOLed when the AM3 versions come out.

Pros:+Ease of Overclockability, even on less-than-enthusiast boards.+Runs well with Noctua NH-U12P (Idle:34, Load:50)+drop  in compatibility for most AM2+ boards
Comment:
If you're on an AM2+ system, it's kind of a no-brainer to go with this processor. If you're not, an investment in a lga775 system would probably be a better idea.Motherboard used: ASUS M3A78-EMMemory used: G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D
