This card is amazing! Runs cool, quiet, the software that comes with it (smart doctor) makes it Particularly easy to OC. I can run Crysis, SC2, Negative Firm 2 on ultra settings with max resolution and you don't even hear this child's fan speed up. Tab out and open clever physician and it's nonetheless sitting at a great cool temp. There's apparently some challenge tabbing into Starcraft 2 with ATI cards. Mine can take from ten seconds up to a minute to tab in. I believe that's a major quantity of ATI cards nonetheless, not just the 5850. I didn't place this below Cons due to the fact it's not directly related to the card itself, but has to do with ATI's drivers/Catalyst. In brief, they're terrible. WORD TO THE Sensible: When updating drivers, run driversweeper very first, restart, THEN install the updated ones. Otherwise you could bsod. Also, thanks to reading the comments on newegg ahead of purchasing the card, Remember that you require an 8-pin power cable to power this card. Other than those really, Very minor cons and ATI's drivers, exceptional card.

Super cool throughout operation. Idle temp: 25 CLoad temp: 45 CPlays most things max setting with no issues.OC'ed to speeds more rapidly than a 5870 without a lot temp acquire. OC'ed load temps are around 55 C though playing FFXIV on max settings. It is large. Utilizes eight pin AND 6 pin.Asus Smartdoctor sort of sucks to OC with. Only system that can tweak voltage control on this card. New MSI Afterburner betas are supposed to but I haven't had any luck. Some small 'rolling' lines when playing games. I think this is more driver related. win7 Pro x649550 Quad OC'ed to 3.48 GB RAM

This card is a beast. Runs a great 8c degrees cooler than the HD4870 it replaced, and destroys it performance wise in just about every game I've thrown at it. Dirt 2, BFBC2, MW2, SplinterCell:Conviction, L4D2 all run excellent @ 1080p 4x MSAA. Card is near silent idle @ 35c, overclocked 965 core 1150 mem with default voltage and fan @ 100% my temps range from 59c - 65c. Letting it burn in a little prior to I try altering the voltage, but I'm expecting very good outcomes. This also leads to my 2 cons: I totally hate the ASUS SmartDOC and GamerOSD software program. It's ugly, it's bloated, it's not for me at all, and it's the only way to OC the voltage as far as I know. It also lets you set fan speeds based on temp, which I want to do.Also, I run two ASUS 24H24 1080p monitors. When I have ATI overdrive enabled and my gpu & mem overclocked, I get flickering on my 2nd display. I've narrowed this down to the card idling so low when overclocked, it doesn't have sufficient juice to power 2nd display. As soon as the card comes under load and the clocks ramp up, the flickering goes away.My current operate about: I set up two profiles for overdrive in CCC, 1 with overdrive enabled, my clocks set and my fan at 100%, and one particular with overdrive off, and assigned them to hotkeys. With overdrive off there is no flickering. It looks like it's a widespread issue, hopefully they'll fix it at the driver level. I'm content with the card as extended as it holds up. I've been on a ASUS tangent for the last couple weeks, they've but to fail me.

Very rapid card. Stays cool and quiet beneath typical operation and gaming. Incredible overclocker that provides 5870 speeds with minor voltage adjustments that is as simple as adjusting a slider bar and hitting apply. Amazing image excellent. AMD is acquiring much better with drivers and performance is receiving much better. Verify other thoughts for how i got 3 various 5850s solid to 900mhz.This card comes with a 6 pin and 8 pin power connecter. Getting 2 of these does not mean you have a selection, Each OF THESE Will need TO BE CONNECTED for the card to function effectively!! This is a high overall performance model 5850. My System:Intel Core i7 920 3.85ghz6 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600mhztwo x ASUS 5850 Leading CrossFireX 鿬mhz core // 1.268v)Western Digital 1TB Caviar BlackWindows 7 Ultimate 64bitThe overclocking assistance in the "other thoughts" section are settings I've identified to be stable on 3 of my 5850s and others persons cards I've had tested. Anything above that will depend on the particular card. Now that the newer 6870 is released and even newer 6900 series are going to be soon, there is no cause to purchase this card unless you already have 1 and are going for Crossfire. The 6870 is faster out of the box and more affordable. Only get this if you want a 2nd for crossfire. Newer games may have issues with crossfire assistance and you may possibly have to wait for either updated drivers or new Application Profiles to be released to address these concerns. Generally go for the fastest single card remedy as not all games work with multi-gpu solutions. Lots of games will but you could find a few examples where they could run much better with out crossfire or not even assistance it. ASUS Smartdoctor can often be goofy. At times immediately after a reboot it might alter your clock speeds back to default and/or place the voltage settings back to default. Make confident to be aware of this and double examine your smartdoctor settings immediately after a reboot if your overclocking. With the ASUS Smartdoctor program (included) you are in a position to adjust voltage settings to permit for some extremely nice overclocks. With a smaller voltage bump you can very easily match 5870 speeds with out increasing tempatures hardly at all and depending on the card boost it a lot more. I can say with confidence that all these model cards can hit 900mhz with a minor voltage bump. At this speed you will easily be inside two% of a 5870. If you get lucky you might get a lot more with higher voltages but I've discovered with several of these 5850s that 900mhz is the sweet spot as it takes quite small added voltage to reach this. A fantastic way to get one more 20%+ efficiency for cost-free. Due to the fact i couldn't afford a 5870 at the time i at least could match speeds for 贄 less.3 ASUS 5850's tested with beneath settings.1.143v900mhz coreLeave memory stock till you study. How these cards overclock in the memory location can differ quite a bit and as well high of an overclock here can trigger instability or degraded efficiency.

At This clock it surpasses the 5870. none This card packs a lot of performance for the cost it is now at. Thank you AMD and ASUS!

One of the fastest 5850's out there.Much better cooling than the reference 5850's.SmartDoctor plan tends to make overclocking easy + you can overclock the snot out of this card.Directx11 eyecandy is great. Fan can get loud if it has to run more quickly than 50%.SmartDoctor is a small odd, but you'll get applied to it. It has some genuinely nice attributes too to offset the strange graphical layout. I adore this card so much I bought 2 of them to crossfire. My motherboard pci-e slots run 8x by 8x so I believe that is holding the two cards back some. Other than that, I can\'t suggest this card adequate. It is one of the less expensive priced 5850's out there. For the performance, I don't know why it's priced so effectively. Asus screens the GPU's and memory for the prime 15 to 20% (sorry I forgot the precise number) to use in these cards. Thats why you can usually overclock these cards so much. I personally can run mine at 900mhz on the gpu side and 5100mhz on the memory side ahead of operating into graphics artifacts.Appear around, I don't consider you'll uncover a better value than this card.

- Asus is generally a brand name you can rely on for service and quality- Much more effective cooling than the reference models, which in turns tends to make it an uncomplicated overclocker- Unlocked voltage control, yet again, to simply take it further in overclocking - Heat is dumped inside the situation, this is not a pproblem for massive well ventilated cases, but can be an situation in smaller cramped circumstances. This is really an added strength if you have a effectively ventilated situation as a lot more air will pass by means of the half exposed heat sink, making the card temperatures even superior- The fan is a bit noisy when ramping up as the temperature rises, but it's manageable I purchased 2 of these to crossfire them in my Silverstone TJ10 situation, and they function admirably. I could easily from the get-go clock them as high as stock 5870 cards, with no hiccup or temperature complications whatsoever, and they can go even greater, though I only did some preliminary tests. The way I figured, with 2 of these cards, I get even additional performances than a single 5970 card, for about the exact same price, and I wasn't disappointed as this is specifically what I'm seeing. I also get the added advantage of each cards having their own 16X PCI-E rail, rather of sharing a single 16X, and also far better cooling as both GPU have their personal heat sink.Overall, extremely advised, in crossfire or standalone.

Fast, runs cool, not also bulky, overclocks wonderful, Smartdoctor sucks, glitchy, doesn't hold voltage immediately after restart even with save voltage and clock settings checked. I know many persons dont like Smartdoc and gamerOSD. Well, the answer to that see other thoughts. Drivers are kinda glitchy, but its AMD/ATI, what do you expect? download MSI Afterburner. Can adjust core and memory clocks but not voltage. Nevertheless have to use smartdoc for that. But afterburner has very best OSD ever! IT is the very same as evga's precision powered by riva tuner. Can have gpu temp, usage, fps, clock speeds, time, and much more in contrast to gamerOSD. Running stock voltage at 850mhz core and 1250 memory. Peaks at 67c with zalman vf1000 cooler. Will be ordering another 1 of these with yet another vf1000 this week. Seeing 50-70fps on crysis max settings.Acquire IT!!!!!

Get the most current driver from AMD (Display driver and OpenCL driver) and do oneself a favor: Download the MSI afterburner software package.I initially installed the Asus-distinct s/w and driver and they looked like they were written by a five-year-old in the 90s.Following running the CCC and getting it auto-tune the system (It clocked the card to 855񳁕!), I had some concerns with stability. This is compared to a Diamond 5850 I had, which beneath the very same stress (and only operating at 765񳁕) was hitting 92 degrees. The afterburner s/w has all the exact same attributes as the Asus s/w and looks and behaves as if a skilled wrote it. Blistering efficiency, Great value, Get 1. It's all you'll will need. none I waited four months to write this to give the card an chance to junk out. This thing is ridiculous. So this is one particular of Asus' Top lineup cards which means it comes from the top tested15% of the 5850s that they receive. It came core clocked to 765񳁕. I adjusted this to 850񳂴 and paired it w/ 890gpa-ud3h & 1090T򝇀Ghz and this factor rocks. It stays cool & quiet and gets me 22k on 3dmark06. Runs games like Aion戴+frames quite considerably all the time. In no way gets overheated. Fan never ever gets loud. This is the greatest card I have ever owned. This is what you want. I have spent a month researching Every thing. Comparing even the Diamond 5850. This is much better, slightly. There were no critiques when I got this, so I rolled the dice, and I'm glad I did.It handles Every little thing!!!!!!!!!!!!AVP3, BF Poor Company 2 is Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FRIGGEN Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't do my dishes. 5870's are only slightly greater then this for the cost. You can shave 100 bucks off "top of the line" if you get this card. It's nice and extended, thick, just like my case, Ms. Full Tower likes it. This card comes with overclockable software program AND a button on the card. You can overclock and bump voltage in two seconds. I won't do that even though. It's too rapid already for me to want to mess with it.

Excellent card! Fit in my Antec 900 (barely) and runs beautifuly. Ate Crysis 2 for breakfast, then had a double helping of some complicated SolidWorks models for desert. Had to eliminate a fan mount for my HDD cage (which I wasn't making use of anyway). But, power cables do come out the end, so they do occupy a single HDD slot. Looks remarkable. I love the look of this card, too negative the sweet heatsink shroud points down where I can't see it. :'(

Properly, in my case, it turned out I didn't have two 6-pin cables plugged into it as necessary. I necessary both the two-to-1 converter included in the box, as nicely as a standard 6-pin (or 8-pin) directly from the PSU.

Idles @ 46C & by no means gets over 60C even when playing intensive games such as Crysis or Battlefield:Bad Company 2. I at present have mine operating at 900 core / 1225 memory @ 1.174 v with no complications , I'm pretty confident it will go even higher as this is a Cypress core ( similar as 5870 ) & really should be in a position to reach the identical speeds as overclocked 5870's do , albeit with ten% less shaders. I had significant issues when I first got it ( in june ) due to ATI's drivers, but this has been totally resolved with Catalyst ten.5 & later drivers. It was 339.99 when I got mine , wish I had waited a bit. I have no concept why ASUS decided to use an 8 pin & 6 pin power connector on a 5850 instead of 6 pinǜ pin. Most 5870's only have a 6ǜ , even overclocked versions. It works just fine with two 6 pins on my 600 watt PSU..If you having issues , its not mainly because of the connectors, these are really power efficient cards. The mighty 5970 dual gpu card only makes use of one 8 pin & one 6 pin. Assume about that ! My mobo ( ASUS P5N-E SLI ) only has PCI-E 1. slots , so I may well have a slight bottleneck , but it works fine.
