I guess Price, Hmm The Motherboard that came with this was a REFURB!! , No Instruction Book, and the box was Re-taped. I do not know what has been happening to Newegg over the Final couple of years, but its been finding worse!@ The Motherboard of Course was Defective, Memory Slot A was Dead. Now a Customer who was going to use this method this weekend is going to be dissapointed. Now I Have to Deal with the RMA procedure, If I want a repacment Rapidly< I am going to have to Purchase this MB again and have it shipped. (Hopefully it will be new this subsequent time)The cpu that came with this setup, also looked utilised, but hard to say.<at least the memory was new>.Stay AWAY FROM DIY Offers, I know I am

Used this in a spending budget construct for a friend and it really surprised me. Plays full screen video and runs Win7 x64 aero desktop flawlessly. Inserted an athlon X2 2.8 ghz w/ 2gb of gskil ram and it functions wonderful. SATA challenging drive and DVD worked plug n play, didn't want to flash bios. Windows installed without a hitch and it runs stable with a tiny 350-watt power supply from Rosewill. ྴ-pin main power + 4-pin aux. worked leaving four of the key pin sockets empty. If a pci-e vid card is ever added a PSU w/ 24-pin primary power will be needed.) Onboard NVidia graphics don't play numerous games, Windows knowledge is held to three. by that. Every thing a single could ask for for the value (็)

Got this as part of a bundle with ASUS 5450 video card (thanks NewEgg). Straightforward to put together inside a tight HEC 6T Series 6T18BB case except one factor (See cons). Affordable (essentially cost-free) - got a affordable triple core processor (another bundle at the Egg). IT DOESN'T POST! The diagram in the book is incorrect (still incorrect on-line) - the Power LED/switch/HDD light section is incorrect in the book - I have tried numerous combos, but the light won't light. The book does not match the silkscreen or the pin layout. I'll come back and rate it higher if I can get it operating - but I've been developing for 20 years, and this has frustrated me significantly!

Comes with "Asus EZ Flash" so you dont have to boot from a floppy or USB to flash the bios, you just download the BIOS update, then get into you BIOS and pick the update file. Very good function. I bought a AMD Phenom II 955 C3, and everytime I boot up it says "The CPU you use is higher than the specification that this motherboard intended assistance", even right after I did a BIOS update, it nevertheless did this. So now I have to send it back and get a much better motherboard. So if you try to do what I did, get a nice CPU and a poor/cheap motherboard, believe me, this is NOT the motherboard you want to get. If you have an old Dualcore, then I guess this motherboard should suffice, other than that, I wouldn't take the possibility.

*Cheap as can be*Pretty great onboard video (not utilizing that of course, I've got an 8400GS in it)*Small*Works terrific with Linux*Runs cool *Had some trouble with my IDE drives, I can't get it to detect an IDE tough drive and CD-ROM drive at the very same time. Not too massive a deal, I had a SATA laptop drive that I threw in and now every thing is operating fine. Could be a wonky IDE controller or just user error.*Had some difficulty setting up the onboard audio in ALSA, but it worked out the box with OSS (this may well just be an concern with 64-bit Linux, and not ALSA itself)*Limited overclocking choices, but I wasn't asking for much from this board. I was able to get my Athlon II X2 245 to 3.12 GHz, but it fails to boot past that. *My chassis fan (salvaged out of an old dell, was possibly a proprietary pin) didn't function with the onboard connector, I ended up fixing a 9V battery to the fan's leads to get it operating. I bought it open box, so it was a steal at thirty dollars. I'll possibly purchase a 9800GT or one thing when I have the money, but for now I'm using an old PCI 8400 GS, also salvaged from an old dell.Current specs are as follows:ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS2x1 GB DDR2 800 PQI26400-2GDBhec HP585D 585W PSUAMD Athlon II X2 245 at 3.12 GHzAnd my uname -a:Linux boot two.6.34-ARCH ş SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 5 22ᚴᚳ CEST 2010 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

Does what's advertised. Very good Asus site for drivers, support. Price is right. Newegg rocks. 2 Ram slots; D-sub only (par for the course on micro/onboard video); so not the worst con as absolutely nothing more expected Purchased it to re-ignite an AMD 4200+, built a Frankenclone of spare parts, to make net offered on Television as a backup. Tough to find MBs that run older chips; functions just fine for what I wanted to do with it.

The price is absolutely good for an Asus motherboard and it has all the capabilities that I needed for the create I was preparing Unfortunately this board was DOA. I tried anything in my arsenal to establish if there was something that I had done wrong or some component that was causing the difficulty and finally came to the realization that the board was just completely dead right from the get go. Thank goodness for Newegg's return policies. I just hope the replacement board doesn't have the very same results as the 1st 1. I got free shipping on the initial 1 but then had to pay more than Ű to return a defective item. I actually think that Newegg should modify their return policy to allow no cost returns on defective goods.

I've used a number of of these boards in the past. I definitely like the high quality of ASUS. I even purchased this board from the "open box" listing. Just be confident you recognize that CPUs this board will take have to 95w or less. I had to discover out the difficult way about the energy troubles for the CPU.

This is a nicely built cost-effective motherboard. Windows 7 recognized virtually all of the onboard devices with no having to use the included driver disk. The front panel connectors are a bit far back on the board. You will also want a technique speaker for setting this up, the board is a bit picky on the ram it likes.

Decent priceConfirmed chipsetGood build ExcellentAdequate expansionSmaller sizeStableLegacy supportLots of USB ports Less expensive capacitorsSome bios alternatives are confusingAs mentioned, panel connectors are at the back of the motherboard Although I got this บ more affordable that the cost listed here, this would not have generally been my first selection of spending budget motherboards in the very same cost range. It might not have even produced the top ten! But, a lengthy delayed parts shipment had me going to a nearby shop for a motherboard to total a spending budget construct.Of course the board works properly, that's all I definitely need it to do and a great factor - it doesn't offer a lot in the way of extras. Becoming an older board with a chipset a few generations old indicates all your hardware gets drivers from the get-go with a win7 installation. Some alternatives in the bios are a little cryptic, particularly some of the memory options. Absolutely nothing I'm employed to seeing and had me writing them down to google them later. Reminds me of the old days when you pretty significantly essential a PhD to recognize a bios.Sound top quality is great from the onboard audio codec, and the PC plays games just like any other with a mid range pci-e graphics card installed.

Excellent cost, flexible. I paired with an Athlon X2 260, four gigs of RAM, and it runs fundamental computing tasks silky smooth. I had to upgrade my old 300W power supply to a 400W with the 24-pin ATX power coupling. Only one IDE connector, no legacy floppy connector... but that's progress, I suppose. No trouble installing Windows XP.

Fired correct up initial try.. took a small longer than usual for the initial POST, as do most motherboards.Straightforward to assemble, decent layout. 3x USB 2. headers. Windows 7 Expert ࿀-bit) detected all of the onboard hardware upon installation and I was superior to go. Gigabit LAN is nice at this price range. Solid-state capacitors around the VRM modules. (would have been nice to see solid-state caps employed exclusively on the board but that's merely a dream at this cost point) None of these are worth docking an egg since I knew most of this stuff when I bought it, but if I had to list "cons" here's what I'd choose:Only two RAM slots, no Firewire/eSATA (not a massive deal given that I rarely use these anyway), only 4 USB 2. ports on the back... oh and I guess this is the greatest con.. No setting in the BIOS to control the CPU fan via voltage (meaning that if you plug a 3-pin fan into the CPU fan header, it runs at 100% at all times) Had to put the stock HSF back on since of this. Overall, it's a good board for the cost range. I got burned on my last couple of ASUS boards and swore off them.. decided to give them an additional attempt with this 1 and so far, so great. Works great with an old AMD X2 4000+ and 2x 1GB Patriot DDR2-800 RAM I had lying about. BIOS appears to have lots of overclocking choices.. can't comment on that though given that I do not OC.

Killer mother board...running AMD AM3 phenom II X6 1055T CPU 4 gigs cosair ram ATI saphire HD 4850 video card Vista 64. Runs any new game out there flawlessly.Hats off to Asus for this one. MB comes with bios version 1402 on it. Do not flash bios to 1802 because it no longer supports X6 CPU's. Asus told me I had to erase my bios to go back to 1402. What a hassle. So if you obtain this MB and are going to run X6 CPU "DON'T" flash the bios to newer version.

This is a basic motherboard so obviously anything that takes a great deal of rendering is a no-go. But, for basic tasks it's great. I was able to salvage a PC where the ram and motherboard were done. So, bought a pair of 2gb Cosair XMS2 DDR2-800 memory sticks along with this board for just over $100 total and boom, computer is a go again. Really cheap fix. Has performed flawlessly in the time that I've had it and everything worked straight away. Most boards in a similar price range I've seen won't have some of the features I found necessary. A couple examples: it has both PS/2 ports (I have an old KVM switch so I needed that) 4 sata ports instead of only 2. Plus, I've never had any problems with ASUS products which completely sold it for me. I definitely recommend it.
