D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Cons:-no gigabit ports (although for $30 that's hardly expected)-not really meant for anything other than very light wi-fi use

Pros:-small unit with nice simple design-green functionality-low heat-solid/reliable unit for WAN (wired networking)-decent configuration options and firmware support
Comment:
I had my doubts about this unit, but most of the reviews I read stated this was a solid performer for a wired network. So far, this unit had given me not problems and has performed flawlessly. I almost purchased the DIR-655 because it had solid reviews and reliability, however the fact that the DIR-655 is known to have overheating issues prompted me to try the DIR-601 since wireless functionality wasn't a consideration. I have owned several D-link products, and all performed great..unlike the Linksys products I have tried. That is only my experience, and I know there are plenty of people whose story with the two manufacturers is the other way around.

D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Comment:
Contrary to some critiques here, I locate the router genuinely very good. I required a low cost G router below ฮ. Absolutely no difference in download speeds compared to a direct cable modem to PC connection. The slow link is the horrid mediacom connection. I have this router paired with the dlink 5 port gigabit switch for 80 MB/S file transfers locally (of course the router plays no component in this). Of course download speed tests are a little indicator of actual sustained packet transfer speeds, but it is greater than absolutely nothing. Nice sleek black look and pairs nicely visually with the D-Link DGS-2205 switch. For pure aesthetics, a single pole antenna doesn't compare with a dual pole 1. Just nitpicking actually... Firmware rev 1.01NA dated Jan 2010 is the latest. Effortless internet based manual config. Would acquire again.

D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Cons:Dlink firmware

Pros:smalleasy to use
Comment:
Bought this because my old linksys died. I was looking for a temporary router. The firmware of dlink isn't too good I had a lots of random disconnection. But since I installed DD-wrt everything is perfect fully customizable. I would recommend this router to anyone who can switch and manage DDWrt

I had to upgrade my grandmothers router since she was having issues printing with her wireless printer. The culprit was her old router which was a speed stream b router. -Fast uncomplicated setup-WPA WEP AND WPA2 encryption-Strong Signal none I purchased this when it was a weekend deal, got it for 29.99

D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Cons:Short range and throughput

Pros:Inexpensive, DD-WRT now supported on it
Comment:
It's a basic Router that has no issues acting as a router and connecting to the WAN.The wireless connectivity is on the weak side, so if I have this in the basement, the signal is weak on the 2nd floor, while other wireless routers have had no issues. IT should be fine for apartments. On the upside dd-wrt is now available for this unit, which allows better setup of the QOS services but reduces the wireless connection speed for me to ~54mb. This is not a problem if just using the internet which is a much slower speed. But could be an issue when connecting to other devices through the dir-601.

D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Cons: - D-Link technical support is pathetic- Wireless strength extremely weak- Installation software kept crashing

Pros: - Compact- Relatively easy to open ports for gaming- Ethernet works fine
Comment:
I bought this router because I needed something for a small apartment. I paid $14 for overnight shipping and got the package 3 business days later. Ethernet capability is fine but the wireless range is absolutely terrible. I have the router on one side of the apartment and my bedroom is 20feet line-of-sight down the hallway and both my Wii and laptop can only get 1 bar of signal strength. The wireless strength is on the maximum setting. My ancient Linksys router is 5x better than that!In addition, the installation software would not install on my machine. The program kept crashing after many differentiated attempts to install. I have never had this problem before. This is one of those products where "you get what you pay for". It's a cheap router and thus you get cheap performance. If you plan on using this router for only ethernet connections, then by all means buy it, but if you require wireless in any other room of a house or apartment than get something better.

DIR-601 has the features you need
Comment:
I purchased the DIR-601 to replace an older DLINK wireless router and am very happy with the upgrade. This unit offers multiple wireless security configurations and has far better range than my old router. The only issue I had in setting it up was neglecting to click SAVE for the options I chose, but I can't blame user error on the device....

D-LINK DIR-601 802.11 Wireless N 150 10/100 Router
Cons:None

Pros:PriceSizeBrand
Comment:
I have bought this to use it with an Xbox 360 with wireless adapter , a Wii (Wi-Fi) and a second pc equipped with an old Microsoft 802.11/b usb wireless adapter. everything works fine. This router can get up to 150 mbps and works perfect with my 30 mbps extreme high speed internet so it is more than enough and more would be useless. I decided to get this model over the 300 mbps Dlink 655 due to its cheaper price and that it is still a Dlink which is a good brand for routers. This router is very small and does not take space and comes with a vertical stand. A usb cable is also included (mine did).
