ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:none
Pros:Nice sound quality, headset boost, price. Comment:
Great little soundcard for the price. Much better than the average onboard sound, and realy made a difference for the sound quality on my 5.1 speakers, and headphones. The Asus software is also a nice plus, with all the features and customization ability for music and sound. I would highly recommend. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:- It was very confusing to switch between speaker and headphone.
Pros:- Easy to install.- For the price, it actually works.- The sound is decent, and the software lets you play a lot with the sound setting. Comment:
- At first, the setting was for 'headphone'. When I plugged a new speaker into the rear audio port, there was no sound. I had to change into '2-channel' 'speaker' in the control panel to have it produce sound. I still haven't figured out how to get the headphone which is plugged into my speaker aux port work, though.- Recommend it for the price and the extra oomph you want for your economical gaming system. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:None so far
Pros:The sound is... incredible, great value Comment:
I plugged this sound card in, opened my speakers, tried a music with some bass... Wow! The difference between Realtek sound on my motherboard and this "cheap" soundcard is day and night (even the Windows 7 sounds sound different xD). It's like going from 30 to 60 fps in a game: 30 is fun to play, but once you tasted how "fluid" it is at 60, you don't want to look back.First time I bought a soundcard and I must say, it's now a must for me. If the result is that incredible from an onboard, I don't imagine what it is for the 200$ STX. For the price, it's just a must. Btw, use the drivers from the DVD, the on from the website didn't worked for me (and of course, disable onboard before installing it)! |

this is my first sound card after 8-10 years. even though i don't have a decent pair of headphones (for now), the sound quality is noticeably better than on-board audio. it is great value. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:-None
Pros:-Price-Value-Quality Comment:
To those that do not have a sound card,BUY ONE NOW. The on-board amp alone makes it worth it, but the sound distortion is also minimalized as opposed to having no sound cards. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:I don't notice much difference on my sound system
Pros:Good sound quality with headphonesCheap price Comment:
This sound card is great value. It does justice over onboard audio, assuming you use headphones. On my speakers I couldn't really notice much difference, but this card is definitely worth the price for when I use my headphones to play games. |

Cons:none so far
Pros:Included headphone amp, noticeable upgrade from on-board sound for a very cheap price, excellent build construction Comment:

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:None at this price point
Pros:Clearly better audio quality than Realtek ALC889 onboard chipGreat price Comment:
If you want quality sound from your PC with a minimal cost, look no further. Very neutral, transparent enough considering the cost and a decent low end. High end could be better but at this price? For the small cost..don't even think about it. If you can't hear the difference, you need better speakers or cans. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:- compatibility issues with certain motherboard/BIOS setups
Pros:- very good sound quality- inexpensive- easy to install and set up Comment:
The Xonar DG PCI sound card is a really nice sound card for people on a budget. The audio quality in games, music, and movies is a definite step up over most onboard sound solutions, which makes the DG a good choice for those who want good sound but don't want to break the bank. At NCIX's current price for the Xonar DG (usually around $30 before rebates) what you get for the money is fairly impressive.Installation of the card was pretty straightforward and although the retail version comes with a driver disc, you'll be better off getting the most recent drivers from the ASUS website. However, the Xonar DG has a problem that might turn people off: a conflict with certain motherboard BIOS setups causes Windows to not recognize the card; you'll get a "Please insert the Audio Device" error message when you try to install the drivers the first time, or it will pop up a couple of days later when the sound stops working for no apparent reason. I originally bought one of these cards from NCIX several months ago and thought there was something wrong with it, because the sound stopped working and re-seating the card and trying to reinstall the drivers didn't work. Upon getting the replacement card, the same thing happened. Doing some checking online revealed that this error is a bug that only affects certain motherboards. I had to download an ISO, burn it to a disc, and then boot from the CD to fix the problem. It did work, though. This might not be a big deal to some people, but for others it could be a turn off.For more information about this problem and how to fix it, read this: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Xonar_EEPROM_FailureThis problem might not affect some people, but it's a very annoying issue for the people it does affect. If the card works for you (either with the fix or without), raise the rating by one star. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:-doesn't really make non-headphones sound any better-software is clunky
Pros:-headphone Amp-inexpensive Comment:
bought it ONLY for the headphone amp, to power some new audiophile headphones (audio technica ath-a700). they sound amazing with the headphone amp, blows away the onboard sound, it's just night and day.as for regular speaker sound, I use the Edifier 2.1 setup (also bought on ncix) with a digital connection and they sound the same as with the onboard, but the volume is louder cross the board, don't need to crank it as high as before.for $25, I'm very satisfied |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:Obviously not as much ram or as great as the more expensive card.
Pros:Price is great for it's use. Driver support. Comment:
I bought this because our motherboard soundchip died. Warranty ran out and worthless to buy a new motherboard to revive a last generation chip.So for it's use the soundcard did a great job and a little more. It's better than the inboard sound but no x-fi competitor. I think it gives more feature for it's price point. E.i. It's relatively inexpensive for its feature. The big plus is the xonar driver support. Asus is one of the best when it comes to regular updates. |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:for the average user...none
Pros:-headphone amp!!-ridiculously cheap price-works for most headphones and some high end ones-has all the features you need-great, easy to use drivers-sound mixer-great sound especially for the price Comment:
I bought this sound card with the Corsair HS1A and couldn't be happier. This sound card is good for headphones because it has the built in headphone amp. And who wants to pay over $100 for the higher end headphone amp sound cards? |

ASUS XONAR_DG Xonar DG Sound Card
Cons:nothing fancysomewhat confusing driver installation on windows 7
Pros:Cheappci (did not want to use my limited pci-e slots!) Comment:
This is better than the onboard sound that came on my motherboard. I bought it to use with my Grado sr80 headphones, and there is not much in the way of quality of sound I can notice, however they will play sound louder and there are way more features. I have always had problems with voice chat features in games with my onboard sound card (people cannot hear me). However this xonar sound card has corrected all of those issues (people can now hear me!)The driver installation on Windows 7 x64 was a bit confusing. On boot, windows could not locate the driver. I went to the ASUS website to grab the latest driver, which would not install; it claimed the device needed to be attached to my system? I extracted the driver from the installer, which Windows 7 would not use. I conceded to use the CD that came with the card, which during the installation it failed saying a newer driver was already installed on my computer. I checked the device manager, and the driver was still not installed. I rebooted, and on boot the driver was magically installed, I am not sure how.I would buy this again if I needed a toslink audio out on my computer or if my onboard sound card was driving me nuts again. |
ASUS Xonar DG + Audio Technica ATH-d40FS or ATH-M30. Having an amp hooked up to either of these headphones can really complete the sound. This sound card has done it for a great price! I'm satisfied.
