GIGABYTE GA-H55M-USB3 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons:
No Crossfire. When using a PCI Express Video Card you loose 1 of the 2 PCI slot. The second PCI Express card is x1 only (not x4 as advertised by NCIX)
Pros: USB 3.0, micro-ATX. Plenty of SATA ports and even a very useful PATA for DVD player or retreive data from my old HD. |

GIGABYTE GA-H55M-USB3 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons:Certin ports are awkwardly positioned
Pros:Well built, no problems so far Comment:
I have been using this board for my new i7 860 build. Performance has been great, found no problems so far. USB ports and case control ports are positioned near the bottom corner, which makes it difficult to connect everything neatly. They really need to place the x16 slot at the very bottom, instead of placing it in the middle. Most video cards nowadays take up 2 slot spaces. Because the slot is in the middle, there was very little room left for me to position the wireless LAN card.USB 3.0 is a nice touch. |
Great board. My only complain is about NCIX. I was a bit shocked to discover, only after I received the board, that the second PCI Express card is only x1 instead of the advertised x4 (1PCI-E4).Gigabyte H55M-USB3 mATX LGA1156 H55 DDR3 1PCI-E16 1PCI-E4 2PCI HDMI Sound GBLAN USB3.0 Motherboard.Even the NCIX specifications are wrong:Expansion Slots 1. *1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) (Note 5) (The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 2.0 standard.) 2. *1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX1) 3. 2 x PCI slots So if you need a PCI Express x4 slots, go with the H57 board: Gigabyte H57M-USB3
