inexpensive This card does not preserve a connection for very lengthy (drops each and every 2-three minutes) Tried it in many working machines with the very same results. When it is operating, the transfer rate is someplace around 100k/sec more than a gigabit network. I have tried drivers from Realtek, Encore, and the mini CD that it came with. I am fairly certain i got a dud, not the 1st Encore dud, most likely the final.

Low cost, rapidly Jumbo packets do not perform. Utilizing Jumbo Packets with Vista can drastically improve network transfer speeds. My new Dell XPS 420 has an internal Gig NIC that doesn't support Jumbo packets. I bought this only for its Jumbo Packet support. With Jumbo packets on the whole network connection would drop. As soon as I turned them off it worked adequately. I downloaded the latested driver but it didn't assist. As I only wanted it for Jumbo Packet support I RMAed it. Jumbo Packets aside it worked perfectly and you can't beat the price.

This NIC will work on newer hardware ONLY... This NIC doesn't perform on older hardware... The NIC works with Windows 7 fantastic but there are hardware compatibility difficulties with this NIC and older motherboards... Especially PCI Drivers...

I picked up 2 of these and threw them in a couple of generic built old P4s. Driver on xp sp3 installed automaticlly, no will need for the CD. Connected to a D-link GB router I am finding about 400mbs transfer speeds. With the 100mb on board card I only got about 50mbs. Not seriously a con but, the 2 cards were the very same make model and rev# but appear totally various. The mounting plates as well as the chip placement, leds, and board are not the similar at all. If you inspected the 2 cards you would assume they were two distinct models. For ten bucks every single on old P4s I can transfer a 1 gig AVI in about 20-25 seconds. Its like magic.P.S. I was too lazy to replace the ethernet cables. I produced the cables from bulk wire about 4 years ago and have no way to know if they meet the spec for cat6 Gigabit. Perhaps if I had genuine cat6 cable I would get greater transfer speeds. But at 400 I am pretty happy.

I didn't lose considerably considering that it was only like 7 bucks. Only got about 7 bucks worth of performance. Installed in in my Windows 7 machine, and the transfer rate going to a different gigabit machine was only like 100 KB/s.... I mean rediculously slow. Went back to using the onboard 100MB/ lan, and I was back to my old 12-15 MB/s transfer rate. I bought the Intel PWLA8391GT (for around ำ), and just installed it. Functions good. Tried to transfer a file and it went extremely fast, but I keep in mind seeing 90 some thing Mbps, and then 60 one thing... it was rapidly. Gigabit network is wonderful for moving big files in between computers, which I do usually.

Worked out of box. Works for taking the Network Stack Operations from the OS and the CPU for a two% acquire in efficiency. Lol! Bought two, each gave an Error of 1)"Watchdog Timeout" no mater what PCI slot and ACPI turned off. Dilemma two) Seems that the RLT8169 chip wont auto config the two cards to separate irq's. Each of the cards on the same irq have been producing an interrupt that kills the connection. Manually setting the irq shows no correction, an interrupt still occurs causing a connection loss. three) "# /usr/sbin/watchdog -t " to disable "Wacthdog Timeout", but timeout messages nonetheless seem disabling the connection. Purchased two of these for creating a pFsense Firewall. The RTL8169 chipset is supported by pFsense under driver 'rlƔ)'.They no longer are installed in the Firewall/router, but are now being employed in the NetworkHosts under XP where no "Watchdog Timeouts" have occurred yet!The RTL8169's in the Firewall were replaced by two 'used' Intel Pro100s, which have performed as necessary, with no interrupt. It's hard to tell if the ฤ spent for these was worth it!

Functions, on Linux too! None so far I am using this card in an IPCop Linux-based firewall. The chipset is a Realtek, which took a bit of function to get it to be recognized properly. Not a large deal.

Works with FreeNAS 7.2. I applied an old motherboard with an old on-board ethernet port to create a new NAS and it was too slow for my liking. So I ordered this card and put in to an old PCI slot and it worked excellent! I'm finding 3x the transfer speeds now when I move files to my NAS. None. Was affordable and I didn't have high expectations.

Cheap if on sale. Gigabit. FreeBSD drives. Immediately after a week of light usage I started encountering 60-70% packet loss when pinging. Establishing an ssh connection is now subsequent to impossible. I took a chance on this simply because it was on sale with free shipping for ผ. Lesson learned, and I'll stick with a brand I've truly heard of in the future.

Cost? Almost everything else. Didn't work. I'm really sorry I wasted my ten dollars..it's in all probability going to expense me at least that to mail the thing back to newegg...causes systems to not even post if its in a compliant pci slot...and I'm talking a high end white box.

GigabitLegacy PCI compatible Doesn't pay for my flying (I'm a plane nut) Even although my gigabit network maxes out at 19MB/sec (that's megabytes), it's nonetheless quicker than my old 100mbit network I had ahead of. Great, inexpensive, effortless upgrade, and works with FreeNAS (FreeBSD)!I run a Linux network at home, and this is my NAS box, running 24ǝ.

Bought it for an old Xubuntu personal computer I put together out of scraps. Worked right out of the box. Works perfectly. Little tough to squeeze between the AGP and PCI cards I had in there because it's so little. I may well get a couple of much more just to have about. Maybe I'll make a firewall out of that old machine with two of these.

good for 100MbpsNewegg rocks! :) haha When installing this card in a windows 7 machine, it does not function in 1.0Gb Full duplex mode, or Auto Negotiate. I can drop it back in the card config to 100Mb full duplex and it work flawlessly... switch to 1.0Gbps and the card stops working, drops packets... and slows the network down! It might basically be a defective card... or my limited knowledge of networking... nevertheless, as the saying goes... you get what you pay for! :) Possibly there is a reason it's only ů.99!

Cost After quite a few tries using Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Cent OS five (Linux) I was not able to get them to function. On Windows the card would continuously disconnect from the net work about just about every 60 seconds says there was not connection. I installed updated driver and even utilized the ones in the CD but no luck. but for the price give it a try if they don't function you can often return them.
