Happy with the purchase
Comment:
I read the reviews and hoped that it would work as well as other people said it would. After I got it, I was busy and didn't get it installed for a while. When I did get ready to install it, I followed the instructions and the install went without any problems. It is doing what I expected it to do in increasing the range of my wireless network. So far, I am very pleased with it.

Works grea but Expensive!
Comment:
It took about 15 minutes of rebooting routers and modems to finally get it to see the right one and connect to it. Once it was connected, we could move it where we wanted to, as long as it stayed in the routers range. The 802.11n is incredibly fast! I live next door to my daughter, so we wanted to connect to their network using our laptop but we were too far. The quick installation guide was very simple and easy to follow. Without it, we wouldn't have been able to set it up. The only problem was the price and the setup software was a bit buggy, but overall, great product, recommend it, works great and very fast!

Useless
Comment:
Checked with Hawking if it will work with DLink DIR655 - they thought it should. It did work for about 2 or 3 hours after each set up then it would no longer find the DIR655 so had to be set up again. Absolute waste of money - well perhaps a paperweight but then not that much paper around.

many hours i will never get back
Comment:
Like many other reviews I read before purchasing (but bought anyway) I had the experience of the extender working for a brief period (30 min or so) and then the signal deteriorating and eventually not working at all. Troubleshooted for days using different locations and configurations but the same problem persisted until i finally returned it.

Very Happy with the Hawking HWREN1
Comment:
Called (ca website) sales and told them that the wireless signal from my DLink DIR-655 wireless N router located in an upstairs bedroom was very weak from the basement and patio. I could only get 1-2 bars at most, with a lot of latency. So the very helpful a staff put me on to the Hawking HWREN1 and I immediately ordered it online, and in usual fashion the item arrived promptly. Set up and configuration was a breeze following the included instructions. Once the HWREN1 was placed in a boundry where the signal strength was weak, I could now connect to it, and was getting 4-5 bars consistently from the basement and patio with excellent speeds. The only tiny issue I ran into was on the 2nd day, the HWREN1 seemed to be unavailable, so I rebooted it, and still could not connect to it. So called Hawking support (very very helpful and polite), and within minutes, I reconfigured the router and has been working flawlessly since then. Very pleased with this purchase!

Good Paperweight (tried it with Trendnet router)
Comment:
When I first received the extender I followed the directions and used the set up wizard disk that came with the unit. The disk failed to properly configure the extender so I called tech support. After 4 different sessions with tech support and reconfiguring I finally got the item to work but the people I spoke to insisted on keeping my router on channel 11. This cut my routers range in half and interferred with the wireless cameras we use to keep an eye on my father who has alzheimers and dementia as he sleeps. I asked the tech over and over if I could change the channel and he said that it had to remain on 11. I tried it out despite this and its initial connection to the web is slow. Afterwards it speeds up. This was workable with our computers however our playstations(one of the main reasons we got it) timed out the signal and refused to link up.On the bright side I put the antannae on my wireless adapter and it increased the signal by at least 10%. Great $100 antennaes!!!

Excellent Device
Comment:
I was sceptical when I first bought this extender, but I am impressed. I found it very easy to setup with no additional drivers that need to be loaded. A simple setup wizzard is included that runs from the CD. It took me about 10mins to be up and running. Works great! I now have full signal everywhere in 2 story house.

Excellent Network Repeater
Comment:
The setup on this baby can be a little confusing but it is actually easier than the instructions lead you to think. My house is nest door to my daughters and we share internet. She was on vacation so i couldnt get in her house to use her wireless router to set the extender up with. I took a chance and hooked a regular network router to my computer and then hooked the extender to the router and it allowed me to access the router and set it up that way. (Note) The router I used wasn't even a wireless router. I was tickled Pink! I put the range extender at the end of my house that was closest to hers and I have excellent internet throughout my house. Thanks hawking for another wounderfull product!

Well worth the price
Comment:
All I wanted to do was to boost the wireless signal into the garage and kitchen of my house. The signal has been 'very low' and unreliable. I had doubts about this product, but the reviews were very strong. It was a breeze to set up, and now my signal is 'good' to 'very good'. The signal strength exactly doubled. I now have very fast, reliable wireless everywhere on my property...couldn't be more pleased. Yes it is $100 but it does what it is designed to do.

Great Deal for Spacious Place
Comment:
My Linksys Wireless Router is in the basement, and the signal didn't reach the second floor in my house. I tried a Linksys Wireless Range Extender when I had a G Router and it didn't help. I got a new Linksys Wireless N Router and bought the Hawking Range Extender, and amaizingly, it works perfectly every where in the house. The Linksys Wireless Router is still in the basement and the Hawking Range Extender is in the first floor. Now, I can use my laptop in the second floor. I only had trouble setting it up because I had to change some setting. The call to Hawking customer service was very helpful, telling me that I needed to change a few settings (security mode: WPA Personal, Channel: 11) in the Linksys setting.

Fantastic Extender & Bridge (?)
Comment:
Setup was easy. Performance has been great. I've unplugged my wireless router and plugged it back in to find the extender only took 3 seconds or less to come back up. The neatest thing was I hung it on the wall and dropped a Cat 5 cable down one night,I thought, why not see what would happen,so I plugged it into a wired only PC. Almost instantly it had a connection proving to me that this device is also an effective bridge solution too. What a pleasant surprise!

Perfect answer to my problem
Comment:
Needed to extend my wireless network to an outbuilding 50 meters away, through walls, trees, etc. Put this unit in a window and got excellent results. Note that wire mesh screens can be worse than walls, so avoid windows so equipped. Throughput (actual data delivered, not link speed) to the end user is 4 to 6 Mbit/second being fed from an N access point. Setup was easy first time and when I decided to change it later. I like the fact that I could have upgraded the antennas if I needed it (didn't need to). Probably the best $100 I've spent on wireless equipment. Highly recommended if you need wireless network extension.

Over 25 years as an IT, I had yet to find a range extender that really worked. I easily installed the Hawking HWREN1, and it works great. I recommend this product above and beyond Netgear or D-Link!!!

Solved a problem that my ISP could not
Comment:
After calling the store to tell them about the constant signal drop that occurred in my wireless home network, the technical sales representative suggested a Hawking Wireless Range Extender. Problem fixed. As soon as I set it up (took a service call to a very helpful Hawking support person)all the computers in the house were able to connect to my wireless router. I am surprised that my ISP never suggested a range extender.

Comment:
The HWREN1 was quick and easy to setup and works very well. I had to move my wireless router from a central to peripheral location in my house which greatly reduced the coverage. I placed the Range Extender in the location that the router had previously been, and now I have better wireless coverage than I ever had before.

Easy Setup and Works Great
Comment:
I bought this device to extend our network to the back deck and up to the third floor of our three family brick home. It took about 10 minutes to set up and with the wall mount works great and is out of the way. Placed next to a window in the rear of the house, it provides almost 100% signal strength to the 3rd floor.
