ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Comment:
Sounds is alot much better than the card i took out which was a Sound blaster Audigy2.Worked with the driver cd the initial time with windows XP sp3. Did what the quick commence guide stated. Couldn't hook up my cable for the plug-in for my headphones in front of my laptop or computer. the card has a diffent connection. So i can't use my headphones.

24 bit sound. 7.1 channels, works with Windows 7 soon after driver install. Quite low cost card contemplating what power it comes with. I didn't come across out about this card earlier. Tested working with Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 with powered sub and then with Grado SR-80i headphones. Via line-in connected Technics SL-B2 turntable, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and two. Noticed incredible enhance in sound excellent compared old Sound Blaster Audigy two. All my mp3s are cbr320 and I noticed they sound alot cleaner than ahead of.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Comment:
Under kernel two.6.26.three this and all of the xonar cards work perfectly. I had no trouble recompiling the new ALSA code under ubuntu 8.04 in order to get this to work. Intrepid Ibex, 8.10 alphas picked this card up quickly with no upgrade needed. Might need a kernel recompile until ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex is released. This is not for every person and is incredibly technical. Given the lack of Creative support for Linux, ASUS stepped up to the plate.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Comment:
With Vista 64, works perfectly performing 3D soundfields (gaming). Vista fundamentally renders a PCI Creat*** Xf* card useless for 3D positional audio. Great for music and movies, too. Impressive value. New drivers are couple of and far in between...but the WHQL driver sets are solid. Good purchase with the rebate.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Cons: n/a

Pros: !!! Stereo Mix option IS available for Recording !!!* Sounds Great!* Easy to install - I installed the Drivers from the Asus Website , easy to find and worked great!*
Comment:
I for the longest time used Creative Sound Cards, but when I updated from XP to Windows 7 I began to have issues like crazy!1st there were a few sound tweaks here and there, but then when I went to do some audio recording I noticed that the Stereo Mix option was GREYED OUT!I contacted Creative and they told me they are NOT making Driver Updates to any card older than their current cards!!!!! WTF !!!I then went to a mission of research to find a good card and came across this one ... all I can say is that It was very easy to install and works like a Charm !!!Heck, it took longer to UNINSTALL my Creative X-FI Xtreme Fidelity then what it took to pull that card out, put the ASUS in and install it!! :)

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Cons: Loop noises if your running Wins 7 and playing games with GX enabled (loop noises occur when alt tabbing out of game to desktop, but does not occur when you alt tab back into the game). Problem can be solved by disabling GX

Pros: A lot of adjustable settings to suit your listening needs.
Comment:
IMO, its an ok purchase, not that great though. Not much better than onboard hd sound for gaming.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Cons: The manufacturer is not widely known for anything but motherboards mainly.

Pros: It just works!

I needed to update  my on-board Realtek HD audio. I only had the standard front speaker jack, Mic-in and Line-In. I needed a good X.1 speaker set up. Xonar D1 was a good choice and Asus did have the required drivers for Windows 7 64 bit.

Good enough to make you smile
Comment:
I haven't done THAT much with sound cards in the past. I've been used to on-board interfaces and even one upgrade to an older 5.1 card. Then I decided to build a system all my own. I wanted everything to be worthwhile, and I'm not even close to saying this fit the bill. It accedes the demands I was hoping to fulfill, and then some. The software interface is user friendly, and you can tell an obvious difference in the sound depending on which mode you put it in. Very clear to the point of transparency. Needless to say, I'm very satisfied with this product. Definitely don't be afraid to purchase this because of the price comparison. It's a great card, Dolby tech and all.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
Cons:No fps improvement (didn't really expect it to raise anyway)

Pros:SmallGold PlatedLooks Nice
Comment:
Amazing sound card, my bass and music sounds much more clearer now, as well as games. It makes a weird crackling sound at boot, but I was told this is normal. Much better than the DX model, which requires an extra floppy power connector.
