This device enables me to capture 720p from my Pc with no a overall performance hit and the MP4 files are tiny (compared to FRAPS) and look amazing! The MP4 files function fine with Premiere CS5.Right here's proof >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETeUj2m4X5QThat was shot in Second Life with the eye-candy cranked at 720p 60FPS! Does not do 1080p, but I can reside with that. 720p is great for Youtube. Only has Component in for HD! Do your homework. You Can not simply connect a DVI to element cable to it. You need to go DVI-VGA to a component colorspace changer such as the a single from Audio Authority. Unless your video card has built-in (dongle) element out. Wish it did 1080p instead of just 1080i. Solid item and good software program. I highly suggest it for recording any video from just about any factor.

An outstanding, reasonably affordable answer for HD video capture that an average customer can afford. Even although it captures the signal by way of the component video cables I can not see any distinction in between what my computer monitor is displaying and my 47" Vizio television. The Vizio is connected to my FIOS box by means of hdmi and the pc is linked to the HD PVR via usb and the HD PVR is connected to the set prime FIOS box via element video and spdif for 5.1 audio. Set up is a no brainier, just pull it out of the box and plug in the cables and set up the supplied software and drivers on your computer. Yes as other individuals have stated it is very standard software, will not definitely turn it into a PVR that you can set up a schedule to record or to pause a plan whilst watching like you can with most DVRs you rent from your cable co. Nonetheless for me I mainly use it to record a plan or film that I want to watch yet again later. I just hit the record button on the application though watching the program. there are 3rd party applications that operate with the HD PVR, but I do not feel that not possessing them and obtaining to purchase them separate is not truly a con. I am specific that if they had been integrated the price for the HD PVR would have been a lot greater. I have heard that there is a plug in you can get that makes it work with MS Media Center. Also (not a con) just be conscious that if you capture at its max capabilities, 1080i with 5.1 audio at a high bitrate the typical movie will consume aprox 13GB of space so if you do substantially recoding you will want lots of significant HD's. A single factor I have found that for me is actually fantastic, my pc is in the identical area as my Vizio television and from time to time my son uses the Television as a monitor when playing PS3 games. There have been instances in the previous when I wanted to watch some Television but not sufficient to make him stop his game. What I do now is commence the software and just monitor what is on television with no recording it and I listen to it on my five.1 headset. And use my FIOS remote to switch channels. I have not attempted to set up employing the integrated remote with my FIOS box however so cannot say that it either works or that it does not.

Capture high definition video! (At the time, this was the only way I could uncover to do this without a cable card device) Oh so many...1) The integrated computer software is basically useless. For OS much less than windows 7, you will have to get extra software program (dvsbridge for windows media center, sage television otherwiseƜ) finding this to work in windows media center on vista was beyond my technical abilities (although I wouldn't classify myself as a ř" tech knowledge, I am a former engineer, computer programmer, and have always built my personal computers). I think it might operate (or be easier to get operating) in windows 8, since that may assistance bluray natively, but I don't know for sure3) windows media center remote will not perform outdoors windows media center and the included remote operate won't work in sagetv (without further $oftware), so no remote assistance. four) SLOW channel changing Ultimately, I got it operating - but it was a lot of work. Surely would not recommend this to everyone who doesn't feel extremely comfy fiddling with their personal computer. Has some stability issues with numerous tuners controlling two cable boxes - but that may be a Sagetv challenge. But on the vibrant side, if you do get it operating, the high def video is pretty very good (high def is good, but the compression is a bit aggressive).Would I purchase it yet again? Hard question... it wouldn't be wonderful as your primary television capture card, but to occasionally grab some high def shows or movies it operates. On the other hand, anticipate to invest another ๛ in additional software to get this thing to operate... How a lot is high def video worth to you?

when it performs, it operates fantastic The unit has recognized flaws - I use it for capturing VCR tapes to digital format. If I rapid forward or rewind while in capture mode, the unit displays garbage video output. The only function about is to turn off the unit and restart the capture plan. The product description tends to make no mention of the truth of these shortcomings but when I contacted assistance they had been conscious of the issue and provided no resolution or alternate workaround.

Straightforward to set up, doesn't require opening the computer system to install, and produced by a firm with a excellent reputation (I already personal a Hauppauge HVR-1850 that I use for SD video capture). I don't know whether I got a defective unit or whether I was carrying out some thing wrong, but I never could get the color proper on captured video in spite of becoming pretty experienced with constructing & repairing computers. In addition, I disliked the software that comes with it. Immediately after a lot of frustration, I returned the unit to Newegg. My setup: Two computers (Dual core three., 8gb RAM, Win 7 64-bit, Nvidia 9800 & 260 video cards).I wanted the Hauppauge for capturing video from Second Life, with a single laptop or computer running Second Life and sending the video to the Hauppauge which would send captured video to the second computer system for writing to disk.I ended up replacing my Hauppauge with a Blackmagic Intensity Pro but the Hauppauge is a much better decision for most folks because of its easier setup and significantly less stringent method needs.

Top quality of this is beyond what I originally thought it could do. No HDMI, no instructions to let you know that you want to put your 360 into 720p just before video shows up, since you can only use component. I use the remote now for my Computer, which tends to make watching videos substantially easier. Best 赨 I've ever spent.

Spectacular quality HD video, using with Directv HD receiver. Edit the footage to cut commercials, rip to .avi, and bam, I have a video collection of my preferred films, sports, games, and so forth. Computer software is weak. For how substantially you devote on this, it would be nice to have superior software with a lot more capabilities. IR blaster was a joke, couldn't get it to function. I read quite a few posts on forums about this. Hopefully they improve that as effectively. Gave this a 4 star nonetheless, simply because of the video good quality, and even although the software program is weak and the IR blaster sucks, it gets the job done and records HD to my Computer.

Bought Dec 09 - got rev E1 unit - no overheating probs and no lockups. Resulting files appear as excellent as direct HD digital recordings from my HVR-2250 card. Functions effectively with Motorola DCH3200 HD box. Have the HD-PVR on the componant out and the tv on the HDMI - no troubles. Been employing Television cards given that the ATI Rage128 - the supplied ArcSoft programs are the worst I have ever observed for usability. Fortunately with some tweaking the HD-PVR performs with BeyondTV which has a far far better interface and schedualing options. You do have to switch to the Arcsoft h.264 decoder and use the Hauppauge IR Blaster config, but otherwise none of the Arcsoft applications are required. I hate the big ring of blue leds that shine when recording.I don't need a weird blue night light in my living space. Will be cutting the wires when the warranty is up.

Amazing. The included software program is fairly decent. The scheduling works like a champ. I can't use the Tv Guide even though, I'm in Japan. It's so easy the wife can use it. Tricky set up if you're attempting to record PAL or NTSC-J. Can't crop or stretch 4ɇ programming to widescreen. Only component pass-by way of. Using RCA splitters from my cable box. Haven't utilised it for HD programming, not obtainable in my region. Bought this prior to cable cards pci adapters had been "working." Been making use of it every single day to record shows I know I won't see when I get back to the U.S.

This device records at a quite high high quality. I was in a position to stream directly to my HD Tv and the recorded video was flawless. I can see using this specifically to record video games, shows on your DVR, or other Tv shows that don't need you to set it and forget it. Really unstable. The IR Blaster is quirky at finest. Doesn't work effectively with Windows 7 MCE. I tried it on three Windows 7 computers and a single Vista. I was only able to set it up on two of the Win 7 systems. It didn't work at all with Vista MCE. I e-mailed Hauppauge and in no way received any response at all. The packaged software is for direct recording only. If the HD PVR doesn't have your STB IR code pre-installed, you will waste hours setting up your remote control more than and more than again, only to uncover out that it stopped working again the subsequent time you use it. I returned my HD PVR for a refund. I just couldn't tolerate it's unreliability and instability. The IR blaster couldn't accurately manage my Motorola QIP 7100-1 STB. I tried to use my current IR blaster but it wouldn't operate (it works flawlessly making use of my analog tuner) Occasionally the HD PVR recorded the correct channel, occasionally it didn't (Using Windows 7 MCE). The MCE drivers are terrible. I hooked this up to 4 distinct computers and two distinct STB to see how it functions. It's negative on all of them. Prior to I purchased the Hauppauge, I left my computer on for months and it recorded making use of Windows 7 Media Center with out flaw. Making use of the HD PVR you can anticipate Media Center to randomly crash. Count on the channels not to modify. Expect to have to re-boot and re-determine the tuner for no certain purpose. Even the packaged software program (TME) is useless. Due to the fact the IR blaster wouldn't adjust the channels, you have to manually set the channel prior to you record one thing. DO NOT Purchase!

I effectively say that any individual thinking of purchasing this item requirements to make confident their Pc exceeds the manufactures minimal system specifications. This is very essential for max quality and playback good quality. The USB cord is extremely brief in length. Subsequent greatest factor without opening up your Computer and installing a capture card.

-By no means had any issues with the unit-USB two.-Effortless to set up and use-Software package operates as ought to and really properly -The cables are laughably brief-HDMI assistance would have been nice, but this isn't also big of a deal for me I've had mine for some time and use it for recording Xbox footage. So far it works like a charm, I've never ever had any difficulties with it and it literally takes five minutes to set up. The only real con I have is how extremely short the cables are. Mine just barely reach the laptop or computer, and for that I have to take off an egg. The actual unit itself operates just fine though.

This device fits all my requirements, and comes with an particularly durable component cable(which has gold-plated contacts!). Doesn't record in 1080p(which I knew when I purchased it) nor does it slice bagels. I use this to record my Xbox360 gameplay.(If you are intriguing in viewing the video top quality this device can output check out my YouTube channel. user=Blackberry0Pie)Included conversion computer software lacking in features(expected).five.1 / SPDIF / digital optical audio not supported by the driver in the included CD. Download and install a newer driver from the Hauppauge web page to rectify this. When an optical cable is plugged in, the component audio is muted.

Lovely image good quality. If you want to capture 1080i this is the ticket. Capture software program that is included functions well. Needs a clean install of windows to work appropriately (I think Punk-buster was causing dropped frames). Included Arcsoft editing computer software is not that helpful (needs much better video editing software program). This item actually needs many composite inputs (too many cables to be switching). Box get warm.... I wish they had included two 120mm fans to cool it off. This is finest applied on a HTPC devoted to media, as the computer software does not play well with other applications.Bling lights are annoyingly vibrant.....but thankfully can be switched off by way of the GUI.

* When it does truly record something, it is a quite good recording. * Crashes each day.* Requires unplugging power and replugging to make it perform once again. A reboot is not enough! This indicates you can't reset it remotely.* Crashing tends to make it unreliable, which implies half the time whatever you wanted to record is not going to be recorded! I've been recording analog Television through capture cards and HD from my STB through firewire for years. I purchased two of these HD-PVRs to convert all my recording to HD. What a failure! The device is merely not stable. It ceases to function following some time, requiring the power to be unplugged and plugged back in. This is simply unacceptable! I can't think they have the audacity to market such a steamy pile. I know it is the only device that records component, but don't waste your time and income due to the fact it isn't a dependable resolution. FWIW, I employed it with SageTV. When it recorded it was good, but much more than half the time it would fail.

Quite basic to use. Good appear. Lights up when recording so you know it's working. Compatible with all operating systems. Would be good to have hdmi out. I've owned the hauppauge hd pvr, blackmagic intensity pro, and the avermedia usb hd dvr. The avermedia failed extremely poor. When my screen turned bright white the item would shut down. The blackmagic I can't say to considerably about except you have to have a really fantastic and powerfull computer to run it. I have a Dell xps 8100 with a i5 dual core processor and I immediately maxed out my cpu generating it drop frames. Fundamentally lagged alot. The hauppauge however doesn't max out my cpu has no image black outs and the picture is amazing. I would buy this item just before any other. Belive me I spent alot of cash acquiring out this is the easiest and the most user friendly cap card out there.

see below see below In response to testimonials wishing this unit had an HDMI connection, here is something to look at:HDMI supports DRM (Digital Rights Management) technologies. Using an HDMI cable, devices from DirecTV, Dish, cable providers and TiVo can sense you are attempting to record or transfer a program from their box and block the attempt to do so. If Hauppauge or any other manufacturer attempted to bypass this employing an HDMI connection it would be considered a “hack”, resulting in lawsuits and big damage awards beneath the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.Composite video is a legal loophole. Though the connections are a lot more cumbersome and the video quality could be a bit lower, it is presently the only legal way to develop and sell a device for this sort of HD transferring and copying.

1. Can accept HD video and utilizes hardware encoding to H.264 and A.52.2. "Pretty substantially" seamless. There sometimes will be "stutters" when the entire scene changes as the HD PVR tries to catch up with the input. There is also a slight delay from the input to the encoder to the output. For instance, if I press the "Guide" button, it'll take around 3-4 seconds for a response. This is since there is a delay in the encoding process. Not too bad to notice though....nonetheless a excellent product if you want to record/watch HD Television on your pc via USB two. 1. THE Computer software. This is perhaps one of the worst pieces of integrated software. I use the HD PVR to watch Television on my laptop or computer making use of my DISH VIP 211k. I use VLC (VideoLAN Client http://www.videolan.org) which is Totally free. Immediately after installing the integrated driver, you can use Media->Open Media Capture Device. Use DVB DirectShow and DVB-S. This is Substantially much better than the integrated computer software! VLC also has a small red "Record" button. The only dilemma is that it doesn't "schedule" recording a plan.two. The included infrared device is pretty much worthless. The computer software doesn't operate nicely with Windows 7 and has difficulty not crashing! H.264 encodes at 1920x1080᤻.94fps on my Dish VIP 211k employing the integrated component cables. A52 (AC3) audio encodes in stereo ƒ channel) at 48,000Hz at a bitrate of 𞶰 kb/s

Does a wonderful job of capturing Video, IR Blaster functions nicely and is effortless to set up. Integrated computer software functions decently. Image good quality is superior. These units are Particularly unreliable. My 1st was DOA (Would not even Power on.) The replacement worked for a month just before conking out. The reliability of these units is a recognized dilemma, and although it's gotten much better it's still not to an acceptable level. Worse, Hauppauge's assistance doesn't have a very specialist attitude about responding to these hardware failiures. This is the 4th Hauppauge item I've bought in the last five years, and by far it's the most disappointing. I purchased this item based on the reputation the manufacturer has built with me based on their past solid solutions. This is surely not one of them. What's the most aggrivating is you get the feeling, holding it and comparing the 'feel' to past Hauppauge goods, that it is cheaply produced and corners had been cut. I would have gladly paid 50-75$ more for a item that was additional dependable and didn't have these sorts of headaches. As it stands the poor reliability knocks this assessment down from a five to a two. When it works, it works fantastic. But that doesn't appear to be incredibly frequently.

I read the critiques and specs just before producing my choice. I've had none of the complications that some users mentioned. No heat, no lockups, no buggy software. The personal computer I built may possibly be a aspect. Intel Quad with 8GB high speed memory, NVIDEA 9800GT, and TBs of storage. Anyway, the HD good quality is quite very good. I'm searching forward to putting together a superior collection of HD programs. I started by running all my saved videos from my Comcast DVR via the PVR. At this point, the included computer software does the trick, but I'll be searching at other options. I did notice a major perk with this PVR. If I send the HD Tv signal by means of the PVR and then switch more than to my computers HDMI 2 to view it on my big HD Tv, the HD excellent is increased. I was stunned by this, and can't fully grasp yet what is causing this, but I'm extremely pleased. I went out and bought a Philips switch so I could preserve all my devices hooked up to the PVR and now watch HD cable via my PVR. It's that significantly much better. None. Thinking about acquiring yet another one. Everyone else experience the higher resolution when running their HD cable through the PVR? Nonetheless don't fully grasp what is causing this, but I'm content about it.
