Best Deal Ever!
Comment:
I bought two of these drives a while back for use as backup drives. Both drives have been working within normal working parameters without errors. I would highly recommend this drive to anyone who require a high amount of disk space.

Good drive...good value
Comment:
I have bought and used Hitachi notebook drives for several years now and have not had one failure, even after many changing them out of the notebooks for a different operating system. Maybe good luck or just good drives, but I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this 3.5" internal drive. I have bought two of these drives so far...one is in my desktop and the other is in a 3.5" USB enclosure, using the USB 2.0 interface. Both are performing absolutely perfectly, and I could not be happier. These are very fast drives in access seek time and data transfer times. Again the order was filled and delivered in two days and I am very pleased with that as well.

Functions as expected
Comment:
Stores and retrieves my stuff OK but does run a bit hot . I've had it for about 3 months and my only complaint is I never received my rebate ! I made the mistake of doing a quick format and lost about 300 bucks worth of movies but after a proper format it works perfectly ! Gave 3 stars for the value only because of the rebate .

Great Drives (large, fast, quiet)
Comment:
Have two of these linked as a software RAID-0 configuration under Windows Vista. Quiet and fast. Nearly twice as fast as the smaller SCSI main drive, except for small-file transfers. (Note: not truly 1TB, but just over 900GB, so two in a striped configuration gives 1.81TB of usable space.)

Works great
Comment:
Wow this thing runs great had it a month now with no issues at all installs as easy as plugging it in. It isn't really noisy at all. The storage capacity and price were the real sellers for me as well as other reviews. Great buy all around.

So far, so good
Comment:
Bought a Seagate 1GB and made noise right out of the box. I exchanged it with this one (due to the 30 back guarantee) and use it mainly as a clone drive, but seems to work much better than the segates, which have failed on me. One more thing, New Egg wouldn't go good for their crap.

WOW
Comment:
So far it is awesome! I have been downloading almost 24/7 for the past month or two and it has not given up. 500gbs and still going.... afraid I am going to have to save up for another pretty quick just for a backup! Don't want all that 500gbs worth of data down the drain!!!! p.s. Very quiet... a lot quieter than my stock 160gb hard drive.. that is why I upgraded... 160 yes it was horrible.... too small....

HITACHI 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Comment:
I have purchased 4 of the units to build 3 work stations (1 with RAID). I have had problems with all the computers since the start with numerous CRC errors and weird problems occurring. After hours of testing RAM, networks, processors, motherboards, SATA wires, and more, I finally found out that the issue was the hard disks. I simply made a swap with a different drive (all problems were solved). Will never buy Hitachi disks again, save up for Western Digital or better.

Ordered two and they work great in my machine. Fast and quiet. But then they were too large for my friends computer to recognize, the bios just could not recognize it, looked dead but put them back in my machine and they were fine. The person who had two DOA's should check his bios and see if there is an update for it. One of my Dell's was at the 13th BIOS update so that can be very key here.

So far so good, no trouble, recognized right away and I am not having any of the noise issues noted by others here in a week of use. Solid drive and fast.

I've had this for a month now and, while it works, I'm looking forward to swapping it out for something more reliable. As soon as I populated it, it developed bad sectors. I managed to chkdsk it only losing 3 files. Now XP ''loses'' it when the computer's been running for a few days. It reappears after a reboot but I'm leery of trusting my data to it.

The drive I got is emitting a loud high-pitched whine, so loud that when I move away from the computer my ears are ringing(like after going to a club). The drive performs as it should but I'm going to exchange this drive.

PERFORMANCE: Quick, Quiet and cool. No overheating. But all hard drives, especially stacked together need cooling. Keep an 80mm or better fan blowing across them at all times. VALUE: the best about this drive is Performance and price. FEATURES: Could have used larger cache {32} meg not 16. But, still an excellent deal. QUALITY: Sturdy, Easy installation. I own 3 this has proven to be a most reliable drive. My needs are huge video files and programming needs. Looking into another purchase soon.

Pros. Bought two of these drives here and as usual the price and shipping were No 1. The Hitachi 1TB is an awsom quiet fast reliable drive and can't be beat for the dollars. Cons 32meg buffer would be nice for this size drive. Still the best value for the dollars.

Got one of these drives last weekend. Best drive i have ever had. Installed vista 64 bit gave me 5.9 vista score compared to some that give 5.7! Excellent drive would recommend it to anyone. Great Price, More reliable then competitive drives. I know how people say this drive gets extremely hot. Well I just installed a Hard drive heat sink i got from my old 15k SCSI sun drives. It keeps it nice and cool. I would recommend doing something of the sort.

I purchased two for use in a NAS unit. Both went in and are running beautifully. I am using Raid01 and the drives are purring like kittens. The rebate is another story. Send that in and it can get lost in the abyss with no one to call.

Ordered 15 of these all at once. Great price. Have other Hitachi drives that have needed replacement, they are a LOT faster than Segate or WD in replacement, and don't make you jump through the hoops! Thanks, for great products and service!

HITACHI 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Comment:
I had Seagate, Maxtor, WD, Samsung, and Hitachi had drives over the last 20yrs. I'm still running the first Hitachi I bought 20yrs ago. My samsung is still running strong as well. I gave up on Maxtor after 3HD's in one yr. and now that they own Seagate I'll never buy another one of them. WD used to be good but I don't know about these days. I'm sticking with what I know to be a great Hard drive, Hitachi. I bought this one over a mth. ago and love it. I bought it for an external Vantec case, which works great together. I had issues installing, formating, or anything. Anyone that knows about computers, knows that you wont see the entire HD because of the MBR needs room too, duh. Also, it took me 30 min to formate the entire thing. I also broke it down into 3 partitions. If it takes 3 hours, than that's because your computer is slow. I'm using it to back up 5 other computers, and some other stuff. I have had no issues with it, and is as quick as it should be. Nice Unit. Highly Recommend
