Cons: -none

Pros: -good quality-triple antenna -decent price

Very fast compared to old Linksys USB. I hate Linksys because of the whole access code. Does what its suppose to. Great quality for the price.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons: - PCI not PCIe 1x- not as fast as gigabit wired connection

Pros: - 802.11n- good signal strength (WRT310N router with DD-WRT)- 3 antennas look cool!- comes with half-height bracket
Comment:
My girlfriend bought me this so I wouldn't have to run CAT6 cable through the walls of our apartment. So far it is working very nicely. Only operated at 130Mb/s until I switched the channel width setting on my router to Auto/40Mhz.Overall a nice internal WLAN adapter.Note: I had zero issues with drivers and didn't have to install anything (Win 7 Pro x64). Just popped the card in, booted the system and presto, everything works great. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-17-10 06:02 AM

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons: : Poor Vista support. The drivers were extremely unstable and caused both my Vista machines to bluescreen. After testing with various Atheros driver versions, only the 12/2006 windows XP driver would allow the device to work for any sustained period of time, but would still eventually lose connection. I experimented for hours to try to find a solution and scoured just about every forum I could online to find out if anyone else had been able to get the device working without any issues. Sadly, I was unable to find any solutions that worked for me.

Pros: Newest technology, good range, WPA2.
Comment:
I have tesed various wireless adapters, mainly N and G+ mimo devices and a wide variety of them do not work under Vista. My advice would be to save yourself some headaches and look into a wireless bridge. It can also save you some money if it so happens that you need to connect multiple devices such as an XBox etc. as well.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons: n/a

Pros: Signal strength
Comment:
Does what it's supposed to. Using with a D-link DIR-655, and I get 75-100% reception in a room two floors up with the router in the basement. Keeps me happy, though I am not using it for gaming purposes.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons: LED light looks cheap. A tad pricey.

Pros: This thing is fast.
Comment:
Some folks below mention that this thing will cause your computer to crash. So far I haven't experienced any problems. Perhaps D-Link got the issues sorted out over the past couple of months. This network adapter is extremely fast. I am quite impressed. Compared to my USB 802.11n USB 2.0 dongle from Buffalo, which is quite unstable and can only eke out 120 kilobytes/sec tops, this thing can sustain download speeds of 900 kilobytes/sec on my modest cable Internet. I am quite happy, so far. Bought on sale for $39.99.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons: Price - cost me 80$+tax

Pros: Backtrack 3-4 compatible right out of the box,Fast and easy installations windows XP/Ubuntu,Ability to plug in your own antennasABGN compatibility
Comment:
For what I use it for, it perfectly does what I expect of it. Atheros chipset card, plug and play aircrack-ng compatible. Great for your home network, fast. I would recommend a usb adapter over this for versatility and ability to use anywhere, extendability through usb cable without losing signal strength makes moving your custom-made antennas around easier.

Great product
Comment:
Works GREAT in one computer but when I installed it in another computer it continues to have trouble retaining an ip addy. I don't understand why the problem occurs in the second computer as both are running the same OS XP Pro

Don't Buy
Comment:
My old computer had a pre N wireless network card that reached my router at 90% or better. When I built my new computer I wanted a wireless N card so I bought the D-Link. The best I could get was 70% connection if I could see the router at all. After trying everything I could thank of to make it work I replaced it with the wireless card from my old computer and am back to over 90% connection. Unless you are very close to your router do not wast you money on this card.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Comment:
I have the DIR-655 Router and two computers using the DWA-552 Adapter. I cannot keep the two computers connected to the wireless network, nor can I have more than one computer connected to the internet at a time. Tech support is of little help and after four phone calls I am apparently on my own. Do not waste your money with D-Link

Is this the best you can get?
Comment:
This card is great it does not show full bars but it does get the speed needed; even at two bars i can download at full speed. The wireless manager makes my computer freeze so i must use windows wireless. Still a great card supporting wirelessN

Price is nice
Comment:
The profile is nice. It fits almost anywhere. Problems are in drivers and features. Software isn't very helpful, and almost every factor degrades performance, but if your using for everyday networking, no problems. Wqhl drivers only.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:A bit expensive, minor range issues.

Pros:Fast, straightforward.
Comment:
Got this to replace an old Wireless-B adapter that was keeping the whole house away from WPA. It works just fine and it's fast, but I found its range to be slightly lower than that of the older B card. In any case, a medium signal at 300 Mbps is still better than a good one at 11 Mbps. ;)

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:freezes. constantly.

Pros:none. i think.
Comment:
do a search for "dwa-552 freezes" and after the first few dozen unresolved results you'll get the idea. as far as i can tell, it's occurred at random under all operating systems, 32-bit or 64-bit, etc. no solutions available from d-link, and no independent solutions for 64-bit whatsoever. last week's driver release does not solve it. beware.

Check Dimensions First
Comment:
I bought this to use with a mini desktop computer. It will not fit in the enclosure. You need 3.5 inches of clearance from the top of the connector to the case. Check before you buy.

Was an average buy.
Comment:
This card works well, it also works smooth. However it is not as great as I had hoped. I upgraded from a Wireless G Linksys which got 3 bars in my basement and assumed that this with its triple antennae would be at least as good with my router. I dropped 2 bars. So I only had one bar. I had to attach a bigger antenna in exchange for one of theirs to get 2 bars. I plan on replacing the other 2 antennae that came with this product for stronger ones. Even with 2 bars it works smooth enough. Allot fewer spikes in performance and an overall more stable card. It gets 4-5 bars anywhere else in my house. I figure that the investment in more powerful antennae is worth it anyways because I can use it on any future cards.

Well worth the money:
Comment:
When I saw the price of this product I was not sure if I should buy it or not but the other reviews were good. (like the old saying, you only get what you pay for) while I beleive this and this product was great. VERY EASY TO INSTALL and the software was also easy to install. The main thing is the distance I can get with this card. Highly recommend it and you will get your money's worth from it. OH, D-Link support also is the greatest. I did not have to use it for this product but I purchased 4 D-link Internet camera's and did need a little hlep.

Works great out of the box on Windows and Linux
Comment:
Perfect right out of the box on Vista Business 64 and under Ubuntu 9.04. The Atheros chipset is Linux friendly, so if you are using any oddball Linux distros, this is a great card. Had some initial problems getting connections using 802.11n, but it was likely on the router side.

D-Link DWA-552 32-bit PCI Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:None insofar as i can tell.

Pros:Runs without any modification on x64 linux.
Comment:
I cannot stress enough how nice it is to have draft-n capability out of the box on a new linux build. No third party, or even first party drivers - it just worked, even form the Livecd. Would recommend to any linux user.
