BYTECC Black External USB Floppy Drive Model BT-144
Comment:
Floppy USB Drive worked right out of the box with Windows Home Server personal computer. Fantastic for when you only will need floppy for SATA/RAID drivers on some MS installs. Windows Properties reports it is as "Sony Floppy Drive". Must be good top quality. None discovered in this short period. Utilized for install of WHS on house-built and F6 worked fine. Not installing an internal floppy leaves a space for another tough drive on smaller sized situations and then you can place it away for when it's seriously necessary and use it on any computer system you personal. Formatted and copied disks and it worked just like an internal floppy. Note that this is only drive that users reported as operating with F6 driver installs for several MS install programs.

Plug and play resolution for adding a low-expense floppy drive. Works fine and does what you want. I believed it was a small high priced but it's easier than undertaking an internal drive addition. My guess is that the cost is becoming driven by the truth that floppy drives are generally obsolete. Not a poor item for occasional use. This is employed in our workplace to transfer CNC system facts to some of our machines. The users complain about it getting loud on the other hand the old one particular that wasn't working at all was fairly silent.

Operates for XP f6 raid drivers. occasionally takes several reboots ahead of it reads. Got this to install raid drivers on a laptop throughout a Windows Xp downgrade. Worked but at times it necessary a couple reboots before the drive lit up and began reading.

Floppys have pretty substantially gone away, but not rather. Virtually no modern systems have floppy drives anymore, but once in a wonderful although you suddenly have will need for one particular.Particularly useful for updating BIOS. Um... floppy? Its generally worked when I required it. No cons seriously. Even though I have this, I nonetheless put internal floppy drives into all my builds. Actually don't know why. Vista and Windows 7 hate floppys anyway.

* Reads in Windows 7 64-bit* Able to boot to the drive (at least I was utilizing an ASUS P7P55D Deluxe motherboard)* Hot swappable. Plug in only when you need it. * Feels low-cost.* Seems to take a longer to read than an internal floppy.* It thinks all floppy disks are write protected. I only need it for reading, but that's a bummer for ฦ. They never ever claimed it worked in OSs beyond XP. So, perhaps that's the issue.

Worked right out of the box with no troubles. Win XP identified with out needing the driver disk.Low price answer for those that nonetheless have a need to have. None Having one of these eliminates the need to install an internal version of this Dino-Tech in new builds. But nevertheless permits you to have floppy access in those rare occasions when you need to have it.

If your bios supports USB floppies then you can boot from this drive. Handy to have around when you will need to update firmware which needs booting to DOS.Works with Linux, Ubuntu 8.ten 64bit. I was in a position to copy files of disks I haven't touched in years! None Functions like a champ. I haven't had a laptop or computer with a floppy drive in years so files had been unreachable. Was not in a position to boot the floppy from a virtual machine in vmware six.five on a Linux host. I was able to make it perform by making a floppy drive image by way of: dd if=/dev/sdi of=myfloppy.flp(Replace sdi with the usb floppy drive device)

Comments: I recieved the product and it would not accept a disk, and produced a whining noise. RMA'd back to Newegg. Will update immediately after I get the second drive, which is now going to price me Ŭ added due to shipping fees.

Works properly enough, does what I will need it to do. As opposed to many floppy drives, this one's really not too loud. Be careful with the operating program support. I tried this on Ubuntu to see what would occur and it did nothing. According to the manual, it only supports windows 98, ME and 2000. Even so, it functions with XP just fine. I do not have Vista or 7, so I can't say if it functions on them or not. Also, the USB cable is a little short, about 20 inches. It's not the best. But hey, that's just a modest gripe. I would suggest paying a little a lot more for one thing with wider OS support, just so you know for positive that it'll work. But for a spending budget drive, this isn't negative if you have the right system.

It comes with a mini-cd with driversWindows 7 automatically recognizes the drive right away after its plugged in, with no getting to use the driver CD.It reads, writes, and formats discs just fine. It seems to be a little slow and loud. Then again, most floppy drives tend to be. I bought this drive for my tech laptop. People today tell me that its useless these days, but to me its extremely helpful. You never know when you will come across a server or program that accepts only Floppy discs. They are still out there and typical to locate.

Necessary it to flash a BIOS. Worked wonderful. None to speak of. I really feel it's a bit rediculous to Still have to get floppy's. When are they going to evolve? You nonetheless require floppy's to install RAID drivers. What's up with that?

Shows up on POST as Mitsumi, which was only one of the 3 original USB floppy drives Win XP PRO recognized for F6 SATA drivers install. Plugged it in, when time came hit F6, drivers loaded, XP PRO was installed. This section is starred, which indicates I have to write some thing. So its not an internal USB 3.5 floppy.

I bought this item to carry out initial SATA/RAID driver installs on laptops. Especially, this drive is a must have in order to take the fight out of reverting from Vista back to XP on reluctant laptops. None that I have come across so far. Immediately after far more testing I will replace my key PC A: with 1 of these. Excellent product, thanks newegg for fast shipping and bar-none consumer service.

USB plug in. Works for a whilst. Possibly these are too low cost? Died soon after 8 months of light usage. No blinking, no reading. One of the few disapointments that I have ever gotten from New Egg. This is applied transfer program information to a CNC machine and the failure shut us down for a while.I bought a Nippon replacement (based on good reviews) and will have a spare drive offered from now on.
