CORSAIR CMXAF2 Fan & Heatsinks
Cons:Noisy at high speedNoisy at medium speedNoisy at low speedTakes up lots of space
Pros:Cools down MemoryMoves lots of air Comment:
Bought one of these to go with some Corsair dominator DDR3 memory. This fan unit fits on nicely, and sure does push a lot of air onto the memory to cool it down, however it does this at a cost of two main things: 1) it is very very noisy, standard full speed off motherboard header is 4000+ rpm, even with Asus bios fan regulation lowest it goes down to is 2500rpm. At all speeds it is very noisy, and easily the most noisy thing in my case which already has several fans and harddrives. If i were to describe the noise i would say it is the bearings within the fan that make the loud high pitch whine. So regardless of what corsair may market on their website, this is in no way a silent cooler. 2) the other issue is that this is way bigger then i probably needs to be, and thus you might want to ensure you have plenty of space around your cpu especially if you have an aftermarket cpu cooler. Also it would have been nice if corsair put some led's or somthing on the fan to light it up and make it look nicer, as it is kinda plain. Oh and note that it does not look like the one on the ncix page, it has blue stickers instead of red, checkout the corsair page for a real picture of this item. |
I wouldn't recommend this fan if you don't heavily overclock ! I you don't it's a waste of money and a gain of noise :P!
