ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:price

Pros:Amazing wireless range, stable and never drops connection, good user interface, able to stream high bitrate video over wireless
Comment:
I have gone through many wireless N routers at one point or another, ranging in price from 50 bucks to 150 bucks and none of them have been able to stream high bitrate 1080p content over the wireless network smoothly. I am talking straight blu-ray rips uncompressed, so typically 20-40 gig for one movie. Some routers stutter every second or two, some were able to play for 10-15 sec before stuttering a bit. Some even failed to stream lower bitrate video reliably over wireless. The Asus RT-N66U is a different story though. I can stream anything over it without issue. It can stream a blu-ray from the basement computer to the living room media streamer upstairs without a single hiccup. It hasn't required a reboot or dropped connection in a month, whereas every other router I have used in the past typically required a reboot once a week or more, probably due to so many devices connected to the wifi and lots of network activity (internet use and lots of file transfers to and from a NAS). I was going to look into powerline networking but after trying this router there's no point. The specs on it are insane, I mean it has 256MB of RAM. Most routers have less than 64MB. I think my first N router only had 16MB. The wireless range is also at least double from any other router I've tried. Every corner of two story home has no weak spots, all full bars. I'm not one for benchmarks really, I just want the router to do specific things, mainly be able to stream high bitrate video wirelessly, not stress under 10 or so devices and computers connected to the internet wirelessly at once, and also transfer files to and from the NAS speedily. The "Dark Knight" as its called fits the bill. The only negative is price. At 180 bucks it isn't cheap but for me it has been worth it. Also it supports third party firmware like TomatoUSB (and maybe DD-WRT as well...if not now then soon), but I am happy with the stock firmware and have no stability issues so I am not bothering right now.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:too expensive

Pros:strong signal
Comment:
pretty stable and very strong singal. The performance is similar to netgear 4500 but ASUS has 3rd party firmware support. I return 4500 to get rt66u instead. Both are about the same price.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:Price

Pros:Very nice routerEasy and intuitive set-up interfaceUSB portsGood signal
Comment:
My D-Link router model 615 had issues. The router would crash from time to time and after every large transfer like backups. This router is great, easy to set-up with the best interface ever. Transfer speed is increased. I use the USB ports to connect an external hard drive so I can backup easily. I have 7 wireless devices in the house, I haven't had ANY problem so far. Nice product.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:Pricy for some, but you get what you pay For , a Professional Enthusiest product with Incredible Stabilty.

Pros:Excellent Stability, Very Fast when tested, Easy to Configure, and handles 4 XBOX's all with open NAT's right out of the box. Very powerfull and stable wireless, have never had to Reboot yet!
Comment:
I have had several Linksys routers including the E4200 which i bought in Dec and sold in March because of massive instability, it simply could not handle by demands on my network, and I tried Everything. Finally I gave up and purchased this ASUS NT-66U Dark Knight, and all of my problems were instantly solved, it is the best Router I have ever owned , runs way cooler and is completstable. The 256MB of RAM in this unit give it enormous capacity, and is 4 times more than the 64MB of RAm in the Linksys E4200. When you campare the price to product performance and stability hands down the ASUS wins! Just Buy the ASUS Dark Knight and your problems are solved! Highly Recommended!

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:long wired connection is poor.

Pros:Powerful, feature loaded wireless router
Comment:
Overall, this router has surpassed all the expectation that I have for it both wired and wireless. However, there are several issues:setting up network printers are abit tricky, not USB. At least my Epson Artisan 810 and Tektronic Phaser is not connecting correctly. Using long (50'-100' wired RJ-45) cable render the PC not connecting to router; not able to see the connection at all. Once I switched the router closer to the PC, it works. Don't know why..

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:So reason I can't connet to the 5ghz.

Pros:Fast, user firendly and fast setup. Also the router has very sleek finish to it.
Comment:
The router has preformed nicely. Quick set up and friendly GUI makes this router a very great router. Also the price seems fit for this router. ASUS has really made a very well built machine. Overall the router has done what it was set to do and it give the user more advance option compared to other router.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:On the higher end price wise.

Pros:Much faster speeds than my old dir-655Best router you can get for your money.
Comment:
This router is probably the best router I have had in quite some time. Even at 2.4Ghz it runs like a champ easily sending a solid signal through the concrete walls of my apartment. It is a tad pricier than some and I had been considering the RT-N56U but I cannot put custom firmware on that one. With my RT-N66U I can use tomato or dd-wrt should I choose to change things down the line. This router does support IPv6 and Asus is actually putting out decent firmware updates fairly frequently. If you need a new wireless router and don't really care about the price, look no further, it doesn't get much better than this.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:The software is still a bit rough around the edges (but thankfully still regularly updated)

Pros:Powerful hardware with almost every feature you could think of
Comment:
This router would be perfect, if it wasn't for various bugs still present in the firmware at the time of writing. However Asus have already released 3 updates in the past month or so, so they seem dedicated to fixing things as fast as possible, so I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a high-end home/office router.

ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band Wireless N900 Ultra Thin Gigabit Router 2.4/5GHZ
Cons:Some advanced functions do not work currently but will in the future with firmware revisions.

Pros:Insane fast wireless speed, best on the market for range and speed according to smallnetbuilder wireless charts.Excellent reliability, no dropped connections.User Interface is easy to use.Wired connections are flawless3rd Party Firmware is available unlike the N56u which does not support it.So good looking that you want to show it off.
Comment:
Bought this router almost a month ago and have been using it with multiple devices. Havent had a dropped wireless connection yet. The range and speed of the wireless is top of the line and very capable to game on(though i use wired for my PC gaming). I am getting 48mbps on wireless in a condo with tons of interference which is excellent as my internet speed it 50Mbps and the WIFI is practically the same speed as my wired! For the WiFi performance this router cant be beat and it will give you more wired throughput then youll ever need! The first firmware that my router shipped with required a firmware update  before the setup would complete. Most issues that anyone find with initial firmware revisions have been addressed and solved in the firmware revisions asus has released.I imagine that the next shipment of these routers will have an update d firmware installed on them.Router is pricey, but IMO worth spending the extra money for a router that powerful and reliable. I highly recommend for anyone looking to get a solid reliable router that will do anything you throw at it.
