* Capture quality is outstanding* Easy to wire up* The Recording Software program portion is quite easy to use * The rest of the computer software is HORRIBLE and essentially not usable I ended up having to download a bunch of freeware apps to be capable to cut commercials and make a burnable blu-ray because the computer software that came with the unit was actually negative at this.I discovered H264 cutter to be ideal for cutting commercials. MULTIAVCHD was the ideal for converting your post-cut .ts file to AVCHD format to burn to disc and I applied IMGBURN to burn to discs that play good on my BLU-RAY player.

Quite great product for the price. Purchased it for recording gameplay and streaming. Performs excellent for recording gameplay, and haven't had a challenge with it given that Since the recording is in a format as quickly as it's recorded (The footage isn't raw) you can not stream with it. The only way to do it is to use a 3rd party Live output screen capture service. The formats employed are often tricky to edit, based on your software program. If your seeking to edit the footage you capture WMM won't function, but it does come with its personal editor that I have yet to try. Overall a extremely fantastic product. Suits my requirements and does it in best high quality. I would advise it to any person who isreally desires HD excellent video recordings for cheaper than most HD recording merchandise

1. It can record any element video source up to 1080i2. Genuinely Straightforward to setup and use3. You can record in .M2TS & .MP4 which are each excellent for most editing softwaresthree. It is an USB external capture device so it's great for both desktops & laptopsfour. You can use optical audio and record in five.1 surround soundfive. Its not to major so it's straightforward to locate a place for it 1. Its 赨 so its a massive investmenttwo. Requirements a lot of CPU power to get total HD recording3. There is around a second delay for the video preview screen on your personal computer when your recording. This sucked since it meant I had to do component out to my Tv instead of playing Xbox 360 just watching the preview window. I use this for recording my gaming sessions and generating videos for YouTube. I have been additional than happy with this item and it already far on its way for paying itself off.

Installed very easily and worked wonderful. The subsequent day it didn't work any longer. I had register the computer software and the tech help was great. The folks from ArcSoft fixed the glitch with the software and it now performs flawlessly. I could really do with out the bright blue light that comes on even though it is recording. I plugged this into a HP Pavilion Elite E9140F which has a capture card installed and this caused a conflict in the software program. I can't say sufficient very good factors about the people from ArcSoft. The support they offered was outstanding. Once I registered the WinTV computer software it went from not operating to operating. Prior to registering it stated it couldn't find a file and would not function. WinTV computer software is written by Hauppauge as far as I can ascertain.

1080i recording AND bypass copyright protectionTrustworthyDoesn't run hotStraightforward to use 2-3 second delay at recording startupComputer software crashes occasionally, but not even though recording Operates reliably, quickly, upgrades itself, doesn't run hot, and bypasses copy protection by working with equally sharp analog. There is slight loss in good quality (as there is in any analog copy), and it gets worse if you reduce the information rates, far better if elevated. My only complaint is that the recording has about a 2-3 second delay, which is a bit frustrating, but not severe. I can time recordings to the second automatically, and the computer software is dependable. It will crash if you leave it running for a while immediately after recording is carried out, or if the signal gets lost. I have the box connected to my AV receiver, so when I shut it off, the box resets, back on and the computer system re-recognizes the device and back in company. Its in our residence theater, but now with new Samsung LCDs getting able to access our 100mbs network content, we can pipe the AV around and it looks Excellent. You have to rename the file variety for Samsung to recognize it. If there is a recording glitch, Samsung has problems playing it but not the

When it learned the MCE equivalent DirecTV remote handle commands we had been GOLDEN. Lovely HD 1080p recordings from DirecTV programming. No studder or hesitation of any kind (running 8Gig memory, Quad AMD Processors on HP Box). Took hours to get the MCE remote working for DirecTV HD Receiver. Must use DVBLink for HDPVR Ɠrd party) to integrate with Win7 MCE. Hauppauge must obtain and consist of this software program.

Records video from time to time. Lets you turn off the blue LEDs on the leading (why they are there at all is an additional query). Locks up just enough to make it useless as a PVR device. Would you put up with rebooting your Television every couple of hours? Video excellent suffers noticeably compared to straight component feed thru to my Tv. I attempted so a lot debugging it makes me sick to think of the time I wasted. I at some point gave up. I gather from forums that a lot of other individuals had related complications. I got a Ceton InfiniTV 4 card and realized HTPC Nirvana. I recommend you do the similar if you are employing this to record from a cable set major box.

I can lastly transer the rest of my HD programs from my TIVO HD!! I may well get a cable box just for this thing so I don't have to record twice (to TIVO, then from TIVO to Laptop).. Either way, good little solution Price, but when you're the only a single out there, you can ask for a lot more I guess. I have not had quite very good luck with the computer software for Hauppauge goods; they normally don't function well at all. So far this si working with Windows 7 with no issues.

This device is one particular of those "love it" or "hate it" sort of scenarios for most people today since it can be incredibly tempermental to get operating just the way you want it. I need to have a device like this to drive my DCT 6200 cable box because Shaw (like all CDN cable businesses) doesn't support CableCard. While Hauppauge has been working tough to get their drivers up to snuff for use with Windows 7 Media Center they are not entirely accomplished yet so you have to be prepared to put up with some hiccups in some instances. That stated, the video/sound quality is exceptional and it's a godsend to lastly be able to effectively access all the HD content that I am paying for andmake it obtainable to my extenders (XBOX 360s). Hauppauge genuinely needed to be a lot additional aggressive with their driver assistance for using this device with Media Center. It's moderately appalling that this device has been out so long and there still isn't a stable/fully functional driver set for that usage scenario. Lots of individuals recommend obtaining a seperate IR Blaster/Receiver for use with this box but I have been doing fine so far with the constructed-in one (the channel modifications take up to 20 seconds but Hauppauge is operating to resolve this situation).

Uh its the diffrence from excellent and undesirable. I record ufc ppv with this to xbox format and watch it via the network in media center really simple. Does the job it's supposed to do. Tends to make good looking recordings from an HD cable box. Been using it with SageTV for about a month and it's been operating wonderful for recording HD from Cable. No heat troubles, no lockups, but then again I'm working with analog audio which tends to be much more trustworthy for these devices than SPDIF. -Hauppauge Blaster computer software is awful. Only supports 1 Hauppauge blaster per Pc and offers you no ability to select which Hauppauge device to blast from. Get a USB-UIRT if you need to have a good IR blaster.-IR receiver is buggy, buggy, buggy. Tends to lock the device a lot.-Would be good if it weren't so costly.-Too bad this has to use component video. This produces a fun mess of cables exactly where this gets installed. This item serves a void very properly. It's not great, but if you know what this device is capable of, and use it for its strengths, you will be pleased.

It runs by way of USB 2. Where do I start out? I applied this issue to record video games for walkthroughs I'm doing, and I had Nothing at all but troubles. I ran it on Windows 7, Windows Vista, I even reinstalled Windows XP to see if it'd operate, and absolutely nothing.Very first, it froze right after every loading screen, I'd have to reset the PVR to inform remind it it isn't recording anymore. The formats it records in are terrible, you can only use Sony Vegas 8.0c or greater or an editor made especially for h264 (.ts, .mt2s, or .mp4) files to edit or do something with them, which tends to make Adobe or other decent editors useless.Their assistance is garbage. They had tons of other stories of the exact same problems I had, but apparently in no way fixed it, they renamed the version from R3 to R4 or some thing. It's a waste of space, engineering, time, and dollars. Purchase a card from the Black Magic Intensity hardware line, substantially far better (and can capture HDMI!)

But if you just hit record and turn off sound you dont want to listen or watch it. For some purpose i cant get the controller to operate.

When this operates it makes it possible for you to see high definition content material from you cable or satellite box. It doesnt perform. The drivers are horrible. You have to energy cycle it numerous instances a day, you have to reboot your laptop just to get it to operate. Every other day the IR blaster does not send the ideal signal to change channels correctly. You tell i to place channel 423 it does 120, you tell it 424 i does 170, etc. It worked at a single point for a day or two in a row, but you would have to reboot both the PVR and the Computer. Immediately after a couple of days I gave up trying to get the blaster to operate. I began to use the comcast remote to manually change the channels. Before this I have owned a hauppauge SD television tuner and it worked great. This thing is a two hundred dollar peice of trash. Their help is horrible. No one can get this to work with media center for more than two days in a row. DO NOT Obtain.

Only game in town to get HD content material into a media method such as SageTV without having going completely Rube Goldberg. For me, it performs as advertised. You can reprogram below Sage to record at a higher bitrate than below ArcSoft. I feel the top quality is really great for what cable spits out anyway. We all know none of the cable men and women send out HD motion pictures at the identical resolution as broadcast ATSC, in spite of their claims that they do, and this unit is far superior to a typical DVD of a movie anyway. The only thing that will ever beat this is CableCard on a PCI-Express interface, but that's essentially vaporware at this point, and at that point you would in all probability have DRM issues anyway. Can be twitchy. It would be good if it could take care of about 20mb/s max, but what it does is adequate. Rumors abound as to its chipset's actual maximum bitrate.Driver upgrades can be a hassle. Susceptible to interference from other cards. Try to maintain your component cable input as brief as you can and away from other cords. Digital audio can be iffy. Best to lock your set top box to either 720p or 1080i as continuous resolution alterations can freak it out. Hold it cool. I have a smaller pc fan blowing air over it, and ventilation of the unit is not so fantastic to start with. If you have a second Hauppauge device, they will slug it out for manage of the single IR channel Hauppauge delivers. Remedy - get a USB-UIRT IR controller for this tuner. Not a con per se, but H.264 will take a fantastic card and CPU to handle. Most likely not a good concept not to run it on an ancient technique. I'd say at least an ATI 3600 series card, and Core two Duo processor. I can only speak from the point of view of a SageTV user. It functions reliably about 96-98% of the time. Each now and then a cold restart of the server and the Hauppauge unit is essential. I try not to update the drivers anymore than I have to - "if it ain't broke, don't repair it" is my motto here. If you tweak it to a larger bitrate the HD content material looks fairly darn good. I have mine at about 8GB/hour through tweaks. You have to don\'t forget you are going from a digital cable signal to your cable box decoding to analog to this unit recoding the analog back to digital and then back to your Television in analog, so it's not going to be like a Blu-Ray. Also, it's 1080i max, but that's genuinely excellent adequate. If you use it with SageTV or other PVR computer software and have any other Hauppauge products, get a USB-UIRT. It's next to not possible to handle which tuner gets the single IR channel Hauppauge allows. A USB-UIRT will manage up to two devices, hassle cost-free.

I've been employing an HD-PVR for HD video capture for various years. Video high quality is outstanding at 720p or 1080i, and the box itself is bulletproof (I have the "C2" version; I realize the first release boxes tended to overheat, but I've by no means had that dilemma). A fantastic way to archive video from any HD source with element outs. The Windows computer software included with the box is fairly lousy, and Hauppauge's application assistance is restricted. Box doesn't recognize DTS audio. No way to crop video (i.e. remove letterbox black areas) with out more software package and re-encoding. Mac support (software) fees extra, from outside vendors. Hauppauge doesn't offer you Mac help out of the box; OS X users have to buy either ElGato's eyeTV or Steven Toth's HDPVRCapture computer software (Google for it). For my dollars, the considerably less expensive HDPVRCapture is preferred, with a simple interface and easy. no-reencoding export to .mp4 files that can be edited with MPEG Streamclip freeware and then played back through Quicktime + Perian. I don't use my HD-PVR for actual scheduled PVR recordings, just video capture, so I have no opinion on that overall performance. Works excellent with a C2D Intel Mac Mini for each recording and playback.

Awsome!!!!Getting HD 720P and five channel AC3 audio archived for my individual use is an American suitable!!Liberty vs. Greed and Liberty won.Funny that it encodes HD to much less disk space than my old SD 150 hardware mpeg II encoder did. So it saves you difficult drive space as well. Roughly 40% less truly based on settings. None Get it now for Myth Television. I got rev E1 unit that is operating good with openSuSE 11.2 x86_64.Utilizing it in Linux is sooo coowel. I had to set a 4 second pause among succesive channel alterations although, otherwise no audio sometimes. I'm not utilizing integrated blaster or remote even though so can't speak about individuals. I'm nevertheless utilizing the old MCE remote and blaster kit from the 150.You'll be pleased as well.

Smooth setup, great top quality video and audio. Working with with Windows Media Center and so far no issues what so ever. Would be great if HDMI outputs were included, nonetheless the good quality with the component cables is in fact OK. Had a problem making use of the WinTV scheduler software program that cam with the product, scheduled applications would not record as the computer software would hang asking for me to pick the input source even although the PVR was my only source present. Switched to working with Windows Media Centre and no problems after that. Now just the dilemma that I have to convert the video from wtv to a format my media centres will recognize, man I hate windows some days.

Soon after attempting different cables & anything else I could believe of to be certain this wasn't an situation with my stereo or consoles I tried contacting their tech support. They replied when asking what driver I had installed & each adhere to up reply has been ignored since. I'd give this at least three stars/eggs/whatever if it wasn't for this audio challenge. four if it wasn't for Hauppauges apathy towards my issue & the 5th if the thing didn't really feel so flimsy. For 赨 the issue just feels affordable. You'll see what I mean when/if you ever see this in person. I really want to like it but that involves a totally functional unit 1st.
